Oh no MJ, I canโt even imagine the shape that must be in. Can you sign him up for online banking and just deal with it that way so you have access to the actual amounts and who they were for? Good luck. Good morning everyone! ((( mac))) Guess the weather here!! Come on guess, you will NEVER believe it ๐๐ฅโ๏ธ๐คฃ I am in. Have a great day all! โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ

Good morning all! DebDoesWW , you're such a comedian. I know what your weather is and it'll be the same forecast for 10 more weeks at least. We can handle it though and our winters are a nice balance to the long, hot summers. diva49 , I hope the check reconciliations go smoothly. I hope you or Toots are co-signers to DBIL's account so you could look through things on-line. We had a lovely dinner with DD and her family last night and played a board game afterwards. Fun times! Watching Nascar this afternoon and my PBS Sunday night shows. Need to think about dinner plans. Have a lovely day, y'all! ((( mac)))

Had a lovely dinner and good time playing cards last night for DGF's birthday. DS and I have a BBQ at 2. We are under an excessive heat warning. This will not but fun but it's not forever. I'll cool off in the pool after before heading in the AC.

You're welcome MarieLYesterday my hubby and I took a nice walk on a new trail. That was nice, then we went to the swim hole and then on to a nice pizzeria (of course well-spaced outdoor seating only). Today is lower key and hotter outside. The owner of the swim hole club is a bit annoying. He's an older man that always seems to have something obnoxious to say. The last few times he has made rude comments about us wearing masks when near him. This time I stood far away with my mask down a bit, but covering my upper neck. He made his typical type of comment so I told him that I like that it covers my double chin, which I don't really have. It is such a shame how adamant some people are about rejecting basic covid-19 protection. Most know that stopping at stop signs and red lights is a good idea. The anti mask crap is therefore ridiculous. The man is supposedly intelligent, but intelligence doesn't always prevent being a fool.

Can you sign him up for online banking and just deal with it that way so you have access to the actual amounts and who they were for? Online banking is what has created this mess. No paper statements. His check register has some of the payments but no electronic disbursements or deposits. Just an incomplete list of most of what he wrote out, and maybe to whom. Electronic bill-pay has exacerbated it, since his idea of bill-pay is to send random amounts of money to various accounts on a flexible schedule. Overdraft protection is both blessing and curse. I hope you or Toots are co-signers to DBIL's account so you could look through things on-line. We worked with him on Saturday and have the log-ins and passwords we need, to access the two accounts. I've got PDF statements and an Excel spreadsheet for each account and have identified when the sh!t really hit (and broke) the fan <wow, it stinks>. Next is to dissect the automatic payments (different from the bill-pay) and see what he's been spending his money on. NOTE: there is NO PAPER to back up any of the automatic payments. NOTE: overdraft fees on the current statement of one of the accounts total $332.00; on the other, the overdraft went to a disused but not cancelled charge card so interest/fees are accruing there. Please keep the good vibes coming. I knew that being sole-charge in a contracting firm with 8 manual checkbooks would come in handy some day <no I didn't but I need to find the bright spot in all this>.

((( diva49, ))) that's no fun at all. Hang in there. I'm in. It's stinking hot here too! It took an hour to water everything this morning. No grilling for me today. Chicken salad and sliced tomato for dinner tonight. Have a great day everyone - stay cool!

Iโm in. Slow moving this morning after a fun evening last night. It was great to see my family. Dinner was delicious and social distancing took place. Moving into a new day and focused on blue. Wishing everyone a great day.

I would think online banking will have everything and so as long as there are no outstanding checks, maybe see if you can close the accounts and then those things with automatic payments, if the bank statements show the payee names find out how to cancel them or since they will decline due to closed bank account anyway, that may be the end of that anyway. Are the automatic payments for critical bills like utilities and such?

Are the automatic payments for critical bills like utilities and such? As my old Business Law professor was fond of saying, "It depends." It includes health care / health insurance payments and life and long-term-care insurances. There are small pension and dividend deposits. There is no substantiating paperwork ANYWHERE in that apartment although we keep looking. There don't seem to be any utilities, per se, and the cable bill still comes in as a hard copy (T-G). Yesterday we stopped all scheduled bill-pay on the "closed" account except for two insurance policies (and those are far enough ahead that we have time before they hit, unlike the several other items that hit before we got to 'em) and documented what we had done. Of course there are outstanding checks (in the other, "live", account), one of which is for over $10K. I really appreciate your feedback, finreporter.
