Day 35 Get Ready to Weigh In
This is another day about getting ready to weigh in. We’ve been through this a number of times during the review plus a lot of us have years of experience monitoring our weight.
Have you gotten to the point where your scale number is just that, a number with no emotional or judgmental baggage?

The number on the scale has meaning to me. If it goes up or down I want to figure out why and correct the situation (I'm maintaining) and I do react emotionally. I say it is good when it is the right number and I get frustrated when it is too much up or down.

Yes & No
I look at the number on the scale as information to help me along the way. Since I am working toward goal weight again the losses are more affirming than gains or staying the same. The gains do not derail me but the losses are definitely incentive to keep going...they are the reward for staying OP and the staying the same/gains are the tests to strengthen my resolve to stay the distance.

Finally, I’m coasting into maintenance. The scale and I have conversations. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we argue. Most times I just let the scale win. But......As long as I am doing what I know I need to do I ignore the ups, enjoy the downs and smile when there’s no change.
When I’m not staying within my points and exercising regularly the scale becomes the constant reminder that I need to change course.

Hmmm, not yet. But more realistic about how to handle the number. A reality check for sure about what has to happen.

I don't believe I will ever get to a point where there are no emotions involved with stepping on the scale. However, it doesn't change my habits that allow me to maintain a desired and sustainable weight.

Like Lani, I don't know that I'll ever get to a completely non-emotional scale relationship, but I have gotten better at not letting it derail me, and that is the most important achievement for me and my scale. When I have a loss it is received as validation that I made good decisions in the previous week. When I have a maintain, I look at it as 'at least I didn't gain, and this is what maintenance looks like!' And when I have a gain, there is usually good reason for it and I use that as motivation to look back at what I did that likely lead to that gain, and I resolve to NOT do that in the coming week.
