I'm IN.
Today is Lucky #7's birthday - DGS MousekeTWO.
ππ΅ππ΅ππ΅ππ΅π
We are not done with Phase TWO of the Oh, BROTHER! Project. Today we will go up to CC and finish packing up the decor items and kitchen items. And bring the laundry that was in the dryer when I went over to AL to wait for the Optimum guy. Once the movers and Duane got to AL, we never got back to the independent living side until after 5 PM, at which point Toots fed the cat and locked up.
None of the tech in AL works; 2/3 of this is "on them" at CC with the bulk cable account and the wifi, and the phone can't connect to get the captions although it recognizes the internet connection. I don't know if I will be trying to fix that or leave it to the AL tech folks to work on with Russ.
Coffee... βββ... ibuprofen...

*for those that are new here and lurking π€

Just watching the weather to see where the tropical storms will go. Looks like the most recent models have the center of the cone more towards the Texas/Louisiana border not directly at Houston any more.

diva49,- Sending you lots of love and support. Yesterday was an interesting first day! we were on a one hour delay so they could have extra homeroom time. So that threw everything off. 1) Had a runner get to the tennis courts. He came back but then turned into an hour long aggressive episode. Luckily the principal helped and then saw why this student needs a PCA- we have no sub right now. So he made calls and hopefully we will get someone soon. 2) Then we had a kid with sniffles and sneezing. We handled it until he started to say he couldn't breathe. Called nurse- right as the running episode was happening on other side of school! She sent him home and he needs a Dr notice or COVID test. So now I'm the teacher with the "first suspected COVID kid on the first day!" Not the way I wanted to start, but the new principal is AMAZING. In 15 years, I've never had a principal help, be involved and then try to do something about staffing. I'm very impressed. It was his first day! So praying today goes better. I have a massage tonight and I'm SO ready, Have a great day and stay safe everyone

TGIF! Yea for the weekend. Like DotRen, said, we're watching the Gulf for storm #14. Still uncertain but it warrants paying attention to the forecasts. finreporter, you asked about my grands being on the computer so much during virtual school. From what I've heard from the Grands' virtual classes, they are meeting with each teacher virtually for at least 15-20 minutes. The choir teacher isn't trying to get the students to sing but it mainly visiting with them. This class is the 8th grade girls' Varsity choir so these students have been with this teacher for 3 years. Yesterday they discussed the kinds of snacks they like to eat: sweet, salty, etc. It seemed silly to me but the students were really involved in that discussion. The core teachers had short discussions, gave the students assignments and then signed off. The grands spent the rest of the time doing the assignment which were all done on the computer and submitted to the teacher. Both Grands had a 1 1/2 hour break in the middle of the day for Advisory and lunch so they got away from their screen and prepared their lunch. DGS11 has lunch at 10:25 and DGD13 at 1:08 which means they can't eat together. hpeterson1951, I am glad you have a Principal that is helping you. diva49, I hope things improved at the AL and that Russ adjusts well. Have a good weekend, y'all!

Hey DebDoesWW, according to the cone of possibilities, we will be the filling for the tropical sandwich of 13 and 14, if they hit land as they think now.

Me, too. We are just in the cone of possibilities, at this moment. A wiggle east on 14 and a wiggle west on 13, and things could change.
Life is so exciting in the south. LOL

hpeterson1951 , I hope the child only has a cold and not covid-19. It sounds like there is a good monitoring and caution taking place. Glad you got the support you needed. I had a nice 2.8 lb loss this week, probably including some from last week despite what the scale said last week. I want to do some cleanup projects today. The difficulty is that what I wish to do involves my husband's stuff. He must have about 25 or 35 pieces of clean clothing strewn on the guest bedroom bed and chair. We sort of use that room as an ironing room, and since neither Hubby nor I like ironing, the clothes just stay there. I really could use his help, but he is inundated with his work for his job. I would love to just make executive decisions about his stuff, but he's particular about it. I asked him if I could at least fold the stuff and put it in plastic containers and hide it, but he wants to sort through it first. When will that happen? We have another prospective real estate agent coming on Sunday. I don't want all of the clutter in there. Hubby's office is cluttered, too, but I understand that more. If he simply let me handle the spare bedroom clutter, it would be cleared up in a jiffy. Boom, boom, boom! With him involved, it will sit there until the last possible second.

Al Roker, on the Today Show, was talking that Storm 14 & 13 might overlap which "Has never happened ". He almost seemed excited about that possibility. What is it about weather guessers?! I hope they both go away!

This is surely old news to most (or all) people here, but I found an interesting chart describing normal weight fluctuations throughout two example days (Day 3 and Day 4). The earlier days 1 & 2 were in a different chart. Thought this may be interesting to someone. The Y axis shows weight changes throughout the day in grams. X axis describes activities in day. Day 3 breakfast, example person weighs 67.9 kg (149.7 lbs). After supper, 69.55 kg (153.3 lbs). Thatβs a 1.65 kg (3.64 lb) gain in same day. Weight decreases notably by next day breakfast. commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:PSM_V58_D221_Human_body_weight_variations_over_a_24_hour_period_2.png

cyndee that's a really great loss!
linda, the silly chat for their class discussion sounds good. we had a zoom meeting parent/teacher getting to know you chat yesterday with their teachers and they said this year a big focus for many educators given the virtual learning model is social emotional connection. so during the summer many educators were trained on how to help foster connection remotely and their chat about lighthearted subject goes along with that. it also helps the teacher be able to see where there may be issues at home. i thought it was interesting that they have their own sort of discreet way of helping to see those things where needed.

heather, i'm shocked that the parents thought it was ok to take their kid to school when sick given the covid factor these days. does the school do temperature checks on the students? are you and the students required to wear masks or is it harder to do that with your class?
