Good morning all. Well I finally got both the day and date on the same page. All I can say is that some mornings are better than others. I was using my Garmin to get the date and because the site is still down it may have incorrect information...or I simply read it wrong. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it LOL.
I slept well and once again very grateful for that pleasure. Judy I got an email that Shelter In Place was in so I immediately downloaded it and started it later in the day. So far I'm enjoying it! This is by far a different writing style for Nora. Thanks for the suggestion.
Nothing on the agenda for today. I will do most of my walking indoors as it's still hot and sunny out there. In fact I skipped the evening walk with Carl and LuLa last night as I just wasn't up to it and didn't want to push myself. All in all it was a good walking day with over 15,000 steps. I walked as I read the rest of the Katherine Center book and that helped.
After coffee, I shall plan and track my day.

Good Morning, WW Friends~
Happy Sunday!! We are expecting a scorcher today and it is only 10 and already HOT!! I hope to get dressed and out for at least a minimal walk before it heats up TOO much! We had blueberry oatmeal for breakfast, and now are left with only 1 serving each of red grapes and cherries. Everything else is gone from last week's f/v shopping. DH made a big salad last evening and I sliced up two leftover loin pork chops to put on top. Using up leftovers in preparation for a new week.
Ann ~ I was off by one day all day yesterday,so I fully 'get it'. I had asked my DH what we were going to watch and mentioned that we usually watch "60 Minutes" but he smiled and said "yes, but it isn't Sunday". Oh my .....
Judy ~ Hopefully that scratchy throat and headache is just allergies. I occasionally get that, and if I am careful to us my allergy meds for a couple of days, it tends to go away. Fingers crossed!!
Pam ~ Hope you're having a great time!!
I am going to get ready and try to get a walk in then we'll be going out for lunch.
BBL. Make a great day!!

As this weekend slowly winds down ...... we have had a wonderful time, except that we had horribly high temps today. It is 7 p.m. and still 92 dg on my front porch, and humid! I did get my double walk done this morning, then we went out to lunch. I had a ham & cheese on onion roll with lettuce & tomato for lunch.
We have been watching a lot of movies this weekend. We watched "Scrooge" yesterday (the 1970 version) and it was wonderful! There were several 'Christmas' movies on which surprised us, but we enjoyed it immensely!! Today our movie channel showed a Western "A Man Named Sledge" with James Garner and we watched that. It's just too hot to do much else outdoors.
DH made his trip to Kroger for f/v and we are now completely restocked! He even got both a watermelon and a cantaloupe and he is cutting them up and putting them in Tupperware right now.He brought home a Subway sandwich (turkey & black forest ham) for our supper and we had some mango salad alongside. He also brought home two packs of Country Style Ribs - because I had been talking about them recently - and I have looked up the Instant Pot recipe and will be marinating them and cooking them in the IP tomorrow.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Hey all,
We are also in the middle of a heat wave here. It was very hot today but DH and I managed to do quite a bit around the house. There’s so much we need to do and when we’re gone every weekend, it gets hard to accomplish much except the basics like laundry, meal prep and shopping, light cleaning and so forth. So this weekend, he installed a new faucet in our upstairs bathroom sink which had been leaking. He was disappointed in the quality of the old faucet (only a couple years old) even though it was rated to be a good one. I acted as plumber’s assistant handing him tools and helping him off the floor. He gets discouraged because he was always able to do so much and at our ages now it gets harder and harder. But I think in the end, it came out great and he was proud of the fact that we didn’t have to call in a plumber. So, he still has his talents.
Then I took down all the curtains in all four windows of my living room cleaned them and hung them back up and we took down our bedroom curtains and I’ve stowed them away. We are checking into getting new windows so I’m not going to replace those older curtains until we decide what we want to do. We need to repaint the bedroom and so forth. Even though it’s not a ton, I feel like we accomplished a decent amount and we both also did yardwork. I’m not much in that category but I helped pull some weeds and haul some brush into the mulch area. I also contacted a couple carpenters for quotes to either rebuild our entire deck or replace a few rotted boards. Whether we stay here or whether we move, these things need to be done. I love our deck as it looks out on a small but very private backyard with a brook running through it so it’s a peaceful place in the midst of a busy area.
Sue, tomorrow we are supposed to be near 100° here. I have noticed in the upstairs bathtub and shower then I have to spray Clorox bleach cleaner nearly daily because of the high humidity and possibility of mildew and mold accumulating. We don’t have central air conditioning and only have a few window units in upstairs bedrooms and one big one downstairs. They work well but we’ve been blocking off the bathroom and today we decided to leave the doors open and the upstairs AC units running to keep that room from getting too humid. We have a large attic fan but we just discovered last week that it stopped working so that is also a concern. There is always something!
I went grocery shopping today for lots of fruits and vegetables🍉🍎🍍🍓🥦🥒🥬🍅 in addition to Diet Coke🥤 which was on sale and the DH’s diet root beer and diet cream soda. I felt like I had an off a lot of drinks in my cart.😂
I have a busy week coming up because my boss is back from his two weeks vacation plus I have a hair appointment, a dental appointment, more real estate training, and an outdoor lunch in with a friend. I’ve been so housebound for so long that this feels like a really busy time for me when in ordinary times I’d be working full-time at the college and doing all this stuff, too. My life has really shifted through Covid. We also have an appointment with a deck person on Thursday and with a window person Tuesday night at the house.
Ann, I am glad you like the book. I am so annoyed because I started a book called Dear Edward and it had been in my Kindle from the library for a little longer than I remembered. I was just getting into it when it poofed away! I’m so tired of that happening. I get wrapped up in some books that I get for free with Kindle and then by the time I get around to the other book, it’s time is nearly up. I will have to start paying closer attention. I have started delaying delivery of some of the books which works well. I really wanted to get back to Dear Edward so I checked into just buying it from Kindle but I didn’t want to spring for the $12 or $13 whatever it was. Not worth it and I’ll request it again at the library ebooks.
I’m watching a new Acorn Channel show called Line of Duty. Love it! It’s another great British show.
Sue, your lunch sounded fun. I’m also losing track of days! They all run together. Are your schools opening up in the fall in Michigan? They haven’t decided yet what they’re doing in our town. I wish we had more national guidance but I am thankful that we have amazing Charlie Baker as our governor. He’s terrific.
waving to Pam. I hope the storm did not affect you. Good night all.

Happy Sunday! We had a wonderful weekend, in spite of awful rainy weather, courtesy of Hurricane Hanna. She, thankfully, passed us by, but her tail end swirled line after line of thunderstorms through. DD2 and her BFF made it down just a couple hours after we got to the camp and in that short time, water from the higher tides put the road under water. Even though it is just a short stretch that goes under, it is very stressful to drive through, especially if you are unfamiliar with the road. DD was a nervous wreck when they got in. Later, we ordered take-out pizza and the girls made DH drive, lol. They made it back safely and we had a nice evening visiting and playing Mexican Train dominoes, something new to DH and I. It is a very fun game and we played several games again Saturday and Saturday night. Saturday evening we went into town to our favorite Mexican restaurant. The tide was lower and there was very little water over the road, in spite of all the rain. We decided to eat there after discovering there were outside tables now and only one other table besides ours was occupied. The food was delicious and we indulged in margaritas, too. I texted our yard guy and lo and behold, he knew of a carpenter who may be able to fix the deck and porch. The guy called us this afternoon and promised to get back in touch and set up a time to meet and look things over. I really, really want this done before a hurricane hits, but there is already another disturbance that looks like it may turn into one within the next couple days. Oh well, we can only try and hope for the best. This morning, DH drove into town early and brought back boudin kolaches and cinnamon twists which we enjoyed with scrambled eggs. Then we packed up and cleaned up which went quickly with everyone pitching in. DD2 was driving her BFF back to NOLA (we sent the leftover pizza to her BFF's DH as a consolation prize for having to cook for himself all weekend) and then heading home to BTR. DH and I left shortly after and stopped in town to pick up his prescriptions from Walmart. When we got home, DH put a pork loin on the grill to cook very slowly and I made a potato salad, then went to Mass. It was in Spanish, but the priest very nicely interpreted his homily in English. The rest of the service is the same whether it's in Spanish, Latin or English, so it was easy to follow. We had a nice face-time chat with Madison this evening. Leah was already in bed, so Madison actually got to talk for a change. I encouraged her to help Leah learn to take turns chatting on face-time. Leah wants to do all the talking and M gets frustrated and leaves, which only reinforces Leah's behavior. I told M we have to help Leah learn to be patient and wait her turn to talk, because Grammie gets sad when I don't get to hear what she wants to tell me. Tonight, she got to show me her new "classroom" and furnishings. They have moved the former office down to the basement and put bookshelves, rug, table, bean bag chair and cubbyholes in for Madison's use in online learning. She will also have a desk, yet to arrive. She was so excited to show us everything. DH's pork loin came out fork-tender and delicious! I ate way off the reservation since Friday, so tomorrow I will have to buckle down big time. I will try to walk tomorrow morning, if it's not raining. It was good to catch up on what all of you have been up to. Have a great night and I'll "see" you tomorrow!
