Linda, I am glad Ohio and Arizona could share something besides the virus. 😩 Teachers are anything but cowards. I sure as heck wouldn’t want the job. The teachers I know work long hours and take a lot of abuse from administrators, students and parents. I wouldn’t have lasted for more than one school year. Good job on Micki’s glucose levels. Home testing with only on line training? Ruh-roh😬 I hope you slept better. Yay, rain!
Kathy, I share your anxiety about health care and Linda’s anxiety about drug costs. So much anxiety overall I barely get 5 hours of sleep a night and they are full of those weird dreams caused by anxiety. Yes, the fam owe you some wipes!😅
Karen, I would have thought that the NC governor would say thanks but no thanks after the move to JAX. Good news on Monday’s closing. Is it in person or are they couriering the dox to you? It has been awhile since we sold a house but I do recall now all the fees being taken from the proceeds. We have not eaten our tomato yet. Fingers crossed it tastes good. That was a nice wildlife swim in the rain! Did you get any more showers? Nice looking cucumber. I see Garmin has yet to unpick the ransomware.
Becky, I am glad Scooter is back home being spoiled. I hope she is still leaving her ear alone. Tendinitis is a bear to get rid of. I hope the foot is doing okay today. There was a lady at the farmer’s market today that had her nose covered and her mouth uncovered. 🤔
Denise, I think allergy season is going to be here for me until autumn. It’s okay. There are worse things. Are you working today? How are the plants doing?
Liz, what are you, Gary and the pups up to this weekend? Got any grilling plans?
We went to the YS market. It was weird because there was no one in line for bread when usually that is the longest line. The veggie farmer next to the bread tent had an extra long line, so we went to a couple of other farmers. We got a nice Indiana melon. Around this area Indiana is known to have the best cantaloupes. We also got some more Michigan blueberries. The tomatoes, eggplant, and lettuces we found are local. I am counting the days until apple season. I am currently doing laundry and Iggy is making tabbouleh, baba ghanouj and is planning on grilling chicken and portabella mushrooms. We stopped at Starbucks on the way home to fortify us for cleaning the produce. It is a sunny day and the temperature is going up to 90° today. We have had a warmer and drier July than usual. A heat wave for us is 3 or more days 90° and above. Usually August is our hottest month so we will see what happens.
Have a good Saturday.

Linda, I know what you mean about teachers being unsung heroes. I did student teaching in a rural middle school and decided to teach adults instead. While the socialization aspects of school can be positive (but aren't always) and food insecurity without the schools is a real issue for a lot of kids, there are a lot of places in this country where it's just not safe to return to school. I have a niece who is a teacher's assistant, her husband is a HS teacher, and the mama of 2 great nephews is a pre-school teacher. I'm afraid for all of them. But then a lot of parents (including ones that may be kicking up a fuss about getting schools open) are lousy teachers because they aren't trained to do it, so the kids will suffer. One of our local school systems opened for in person classes this Tuesday or Wednesday and announced yesterday that someone at a middle school tested positive already. Yay, Micki on the better glucose test. I wonder if you keep being diligent about no snacks if he may be able to go off the insulin in the near future. A lot of human diabetics can control their levels through diet. I wonder if you are going to have to do testing if you can do it through urine instead of blood. It would still have its challenges but would not be invasive (just potentially messy). Glad you got some sleep. You must have been exhausted to have slept through all that gardening noise. Great news on the rain. Hope you got enough to help a little.
How is Scooter doing, Becky? How's the foot? Did the new bike arrive yesterday? Looks like Port A is going to get hit by Hanna. They just about got recovered from Harvey.
Chele, that's odd about the short bread line, but you did well on other things in YS. I hope the unmasked woman had a medical excuse, but probably not. Chef Iggy has a lot to work with in the kitchen today. We hit 11 days of 90 or higher before we only hit 88 on Thursday. Now we are starting the streak again. August is usually our hottest and driest month, so the worst is yet to come I'm afraid. Garmin is still down. So my watch talks to my phone (sometimes) but it doesn't go any further. No word on when we'll be back to normal. I've been back and forth with the RE agent on house stuff as the new owners gear up to take possession. I've been getting questions like what's the combination to the gun safe and what's the security system code (I gave him our #s but we don't know if the renters changed anything), what's wrong with the garage door opener (maybe it needs new batteries), and those kinds of things. We have been signing forms through a digital format, so I don't know if we will get actual paperwork mailed to us or if it will be through that format. I thought perhaps if it was going to be a stack of papers, it might arrive yesterday or today.
Is this an ice cream day, Kathy? I can relate to the healthcare anxiety. Just don't get anything that you need to go to the ER. Good that you had extra wipes to share with DM and DS. I lucked into some at WM the last time I was there (they had just set out a pallet and they were going fast), but I need to start looking for them again. I don't use a huge number of them, but there are certain jobs that I need them for.
Liz, hope you are having a quiet weekend and Gary enjoys his golf game. Is this coming week DBIL's surgery?
Are you working this weekend, Denise? Are the stormtroopers coming to Detroit?
We might get some rain this afternoon. The sky looks pretty angry right now. I've been working on signage for my fair displays--yes, the fair is still going on. We're doing a Giants double header today--last night's game followed by today's game. Good to have baseball back, even if there are no fans in the stands and everyone is wearing masks most of the time.

I've sold two houses over the years, but never with this hassle and no occupancy allowed until signed, sealed and finalized.
just put this into the oven...Blueberry Almond Crostata...simple because I used Pillsbury ready made crust. Roll out almond paste, center on crust. Pile on blueberries, pleat up the edges, brush with egg white, add sliced almonds to crust, sprinkle sugar on crust part, and back 40 min at 400. Fingers crossed. ciaochowbambina.com/blueberry-almond-crostata/
earlier I cut off more of the tree that grows like a weed and shades part of the lawn lawn so much grass won't grow. It is on the curb for the city's ever two months pick up.
changed bedding, did laundry and now I am going to do my daily news clippings for museum archives on Corona here. No sign of their opening.

Thanks for the start Karen. Is that a cucumber in your avatar?
Chele Scooter has left her ear alone but she has always shaken her ears hard because they are pointed and with the bandage she could only stand up one ear.So she must have shaken it enough to get the bandage off the ear and Kenneth went ahead and cut it off since she doesn't scratch it.We finished our last red watermelon yesterday and will cut the last yellow one tomorrow I guess. You made a good haul at the market.
Karen I was walking by Kenneth's chair and Scooter was laying on it.I was seeing something in her ear not paying attention to which ear it was and the bandage had slipped off the back of her ear.I think she had shaken her ears so many times it came off.The sutures feel odd but they are stiff.I accidentally touched the back of her ear and she whined so it must be really tender back there.I had read online the ear could be deformed with one of these blood clots and I can tell it looks like it will be on the outside. She seems so much happier now.She still won't eat her dry food but she will eat her dog treats and human food of course.Sometimes she goes a couple of days without eating her food though. My foot still hurts. I know it will take several weeks yet.The bike came while we had gone to buy groceries yesterday.Kenneth tried to start on it yesterday and the first thing he did while trying to cut a couple of straps off with his pocket knife was cut his hand instead.Blood everywhere but I got him all wrapped up and told him to take a nap.I figured out this morning those straps just slipped off each side.He got it put together but the tension is too tight so I have to pedal it in reverse.I'm hoping eventually the tension will get easier. It gets the same amount of steps regardless so I don't guess it matters.I am only doing 10 min at a time right now because of my knee. For about 5 minutes today it poured down.Houston escaped it thank goodness.
Linda How is Micki doing?

Karen, how was the double header? Weird without fans, isn’t it? Did you get any rain? I made corn bread this morning from a King Arthur recipe. It was not a machine bread. Iggy thinks it turned out pretty good. We have had some fairs go in around here, too. Be careful.
Linda, how did the crostata turn out?
Becky, wow, that tension on the bike must be something else. I guess there is no tension control on this one. I am glad Scooter is doing well.
Not much planned for this hot summer day. All the chores are done and we can’t go anywhere. Time to read. have a good day.

Linda, the prior occupancy was a new one for us as well. It has definitely been a hassle but hopefully tomorrow it will be just a memory. Did you get some sleep last night? How does Micki seem today? I heard about your continually escalating covid numbers. It must be a bit scary to live there right now. Our numbers are going up as well but not like yours are. The crostata sounds good and a bit easier thanks to the Pillsbury doughboy. Dale wants to make a peach cobbler this week, so I'm buying the peaches and that will be my contribution. What kind of weed do you have that grows so tall? Probably a good thing that the museum isn't opening and some things are closed again. That has to be decreasing the numbers soon.
Yes, Becky, the previous avatar was an 18 inch long Striped Cucumber. Today's avatar is my harvest from this morning--tomatoes, peppers, and a purple Asian eggplant. Peppers and eggplant will be combined with fresh Swiss chard for dinner, along with beans and rice. Does your new bike not have a tension adjustment? Interesting that you can pedal yours backward. That doesn't work on mine. With the change in landfall, I guess you will have even less of a chance to get any rain from Hanna. Even though it didn't hit Corpus, it hit where they are so devastated from covid that it's going to be a real challenge. It looks like there is another possibility of a tropical system in the middle of the Atlantic that may take a similar path. Hope you get something from that one. How is Scooter doing with her ear now that it is unbandaged?
Chele, the doubleheader was 50-50--lost one/won one. The win was down to the wire, however. With more players testing positive, I wonder how much of a season we will actually have. So, even the losses are a good thing because at least we're playing. A lot of the ball parks have a program where you can pay to have a picture of yourself in your team gear put on a life-size cutout so it looks like you're at the game. It's $99 each for the Giants and we talked about it, but at the end of the season, you have to go pick up your cutout because they won't mail it to you. In LA they also had a virtual section of fans. They have piped in crowd noise and LA has their usual bad organist. Congrats on the cornbread success. The recipe looks similar to one I make but I use buttermilk and add some diced onion. I usually don't put in as much sugar as the KA recipe has, but extra sugar isn't necessarily a bad thing. I intend to do only what I have to for the fair this year. I'm still not totally convinced it's going to happen with the rise in covid cases that all our local counties are getting. We got very little rain last night, despite the scary-looking skies. May get some later this afternoon but not holding my breath.
I changed the bed and did all that laundry, plus workout clothes, and furniture covers. Dale and I also got out on the water early to beat the boat traffic. I love my new vest. I still had to contend with 3 boats and a jet ski, but I steered clear. It was weird because the water was warmer than the air and I could feel heat coming off the water. Garmin is still down. This is Day 4. So I will have to wait to get things uploaded to see about my intensity minutes and other stats for the week, since I used a different watch for the kayak trip. It's been rather frustrating and I can't believe they have been down for this long. It was apparently a ransomware attach for sure and they really messed up handling it. I hope they have their act together in case it happens again.

Chele, I know what you mean about those weird anxiety dreams. I've had my share lately too, although I've also had some really funny ones. I went over to DM's yesterday to get my share of the grocery order. It was sunny and blue skies until right before I got to her house and saw a wall of water coming towards me. The rain stopped as soon as I was done loading the groceries, so I managed to find the only shower in the area! Homemade cornbread sounds good.
Karen, you sure are going through a lot of hassles with the house, but I hope it will be over soon. Like Linda, I never had the complications of someone taking occupancy before the sale was done. I had a small bowl of the ice cream last night and it was very tasty. It had a lot of flavor, so a small serving was enough. I don't use a lot of wipes either, so I'm fine for awhile. I have a couple of the soft packs and most of one canister left. It is good to have some sports back. The basketball teams will be playing soon in their Orlando bubble. Hope that all works out for them. Really strange for the baseball games to have no fans, but that's kind of fun to be able to have a cardboard cutout of yourself at the game. I saw something about an app where you can indicate when you want to cheer and it increases the crowd noise they're piping in.
Linda, how did the Blueberry Almond Crostata come out? Sounds delicious.
Becky, hope you, Scooter, and Kenneth are doing okay today. Sounds like you had a rough day yesterday. Is there any chance of sending the bike back if you can't do anything about the tension? I'm thinking pedaling backwards could be harder on your joints.
Denise and Liz, hope you're having a nice weekend.

Chele There is a knob for tension control and Kenneth connected it where it's supposed to work but not forwards evidently. When I cycle in reverse it's fine.It gives me a workout in the short time I'm doing it at a time right now so I will take it.Enjoy your quiet day.
Linda Wow on the length of that cucumber.I love cukes. It does have a tension adjustment and it's as loose as it will go so I don't know what's wrong.I don't really need to push it between my tendinitis and right knee anyway. We did get a light shower which has cooled it off to 77 right now.It has thundered some so Scooter has been my companion or more likely the other way around. She has only attempted to paw at it once. She is feeling better today and she is still drinking a lot of water I'm sure from the Prednisone and then has to go a lot.Tomorrow she goes down to 1/2 Pred a day instead of 2 x day but will continue the antibiotic 2 x day.Tomorrow if she feels like it we will let her stay outside while we go to HEB if she wants to.We made a quick trip to Wally today and she didn't even try to get out the front door.I have another online friend who has a Garmin that's been talking about the site being down.
Kathy Yesterday was hectic.Today has been much more sane. I love your avatar.I think I could send it back but with all the problems we have had putting it together I hate to do that. When I was first starting PT all I could do was rock forward and backward on their bike and rocking backwards felt better.

Becky, can't he reconnect the tension or have someone in phone advise how to fix it?
Blueberry almond crostata was great. No sugar in the berries but the almond psst across the bottom was just enough.
Saw something where Fox was adding audience to games...like real footage of crowds ?
The tree is a tree not a weed. It just grows with weed speed. It is thevetia...a sort of yellow oleander. Great if you want fast spreading shad but drops long slender Leaves and yellow flowers all year and has to be thinned so wind doesn't uproot it. All parts poisonous.
I finished using the pole cutter to trim the tree and DH hauled it to the. Run for Monday.
Then I did floors in laundry, two baths, entry and kitchen. Back hates it. Washed all the throw rugs from door entries, bathrooms to dry in sun.
finished a puzzle and made dinner.
Talked to dsil law back East with the allergies so bad it gives her asthma, she cannot even open a door and stand there a minute. I suggested she wear a mask if she is outside...that is what they used to sell to general public for. I think stress is a major factor on this year's allergies. She is worried about daughter in DC near capitol, son with health problems, the horrid political issues, a her old cat with kidney disease and more. The daughter is in DC for her husband's grad school at Georgetown where they said this semester it is all computer. She took a job teaching autistic elementary kids and has no idea if they will take back the contract or how classes will happen. In person will mean a lot if contact in that job.
My brother is still coughing but no worse. His son who had mild Covid goes back to work Monday, but son's wife now has a cold..or?
They say the virus will go on for years with devastating economic repercussions. I think I need to read a good mystery.
