We went to Vons yesterday and there was already a section for Halloween candy! What the heck! Stores need to let me enjoy my summer before the cold weather stuff starts showing up!

Mike used to always let me know when he'd spy it on the shelves. ❤️

I like to say that the Great American Eating Season starts when the Halloween candy shows up in the store through New Years day. It starts with the candy in the store because of the people who buy the candy early and then eat it all and have to go back and buy it again.
Speaking of Halloween, do you think there'll be treat or treating this year?

bbbearsmom, While my first thought was "no", I am wondering if parents will put a mask on their kids and take them out for free candy. Everyone should be wearing a mask anyway, just need to fit it into a costume.

linda72 , We dump our candy into a big bowl and either I hand it out or the trick-or-treaters reach in to take some. I was thinking people might not want that to happen. Haven't discussed it with my husband about what we'll do. Wonder if the governor will cancel trick-or-treating? We've cancelled it before after bad storms and a lot of the state was without power. The mask is a good idea should see a lot of Halloween masks soon. Just remembered my nephew already posted a picture of his two kids in their Halloween costumes with COVID masks.

bbbearsmom, I suspect there will be many Halloween inspired masks for children to wear. You could get small fun size candies for kids, maybe each in a ziploc bag and lay them out on a tray for kids to pick up one. I think many towns will cancel trick-or-treating this year. In our area, there seems to be more activities at churches for the children instead of going door to door. The churches may not do that either. This will definitely be a different year for everything.

i doubt there will be trick or treating for us this year. they're not back in school most likely for the full fall semester. so no dress up at school, though i told them that if we can't trick or treat, i will buy them a big bag of candy that they can eat from for half the year. i would not feel comfortable getting candy from random houses even with masks. my girls will still dress up and then i'm sure they'll have a party online with their classmates so they can show each other their costumes.
each year since we're not home we end up just putting out a box with candy and the girls wrote a note on the front "take what you want, happy halloween"
