Day 36 – Believe It!
To me this is a fun day because we come to terms with the idea that we have done “it” and are continuing to do “it.” (“it” successfully managing our weight)
Beck points out to us that since we have started the review we have gained/brushed up on critical skills we didn’t have before and learned how to use them consistently to be successful. She wants you to make a response card listing what you now know that has made you successful.
List your favorite skills you’ve learned from the book.
Think back on how much less you do behaviors that can lead you astray, such as fooling yourself, not sitting down to eat, eating mindlessly, eating too fast, and so on.
What habits that would lead you astray have you changed or improved because of the review?

My favorite skill is learning to talk back to myself when I have sabotaging thoughts, and with every review I get better. I can wait out cravings (sometimes). I know that my habits and routines need to be done everyday for me to be successful. I think of my whys often to remind myself why I'm doing this.

List your favorite skills you’ve learned from the book.I don't know if I would classify it as 'favorite' - more like necessity - is stopping myself BEFORE I eat something off plan, and having an inner dialogue with myself about why I'm about to go off plan, what that will mean for WI and reaching goal, etc. It's soooo easy to not STOP & THINK before you eat something and this skill has helped me more this time around. Think back on how much less you do behaviors that can lead you astray, such as fooling yourself, not sitting down to eat, eating mindlessly, eating too fast, and so on.I almost always sit when I eat, and I try to eat more slowly as well. I measure more, and track daily.
What habits that would lead you astray have you changed or improved because of the review? I think this review round, lack of consistent tracking has led me astray, but I feel confident right now in my ability to track daily and have it be something I WANT to do, not something I have to do.

List your favorite skills you’ve learned from the book. Probably the 7 step look at issues - I don't use it a lot but it is always helpful when I do.Think back on how much less you do behaviors that can lead you astray, such as fooling yourself, not sitting down to eat, eating mindlessly, eating too fast, and so on. Not sure about this one...will think about it. What habits that would lead you astray have you changed or improved because of the review? Again, not sure. I do know that I stop and think about things more before just acting. I was thinking about the explosion in Beirut yesterday and how in the past when say the embassy was bombed and I was in Beirut the FIRST thing I found myself doing after hearing the news was standing in front of the refrigerator with the door open looking for something to eat/soothe myself with. I didn't do that yesterday and wasn't really even interested much in dinner but did eat something anyway.

Being honest with myself about why I am eating if I'm not hungry.

Being honest with myself about why I am eating if I'm not hungry. This is a big one, isn't it?!

Taking responsibility for actions that don’t support my goals, and giving myself credit for the effort that I put in.

Planning what I’m going to eat for the day. Not eating while standing saying no to eating off plan- but this is a work in progress.
