Day 21
Get Ready to Weigh In
Becks writes: Tomorrow, you’ll step on the scale and find out if you lost weight this week. These weekly weigh-ins can help you in the following ways:
They allow you to celebrate and build up your confidence when you’ve lost weight. They keep you honest if you’ve gained weight. They help you stay committed to the program.
Before you step on the scale, try not to think, I hope I weigh x pounds. Instead, think, Last week, I weighed ... Today, I should probably probably weigh somewhere between a half pound to 2 pounds more or less than that.
Don’t expect your weight to go down every week—it won’t. If it turns out that you’ve gained weight, ask yourself the following questions: What would I tell a close friend in the same situation? Would I like her less? Would I view her as bad or less worthy or as a failure? Remind yourself that your weight is not a reflection of who you are. What do I need to review with my diet coach? Do I need his or her help in keeping this weight gain in perspective?
How do you feel about weighing yourself tomorrow: excited? anxious? fearful? Before you get on the scale tomorrow, what are you going to tell yourself?

I find that when I’ve had a good week where I have prepped, planned and participated, then I am actually kinda excited to Weigh in and see results.
I tell myself that I am in this for the long haul; getting to goal and maintaining is the plan, and I look at 5 pound loss goals in the short term. Commit to losing 5 pounds each time.

I weigh every morning and as a result know that the scale bounces up and down with regularity. Over time I have learned, and continue to learn, what foods impact my weight. It might be salt, high carb or greater number of calories the day before or any number of other things that may impact my weight. The average of weights during a week compared against the average of weights the previous week show a trend down if only in increments.
I am in this for my health and forever so the scale and what it tells me is not a big deal...just another way to measure...like clothing and how it fits.
No worries about weigh-ins at home...can't always say the same about weigh-ins at say the doctor's office or when going for a weekly weigh-in (in the past) at WW.

I weigh myself daily and I post it to others on the same journey. For the first time ever, I’m comfortable with weighing in anywhere in front of anyone. I look at the number on the scale as information. It tells me how foods affect my body.

I weigh daily. The sheer repetition has taken some of the drama away.

I weigh daily and record it so I can check back to compare. I also weigh in weekly on Monday evening for the weight I record in the WW app. I check for gains by comparing over about two or three weeks.
I'm pretty good about being neutral about my scale number until I definitely have a gain, then I start looking for excuses other than overeating why my weight went up. I don't think every little gain is a problem. I wait awhile to make sure it isn't just me going up and down within range.

Since I'm in weight loss mode I weigh once a week because daily would make me crazy! But when I'm in maintenance I can see the benefit of daily weighing. Like lizlor, when I know I've been OP all week and doing what I can, I look forward to WIs. When I know I've gone off plan, I don't look forward to them, but I track the weight and look back at what I did that might have contributed to the gain, own it, and think about how to not do that next time.
