Hi Everyone,
I have a question relating to scanned foods. I'm on the blue plan and I made a smoothie from a packet of Winco frozen berries. When i scanned the barcode, it brought up a bunch of user created entrys which were all around 2-3 points each. My understanding is that fruit (frozen or otherwise is zero points). The only thing I can think of, is when the users scanned the barcode and it didnt come up, they entered the ingredients off the nutrition label which of course adds sugar and that counts for the points.
This seems to defeat the purpose of the plan. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?
cheers
Shane

kiwicalifornia, Welcome! You will get A LOT of varying opinions on smoothies if they have points or not. Since they are blended, you will consume more than a normal serving of the fruit and it will be more calories (WW stance). My belief is that if you are only using zero point fruit and veggies, it will still be zero points. It doesn't affect the make up of what you are eating, just smooshing it up. But I do agree, you can eat/drink more in smoothie form. Let your weight loss be your guide!

kiwicalifornia, According to WW fruits and veggies you put in smoothies have points. Put your recipe in the recipe builder and answer yes to the question that it is a drink, or something like that. That's the official policy, but you can also let your weight loss be your guide.

Yeah, At the end of the day its not a biggy, even WW themselves are not consistent, a pack of TJ frozen fruit has no points but another brand does..lol oh well.
thanks for the replies, appreciate it.

kiwicalifornia, welcome to the boards! I just wanted to follow-up/add to what has already been said. Smoothies aside, a bag of ANY fruit as long as there is NOTHING else added, just pure frozen fruit is always 0 points. People mistakenly use the calculator and create a new food when they can't find it when they scan it. That takes into account all of the nutritional value and gives it points. This would happen if you scanned a bag of green beans that someone figured out the nutritional information for and entered it. As long as it has NOTHING else added it is always 0.
