Good morning friends. Woke up feeling refreshed after a good sleep. Loving that feeling
Today I have a few household chores to complete and then it shall be a DOR. I want to sit and read in the screen room and take a few good walks with Carl and LuLa. That's depending on how hot the sun is today. It cooled down nicely once the sun set, but during the day it was hot as we didn't have many clouds.
After coffee (and weight in) I shall plan my day
Waving................will CBL

Hey all,
Happy Labor Day! Where’d the summer go?
Yesterday was peaceful and calm. I finished my book and DH did some yard work. The weather was very breezy all day. Today looks beautiful too. We slept till 8 after staying up late to watch a few more episodes of Ozark. We are on Season two. Their issues make ours seem paltry!
We will head home tonight. Not a lot on the agenda today. I’m liking these quiet boring days!
I chuckled about the haircut remarks about DHs. Mine has not gone yet and from the side he looks like his mother!! Haha. A neighbor here told me she loved his long hair. It’s honestly not bad on him but I know he wants it cut. My son looks great with the long hair. Youth makes a difference!
I hope everyone slept well. Off to have a late breakfast of yogurt and toast.

Pam, I meant to add that I’ve never heard of rattlesnake beans. You’ll have to tell me what they are. Also, I’m always envious when I hear about your fun games that you play with your grandchildren and daughters. Growing up and well into adulthood, here at the Cape we always had about 10 people around the kitchen table playing Uno or Yatzee or something like that. I will have to look at train dominoes. My DH is not as big on board games, but I love them. When I retire I will have to find a group to play bridge, cards, and some other boardgames with for fun. My parents were big bridge players and I learned in high school and used to play a lot in college. I do miss the games. And, they always make a low pressure way to have great conversations especially with young people.

Judy no clue where the summer went...but with all the HHH I must say I'm happy to see it go. I know you feel differently as you will miss going to the cape. Carl and I will at times play board games. We enjoy scrabble sorry checkers and parchessi and yatzee. Neither on of us are big card players. It's a good way to pass the time especially in the cold long winter months Glad you are enjoying Ozark. We are watching Arrow.....almost finished with season one. It took a little time to get into it. We are enjoying it now. Time to don the organizing cap. Will try to CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Labor Day!! I almost forgot it was a holiday - not that it matters because we won't be doing anything special today. That is sad ....
Yesterday afternoon we enjoyed a 'picnic' on the front porch with the leftover guacamole & salsa and chips, turkey breast and mango salad. For dessert we enjoyed the rest of the watermelon. It was a perfect meal and also cleaned out some of our fridge space. We didn't eat until about 7,so that was our evening sit-out and the timing was perfect.
Another good night of sleep all around at our house, which is a blessing. I actually slept in until 8 o'clock this morning!! I haven't done much so far except for my yogurt 'n berries breakfast. DH has gone out to run some errands and then we'll decide what to do with the rest of this day.
Pam ~ I have to agree that your game-playing sounds like so much fun! DH and I have played Scrabble together (only now we play Words With Friends on our tablets). You really got the work done in your garden!! Glad you got to visit with your DD's and with the neighbors.
Judy ~ Sounds like you are enjoying your time at the Cape! It is nothing like previous Summers, I know, but I have to remind myself that it is that way for everyone. Safe travels back home.
Ann ~ Your day sounds fabulous! I also want to get some reading time, as my Kindle is sitting out by my chair and has been for a couple of days. Our weather promises to be friendly today so I may try to get in a couple of walks as well.
Not sure yet what (if anything) we'll do for lunch. Supper may be an early one .... steaks are already grilled and I have sides already prepared.
Happy Holiday to all!! BBL. Make a great day!!

I have completed my first double walk. DH passed me on the way and when I was returning, he met up with me and walked me home. He had called earlier to ask if I minded if he went to see if there was an Alkathon today - and I said 'no' but I didn't want to go. He went and found about 20 people there (it is usually 75-100) and everyone masked and no touching and with social distancing. That was encouraging. Next holiday I suppose we will both go, we'll see. Anyway, I enjoyed having his company for the long walk home. We have decided to skip lunch and then eat an early supper instead. DH wants to watch a golf match on TV and I want to get into my new book! Have a great afternoon!

Yeah to completing your double walk, Sue. I have yet to see the great outdoors. Happy to say that my 'organizing cap' is off ... shower is done and now I can start MY day lol. It's too sunny for me to walk....so that will have to wait till once the sun sets. So happy that you and DH are sleeping so well. I bet that Rx is just about out of his system. Good riddance I say Glad DH enjoyed social distancing with Alkathon. I'm sure you'll be ready to give it a shot on the next holiday. Waving...and will try to CBL. My soup is heated and I'm going to enjoy it in the screen room. Carl is just coming in from yard work. I have a sandwich all ready for him.

Hi again,
I’m seeing on the patio watching the boats go by and several monarch butterflies are fluttering around. DH has two milkweed gardens for the monarchs. I had a small stuffed pepper for lunch and that satisfied me. Unfortunately, I binged on Cape Cod kettle chips and onion dip about 1130 am. I realized I just cannot have them around. It is way too tempting. I’m sure I gobbled up many pts worth. When I know they are in the house, they holler my name. Lesson learned for the gazillionth time!
Good walking, Sue! I’m glad your DH found a safe weekend alkathon. Holidays are so hard.
Ann, enjoy r&r!
Have a great day all!

LOL Judy...wish I were there to 'help you out' in the Cape Cod Kettle chip department. I no longer buy them. At one time they had individual bags...but haven't seen those in awhile.
I took a short hood walk. I actually went to 'get the mail' as I got an Amazon package delivered today. As I was about to put the key in the box I realized that it was a holiday. DUH...oh well, at least it got me out and about.
Now it's time to read.

Back from our final walk of the day. I almost wimped out but decided to tag along at the last minute. Glad that I did. Time to get comfy cozy and read a bit.
Sweet dreams all.

Good evening all,
It has been a long and busy day. Debbie and I walked 3 miles+ today. I stripped the bed and started laundry before I left. When I got home I started another load and had a breakfast of blueberries, yogurt and muesli. The on call HH nurse came about 9:30 and I helped her find the supplies to change DH's wound vac. I think the wound looks like it is filling in but will wait for his regular HH nurse to give her opinion. The wound vac people called the other day and said for us to be sure and send in the paper verifying receipt of the vac and giving our insurance info. I went looking for it and couldn't find it. I called and confirmed the hospital had already sent it.
Lunch was the veggie and turkey chili and I enjoyed it very much. So filling! After lunch, I returned a plate to Dee that had held the dinner she cooked for me. I also dropped off a bottle of apple juice Debbie had loaned us weeks ago that never got used. Then I headed into town for a grocery pickup at Walmart. They were unable to provide cantalope or light English muffins, so I went to Super1. No English muffins, but I scored some excellent sweet corn for dinner. The sign said "Produced in the USA," so I'm thinking it came from the midwest, as our sweet corn season ended in June. After I unloaded all the groceries, I boiled some eggs and cooked potatoes for a potato salad, then put babyback ribs in the oven for dinner.
I got to sit in the lazyboy and play WWF for a while and chatted with DD3 on facetime. Then I went out and picked okra and pulled some weeds in the garden. Some of my potted plants were looking dry, so I watered them and chatted a bit with the neighbor behind us. The neighbors are noticing DH is not working in the yard or garden and are inquiring as to what's going on. I took a shower when I went in. Okra plants always make me itch.
I made the potato salad, transferred the ribs to the smoker and prepped the corn. I chopped okra, tomato, onion and garlic to steam in the microwave and got the dishwasher emptied and reloaded with breakfast and lunch dishes. Then, I had a half hour to relax and watch the news with DH. So depressing! In a BTR suspected road rage incident, one driver shot into the car of another and killed a 3 year old girl. The dad drove off the road and wrecked and passers by stopped to help, but the child was dead. Such needless violence. God help us!
Dinner was delicious. By the time I got the kitchen cleaned and the last load of laundry in the washer, I was exhausted. DH put a movie on, Cosmos, but I found it exceedingly boring, so played WWF and read fb. DD1 posted a lovely piece about Labor Day and her memories of my dad and uncle. She has such a gift of writing about feelings and memories. When my mom died, she wrote a piece about how my parents met and got married. She has also written about losing her DSIL, who died suddenly just 10 days after giving birth and another piece about being a social worker. I am so proud of her!
Tonight, when I took out my contacts, I noticed my left eye is very red. I found some eye drops in the medicine cabinet from the last time I had pinkeye and started using them. Just the aggravation I need! My eyeglass prescription is way out of date and I have to be able to see to drive DH to and from hyperbaric for the rest of the week. I will see what it looks like in the morning and go from there. PT is coming at 10:00 or so to work with DH and we need to get lunch afterwards and head to hyperbaric by 11:30.
I am going to attempt to read a bit, but am guessing I will quickly nod off and head to bed.
Judy - We have Zapps chips which are similar to the Cape Cod kettle chips. My favorite flavor is Cajun Crawtators and I cannot have them in the house. We buy them sometimes on a camp weekend. Put it behind you and carry on!
Ann - That little bump at the scale is probably water weight and will disappear once you are back on track. I tried to pick up mail and contact our medical insurance about a bill, forgetting about the Labor Day holiday, so you are not alone.
Sue - It was nice of your DH to check things out at the Alkathon. You may feel comfortable enough to attend the next one. WTG with the double walks! I have slowly added more and more steps to my days since March. I used to struggle to meet my goal of 7500 steps. Now, that is usually my minimum and today I have 12,212. I bet you will do the same, now that the weather is cooling off.
