I'm IN.
ππ΅ππ΅ππ΅ππ΅π
We'll be off to ShopRite and then to DBigBro's. We found out yesterday that he's opened another (secret) credit card. And that the computer mess he's created means that I can't get into credit card accounts while we're there - and when we come home, we find that some of the "authentication" processes send codes to (wait for it) either his email or cellphone. Yup. An exercise in futility.
Coffee... βββ... headache tabs... more coffee...

Diva, I'm sorry that BigBro is creating these challenges for you, and ultimately himself. I don't know what causes him to do that, but it is common among some people I know.
I've been working on various projects to prepare for a possible move abroad. When the move will be, we're no sure. But it could be very soon, potentially. Yet again, my husband and his department colleagues face possible layoffs. It could happen as soon as October. We're traveling abroad before then, for various reasons. Two flights have been canceled and needed to be rescheduled. Obviously these challenges are related to coronavirus.

Good morning all. I'll just repeat the weather forecast for Houston for the next week: Hot & muggy all week. Rinse & repeat. It's really uncomfortable walking in this yuk. diva49 , oh what a mess with Russ. What can you do? As long as he keeps opening another new credit card, he can continue to make purchases. I know it must be frustrating, to say the least. Good luck as you maneuver through these times. DH has another eye check downtown this morning with the retinal specialist. I'm hoping he's healed enough to stop going but we went through this a year ago and then the retinal issues returned. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If all is well, he'll need a new prescription for eye glasses so that might be happening later this month. No other plans. I'm IN and planning and tracking. Have a good day, y'all!

Prayers to all. Trying times indeed. Yes, that's the way technology works these days MJ and that makes it tough for you to help control the Russ situation. Cyndee - That's a lot to coordinate Linda- Hope you get good news I'm in, planned and tracked

diva, what happens if you just let be what will be? since he's already in the hole in negative funds (if i recall what you said correctly), and in the meantime apply for guardianship? and as POA can you put a lock on his credit so that he can't apply for future credit? one of my friends just lost his mom recently and he and his wife didn't know she had run up a whole slew of credit card debt. the creditors didn't get anything in the end and when she passed it was all forgiven.
just wondering if this game of whack a mole is even worth it. maybe it is. but this is feeling like someone else's problem and not sure it needs to be yours if it's causing endless headache and stress.
and i can tell you for sure that if my brother was doing this, it would be a case of "oh that sucks for you, i'm sorry you're going through that" and then go about my business and even moreso if it was my brother in law.

my covid test results were negative! that was fast. it was a very interesting process. long line of cars wrapping around the parking lot of anthem's corporate office (which is all work from home now so it's being used for this right now). get handed a packet with swab and a plastic vial full of liquid, already has your confirmation number on the vial. cough into your elbow three times, swab around inside of your cheeks for 30 seconds and then put the swab in the vial. seal it in the plastic bag and toss it into a big bin with a small opening at the top. all from your car.
adding that the way they "hand" you your packet is with one of those long claw arms that you use for picking things up off the ground.

DH's Doctor appointment did not go very well. He has had a retina issue with both eyes and had eye surgery on the right eye in 2018 with no problems. The left eye had the retinal surgery in 2019 and a repeat in 2020 but he's still having an issue with a "pucker" on the retina wall. The doctor is having him try 2 different eye drops to see if it will resolve but since this past January's surgery there has been no improvement. It's affecting his vision and his mood. We return in 6 weeks to assess it again. Thanks for the concern.
