Karen, I have my mother’s eyes so I might as well have her glaucoma, huh? I didn’t ask the ophthalmologist what I could use instead, because he wants to see how the eye does without the steroids. I could have driven. The eye just felt weird and I was much happier being a passenger. I used the leftover dressing from the no mayo potato salad. I would normally whisk diced garlic, chopped cilantro, lemon juice, EVOO, salt and pepper together. The DLM sushi was great. I tried their vegetable spring roll and tuna tataki for the first time and boy, were they good. According to Wikipedia “Maytag is a blue cheese produced on the Maytag Dairy Farms outside of Newton, Iowa, the former home of the Maytag Corporation.” Glad you enjoyed your cheesecake and sea bass celebration. Any new forms needed today?
Linda, I fear that whichever way the election goes it might get violent seeing what has been going on lately. It seems worse than the late sixties, early seventies. I would vote for a donkey before I would vote for Trump, no offense to the donkey meant. How did it go this morning with the shot? It was great you could all go back to bed yesterday morning.
Liz, I hope you are not melting on the sidewalk going from the train to the subway. I hated working in the city during the summer. I bet it smells really good, too. How are the teeth and joints doing?
Denise, we are heating up again today. I got the July electric bill. Gulp! I turned the temperature on the thermostat up a couple of notches.
Becky, there are plenty of people of all philosophies and beliefs stirring up trouble. We need the sane, sensible people of both parties to step up. I believe in country first, not party first. I did not back Biden but I feel he is a better choice. I am glad to hear the Scooter girl is better and I hope you continue to improve.
Kathy, houses are all pretty close here, too. I near another storm might be headed to Florida and that it will be a busy hurricane season. Oh, no, Mr Bill! Just what Florida doesn’t need.
I have my workout done and made the Mediterranean tuna and white bean salad a d am washing workout and yard work clothes.

Linda, I hadn't heard about the Democratic HQ bombing. I did remember that McVay was from AZ. I went third party in 2016, so I essentially threw my vote away because I couldn't in good conscience vote for either major candidate. While Biden was about 8th on my list of Democrats who were initally running, I will go for Biden this time because he is the lesser of the evils. Hopefully he will pick a really good VP candidate to make me feel a little better. I agree about needing younger people running. I was really excited about several of the Dems initially in the race who were not even close to being eligible for Medicare. I think there should be term limits for both houses of Congress. And, I agree that protests are fine as long as they are peaceful.
I hope your eye continues to heal and you don't have the need for any eye drops, Chele. So there is a link between appliances and your cheese. I have never seen that brand. Is it different from other blue cheeses? I found a couple of HUGE cucumbers that were kind of hidden in the pepper plants. So I brought them in and made a batch of cucumbers and onions in sour cream, cut up and froze some for Arya's upcoming dinners, and still have about 14" of one like I had last week that I can slice and eat. No new forms today and Dale checked our checking account and the wire transfer for the remainder of the proceeds of the house is "pending". That will pay off a chunk of what we owe on the downpayment for here and should be able to pay off the rest quickly with Dale working again. I agree with you about voting for livestock before Trump. I need to make the tuna and white bean salad again. Might do that next week since we will have Salsarita's tomorrow and that will have black beans in it. What kind of white beans do you use when you make it? I'm not a huge fan of navy beans, but like other white beans. I think I used chickpeas when I have made it before.
Kathy, like Chele, I saw about the pending tropical storm. Looks like it will hit So. FL so maybe that will keep people indoors and scare away the tourists. TN will hit 100K cases today, and climbing. I saw Publix has Haagen Dazs on sale this week, so you might have a chance to try another flavor of the light stuff to see if it's any better. It looked like all the light varieties were mainly chocolate, which I don't prefer.
Is Scooter continuing on the mend, Becky? How's the knee and foot? I heard about a protester getting killed in Austin over the weekend. I hope things have calmed down there.
Denise, is your hot weather continuing? We are still in the upper 80s but the humidity is just nasty, so it feels like upper 90s. We are expecting scattered showers today and 80% chance tomorrow. Of course, I have to be on the road tomorrow.
How's the week going, Liz? I know you are still tired from all the long days and the stress but I hope you are staying healthy.
I had a nice long swim this morning and Garmin seems to be back to working the way it should. I spent part of the morning in the kitchen and that's been about it for my day so far. Picking up CSA order in a couple of hours, which is mostly meat for Arya. We lucked into both organic pork and beef this week. We are trying to stock up for her because meat was so scarce for a while. Plenty of yield from the garden right now, so I think we only have green beans and candy onions coming from the available veggies. In addition to the massive cucumbers this morning, I harvested a zucchini, a few peppers, an Asian eggplant, and a handful of cherry tomatoes plus a couple of small slicer tomatoes. I dry sauted the veggies and put them with pasta for lunch and it was good. Tomorrow morning I will take off all the jalapenos that were supposed to be mild and gift them to one of the techs at Osteo. I might put a small one in my next batch of salsa, but they are too hot to eat straight. Dale found that the tree guys left a stack of red oak already cut up that he is going to retrieve and I ordered mushroom spawn this morning. In addition to the usual shiitake, I decided to try my hand at Lion's Mane, which will be a new one for me. It apparently takes a little longer to grow but is very much worth it--tastes like lobster.

Karen, good luck with the new mushroom lobster project. Nice of them to cut up the red oak even if they did wreck your driveway. Congratulations on getting the proceeds from the NC house and paying down the lake house. That has to be a relief. Meat and poultry prices have skyrocketed here, another reason to get the carnivore to eat more vegetarian meals. Your little carnivore has no choice. She needs lots more protein than humans. I felt so bad for both of you having to go in the car with your reluctant, complaining passenger. I can only imagine what the baying was like. Teddy was a typical yippy little dog. His complaining was down in his relentless high pitched bark. I did the whining and crying. I use cannellini beans for the salad. They have a mild flavor and Iggy loves them. The cukes and sour cream sound great. I don’t make them any more because the sour cream upsets Iggy’s stomach. Our Hot Sweet Thing cayenne peppers have all been mild so I am happy. I put a couple of small ones in the tuna bean salad.
It is 85° right now with 41% humidity. We are looking to hit 90° by late afternoon. This is typical summer weather for us in July. I am sitting under the umbrella on the patio listening to the birds, barking dogs, AC units and mowers. A nice breeze is blowing every once in awhile to cool me off. It reminds me of summer spent with one of my Kokomo aunts sitting in lounge trees under the big oak tree. She was the fun one who took me shopping and played cards and miniature golf with me.

Chele, I also have my mother's eyes which is not a good thing. Hope the eye continues to heal without the drops. It's definitely better if you can avoid the steroids. Lol on voting for a donkey, but same here. I'd even vote for a rock. I totally agree with what you said on voting for country before party and needing the sane people of both parties to step up. That storm is still a mess without a defined center, so it's making it hard for them to predict. At the moment, it just looks like some messy weather for us, but the winds won't be that strong. Let's hope that holds up or it shifts out to sea.
Karen, the Haagen-Dazs was very good, so I will probably try another flavor. I think the Cherry Garcia is unique though and it will remain one of my favorites. I just watched our local weather and they're really not sure where the storm will hit since it doesn't have a defined center yet. It does look like South FL will get some of it and we'll probably get more rain. Speaking of which, our thunderstorm of the day has arrived and it sounds angry! I wonder if Arya associates the car with going to the vet. That must've been pretty nerve wracking to her being so upset. Congrats on getting the pending payment. Sounds like the house hassles will be over soon!
Waving to all. Have a good evening.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele What do you add to potato salad instead of mayo? While Trump isn't my favorite I can't vote for Biden either. There is just no good choice again.I believe in country first also which is why I say I'm not a die hard Trump fan.Kenneth has an old friend whom he used to work with and he would not even be considered conservative. He is as right wing radical as a person can get.I'm a conservative and I just hate to see his posts on Facebook.I can't unfriend him since he and Kenneth talk on the phone every day so I try to just scroll on by.Kenneth said he has always been aggressive with his opinions but why he has to tell his opinion on FB every dang day just eludes my better judgement.I like how on this thread we can state our own opinions and still remain friends.I don't like to talk politics normally. Now that I'm off Prednisone my foot is hurting again and my knee is stiff.I go back to the podiatrist tomorrow.
Karen If there was a 3rd party candidate this year I think I would be willing to throw my vote away.If Biden picks Kamala Harris he might be able to do a full term but I think he needs a strong VP candidate.
Scooter is definitely on the mend.Last night I was thawing out a small container of Frosty Paws on the kitchen counter and she came in from the yard and before I knew it she had it off the counter and on her pillow under the kitchen table. My foot still hurts and my knee is stiff.I used a heating pad on both this afternoon.I will see what the podiatrist wants to do tomorrow.
The protester had an AK-47 and pointed it at a driver who was driving through the crowd so the driver shot back and I think the passenger did too.APD interviewed both of them and let them go of all things. The protester was white and was there for his black g/f who is wheelchair bound.Police have been watching him for several weeks b/c he brought the gun to all the protests including one outside the city manager's house.I don't condone the driver killing him but you just don't point an AK-47 at someone. All 3 of them had gun permits and that's supposedly the reason police let them go pending investigation.Of course they are calling for Manley's resignation again and to defund the police.People have a short memory since he was the one who handled the package bombings in Austin.
Chele We were up to 98 and it started raining somewhere near us I guess and it got down to 80.It's up to 83 again so it must be gone.

Becky, you can unfollow someone whose posts you do not want to see. They are still friended. They do not know. My brother's family did that to me...they never take notice of anything I post..including 5O th anniversary or illness , etc. funny because They care miffed when I do not like family posts sometimes. yeah..different politics, religious views, etc.
the bomb thrower who burned the HQ was a certifiable nut whose dad was trying to get him committed...tweeted stuff about how he impregnated Ivanka Trump...wow
yea on getting the house money at last, Karen.
Turns out the Asian restaurant is closed Mon, so Bob is getting food tonight.

Becky, I'm also glad we can state our own opinions and still remain friends on this thread. I avoid politics completely on Facebook. That's definitely a sign that Scooter is improving. She is a rascal! Hope they can help with your foot tomorrow.
Linda, that heat is unbelievable. You need the rain we're getting here way more than us!

Linda From time to time I snooze him for 30 days but I unfollowed him once before and he asked Kenneth if I blocked him because he wasn't seeing my posts anymore.Geez.He is a royal pain in the tush.I can't believe your temps this week.We are supposed to get up to 101 tomorrow but nothing like you are facing.I think I would hibernate in the house all summer.
Kathy The problem with my FB feed is the ladies at church are a little more conservative than me and they post this stuff too.I am conservative but I don't share political stuff on FB out of respect for my other friends who don't want to see that junk.
