We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched! * government should run like a great corporation? *

Guess Tweety is over being p*ssed at Jared for skiing while Trumpcare went down in flames. Today he is supposed to announce that Jared will be in charge of a new "American Innovation" office at the WH. Not clear if this is to be in conjunction along with Jared's securing peace in the Middle East or not, which was the mission Tweety said Jared had back in January.
Jared says, "The government should be run like a great American company." Guess they didn't learn much about how government actually works from the Trumpcare debacle after all.
Now, I don't think anyone would argue that there is a lot of waste and unnecessary red tape in the federal government. Clearly things could be streamlined, but government can not IMO be run like a great American company. It can't be, and it never will be. The sole purpose of business is to make a profit. According to the Constitution the purpose of the government is unity, justice, domestic tranquility, defense, promotion of the general welfare of the citizens, and securing liberty for all. So no, IMO, the mission of our government according to the Constitution rules out its ever running like a corporation/business.
But then maybe Tweety is just looking for a way to keep Jared off the slopes.

Good morning Joyce and all the rest of you rabble rousers! Well, what a weekend.
I detest Paul Ryan and am happy that Little Lord Fauntleroy was put in his place - but in the big picture, how cheesy for a "president" to publicly humiliate his speaker? (Hmmm - maybe that's why he's orange, he's made from Monster Cheese.) I also find it laughable that Trump would request bipartisan efforts in fixing the ACA. I'm all for bipartisan efforts - but can you really say that in front of America after the last eight years of stonewalling, shutting down the government and earning the name "Party of NO?"

NatureLover, somehow Rs never seem to get that "Party of No" business. To hear them tell it, it is the Democrats who refused to work with Republicans for the past 8 years. Laughable I know, but Faux news has told them that so many times they actually believe it. I think if you look the word gullible up in the dictionary, you will see a picture of a Trump voter. The same will hold true if you look up the word hypocrisy.

Hi...
Joyce, I just got done reading that same article. My, first thought was, gosh, Jared must be some super whiz kid. ;-) LOL...then I remembered that his Dad had to make a HUGE donation so Jared could get into the elite college of his choosing because his grades weren't up to pare. ( can't remember off hand which one). It just never ends with this family. well, if they run the government like Tweety runs his businesses, then that means he will renig on his contractors just like he always does. This is just another roundabout way for this family to line their pockets at our expense.
The thing that really concerns me, is that while we are all talking about other things, Tweety is behind the scene getting us bogged down in Syria & before we know it, it will be another Iraq. Lots of money to be made off war..:-(
Every day we could think about the aggression in the world, in New York, Los Angles, Dafur, Iraq, everywhere. All over the world, everyone always strikes out at the enemy, and the pain escalates forever. Every day we could reflect on this and ask ourselves, " Am I going to add to the aggression in the world?" Every day at the moment when things get edgy, we can just ask ourselves, " Am, I going to practice Peace or am I going to war?"....Pema Chodron
Just wish each & every President we elect would, keep this in mind, but with Tweety especially, it just seems way too much to ask. I have 5 Grandkids that really are facing a dangerous world with the likes of the Trump family & friends in the White House. Scares the bejesus out of me!
Have a HEALTHY day...:-)

Breaking News is that the Senate Intelligence Committee wants to question Jared Kushner because he arranged meetings with Russian officials during the transition and how he met with a Russian Banking official that was under sanctions due to their involvement with Ukraine. Hmmmm, will the Trump base ever even hear this from the REAL fake news outlets???

Oh, and I heard an interview his COS gave over the weekend saying something like Trump is not a partisan President. What?!?! He is the most partisan President I can ever remember!

Terrifies me for my grandchildren too, Linda. You can bet that none of Tweety's grandchildren will be in the line of fire, but he could care less about what happens to mine and yours. For him they are simply pawns in his games.

And the thing about Tweety's partisanship, is that it is totally directed towards himself. I don't think he even cares about Republicans and their party. He doesn't care about anything but himself and increasing his own ego and wealth. The Republican party is just a tool for him to do that, and for some reason I can't understand they allow themselves to be used by him.

I do not believe he cares about the Repubs, either. After all he started out as a Democrat. He just follows the money - and lies.

Trump's companies have declared bankruptcy four times. So if , Fake Prez now wants to run the government like a business, the likelyhood of a 5th bankruptcy is pretty dang high! Putting my paltry savings under the mattress looks pretty good about now.

It has taken other unworthy Presidents years to make such a mess. With Dummfy it is a crisis a day.
At this point no longer care what he said or didn't say, I just want him to be given the bum's rush out of OUR White House.
