Thanks for the good wishes yesterday. Iggy is doing well except for pain where the stitches are. He is listening to doctor’s orders. He was grumpy yesterday, I found out, because he was not able to eat his breakfast because of constant interruptions. After lunch he was fine.
Becky, my Hoosier family wouldn’t know what Thai food is either. It is all a matter of what kind of restaurants are around you.
Linda, I hope you are feeling better.
Denise, get some rest.
Liz, good luck with Zoe. I hope you are doing better.
Kathy, you are getting all the rain this summer. Send some our way.
Karen, I heard the tiger story on the radio yesterday. Any news?
We stayed home today. As you know I haven't been feeling well and Iggy is not allowed to drive. I hope the doctors can find out what is wrong with me soon.

Chele...sending good thoughts your way.
We are staying under 100 today..the smoke haze blocks some sun. 90 now a bit after 11, but even though toe is not hurting much to walk in and not at all off it, I am behaving today.

Karen, thanks for the start. Are you ready for some football? FSU kicks off at 3:30. It will be strange with a limited crowd.
Chele, glad to hear Iggy is doing well and that he's not as grouchy. We're getting some tropical squalls today, so even more rain. The squalls only last a few minutes and then it's calm again. So far, it's just been heavy rain without lightning. Sorry to hog all the rain! I think we are sending some over to LA, but they probably don't want it. Maybe some of it will work its way inland. Hope they can find out what's ailing you soon. Take care and both of you rest up this weekend.
Linda, ouch on the toe! I've done that too and it is painful. Seems like a good day for all of us to take it easy.

Linda, you hit that footstool good, didn't you! I've never had much luck abating the pain by taping the toes together either. Did you reapply the arnica before you went to bed? That should help a good deal if you keep using it. My grandmother was never a big fan of behaving. Is your air clearing any, despite the haze? I guess you saw the photos of the orange haze in SF, but someone who lives there said they weren't having difficulty breathing.
I know we didn't have 57 in May, Becky, so I agree that you probably weren't either. Did you have another cool morning? We didn't and it's humid here so 81 feels like 98. What a nice memory for your niece and her husband at the ballpark. We went to a big flea market back at Arlington Stadium when we lived in Austin. It's amazing how many other events they have at ballparks both during the season and the off season. The only Asian food we ate growing up was Chow Mein out of a can. So I didn't know what Thai, Japanese or even decent Chinese food was until I was out on my own.
Chele, I'm glad you found out why Iggy was grumpy. Guess you should have taken him to IHOP on the way home from the hospital.Stitches are never comfortable. Will they dissolve or will he have to go back to get them taken out? Did you drive to YS or the closer farmers market? Dale went to the orchard this morning and came home with 40 lbs of sweet potatoes, about 15 lb of gala apples, a dozen ears of corn, butternut squash, some nice blackberries, and fresh muscadines, so we are set for this week as well as having sweet potatoes for most of the fall into the winter. The box said they were cured so I won't even have to do that. What are you hearing from DB on the fires? I have a friend that lives there and she has been posting periodic updates on FB. She, BF, and kitty have their bags packed but are currently not under an evac order.
Are your squalls from Nineteen, Kathy, or some other system? Any entertainment on the pond lately? I saw pictures of Ft. Lauderdale on TWC and they were getting quite a bit of rain from Nineteen. It looks like it could be a TS by the next advisory and I was surprised to hear them say it could hit land as a hurricane. Looks like it could hit LA or MS (but DB/DSIL not out of the woods), which means we would get something from it week after next. Enjoy your 'Noles. How limited will the crowd be for FSU? Is UCF playing this fall? I thought UT started their season today but it's not for 2 more weeks. But Dale's alma mater, Texas State University (or Southwest Texas State University when he was in grad school there) is playing right now on ESPN2. So we have that on. Clemson plays Wake this evening. I got used to the idea of there not being football this fall, so I'm glad you mentioned the FSU game so I started looking. No baseball for us until at least tomorrow. One of the players tested positive so they have to go through the protocol with contact tracing, etc. to determine when the team can play again. They got about 3 or 4 new players in the past week due to trades, so we are wondering if it's one of them because we hadn't had any problems all season.
Liz, how was the week? Are you able to eat more solid foods yet? How is Zoe doing with her UTI? Is Wally behaving? Is Gary still playing golf on the weekends?
Do you have the weekend off, Denise, or are you working more OT? This isn't a time when people tend to take vacations, so is your department short-handed right now?
I did sit down to watch my gardening shows this morning, but otherwise was really busy. I baked a spaghetti squash, pulled apart a couple of pomegranates that I found at Publix this week, made a batch of food for the hummers, did all the outdoor watering, watered all my new succulents, cooked Arya's breakfasts for the next 4 days, and made Dale a loaf of bread. I will put together a stir fry for dinner (leftover shrimp, spaghetti squash, cherry tomatoes, onion, peppers, eggplant, and what ever else I decide to throw in) and put scallops in the air fryer for Dale. We might get some rain soon and it's coming from the south, which is a little unusual for us..

Karen, I think our rain is from 19, but haven't looked at the weather report today. We're in the 2nd lightning delay at FSU, so this could be a long game. 30 more minutes each time they detect a strike within 8 miles. I thought I heard them say there were around 25k people there. The stadium seats over 80k. It looked to me like a lot of people moved down to lower seats and the upper seats were more empty.

And finally, we're at halftime! They said there were just under 20k people there which would be right around 25% capacity. (not 25k as I thought he said earlier) That makes more sense.

Karen, you mAde quite a haul. No place to keep 40 lb potatoes here although in the 1800s people had root cellars For that and canned stuff because upstairs the jars would explode from summer heat. cured potatoes? What?
my onLy Asian food growing up in and even after college upstate NY was Cantonese at Chinese restaurant. Found Thai and Indian in the 80s when I moved here. Also my first avocado and artichoke! Spouse Went back to World Market because he forgot Walkers shortbread cookies...came back with a large box of six packs , a container of chocolate covered Scottie cookies, GERman chocolate bars , McVities chocolate covered Grahams for me and wine. Thank heaven I do not like shortbread which is like 50% butter. This is getting to be a problem. He has election anxiety major..not just who wins, but what happens next. Somehow we have to cut this back.
He had trouble with atm...they changed an account name for the bank prepaid debit we use instead of real account debit so if compromised they only get what us on it. The process looks different to transfer money to it. So I found sandals that left my toe alone and we did that, dropped mail at post office substation and picked up something at CVS. I did ok on the toe, but got off it again at home.

Game over at 9pm! FSU blocked 2 field goals, an extra point, got 2 interceptions and still managed to lose. The QB didn't look good at all. It's going to be a long season unless they make some changes.
Karen, I'm also wondering on cured potatoes. Never heard of that. Looks like Clemson will be doing well again this season. They bumped the FSU game over to ESPN2 when the Clemson game started. My phone rang right away and I knew right away who it was. A very indignant DM wanted to know what happened to the FSU game, lol!
Linda, I only remember one Chinese restaurant in the town I grew up in. They had good food and we made Moo goo gai pan at home, but we didn't have any of the other Asian varieties. Those Walker cookies are deadly, especially the chocolate covered ones. I have election anxiety too, but I think I've had it since 2016.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele I am glad Iggy is doing better and that he was fine after lunch. The only other food besides American we eat is Mexican and that's only occasionally.
Linda I just saw that post on Facebook.I hope you are feeling better.Glad you are behaving and taking care of your toe.Our high was only 90 today.
Kathy You have been hogging all the rain this summer.I don't want any storms but you could share some rain with Chele and me.
Karen The cool front is gone.It was in the 70's this morning and got up to 90.We have chances of rain most days this week but not much.At least no 100's expected this week.Dale made quite a haul today.I just don't really plan on watching much if any football especially after the players of the NFL are making such a ruckus. The Longhorn band wasn't able to play at the UT game today but even though BLM wanted to do away with the Eyes of Texas song they were going to play it (I guess a recorded version) before and after the game.
Kathy It's the same at the UT game. It's 25% capacity but that's still 18K people.Yesterday the students who wanted to go to today's game had to be tested for Covid.
Linda Can you put the snacks that Bob brings in the house up somewhere high where you aren't tempted? His election anxiety is not helping either one of you when it comes to eating for sure.

Linda (and Kathy), curing root vegetables, including sweet potatoes, is a method of preserving them so they will store longer. It involves keeping them in a somewhat humid environment at 80 to 85 degrees for about a week and a half. I was going to put them on the stairs going up over the garage. Since they were commercially cured, it saved me some time. We planned a root cellar when we built this house, but the area doesn't get as cold as we thought it would, so we just use it as storage. I had the same comment as Becky about Bob hiding the snacks. I put the stuff Dale buys that I can't resist on the top shelf in the pantry because I won't get the stool out to get something down. What kind of German chocolate bars does Bob get at World Market? I used to love the Ritter Sport with dark chocolate and hazelnuts.
Sorry about FSU, Kathy and, also to DM. It looked like they had plenty of chances but just couldn't convert. You had a long day just trying to watch one game. We gave up on the Clemson game at halftime. I didn't even see the final score until a little while ago. I think you're right that they will have another good year. Like you, I am well into my 5th year of election anxiety. A friend posted something on FB by John Pavlovitz entitled, "If He Wins Again." Wish I hadn't read it because it increased my anxiety. Can you see what's in my new avatar? Yes, turkey vultures! We have apparently been adopted by 3 younger ones that were hanging out in a tree at the edge of the property line yesterday. And the three of them were on our roof when we were walking back up from the lake after kayaking this morning. And it seems to keep the doves away, so maybe they will stick around. I saw Islamorada got hit with a ton of rain from Sally today, and also saw some photos of Cocoa Beach from yesterday. DSIL posted their storm surge map on FB. It looks like they could have some issues if it's a Cat 2 and comes anywhere close to them. This was one of the weeks I was planning to go down for a visit so I'm glad I didn't get buy my ticket. TWC has Mike Seidel in Gulf Shores, AL, which isn't far from DB/DSIL. At least it's not Cantore or Abrams.
Becky, I didn't realized Texas played last night. Pretty lopsided game. When does A&M start their season? I can't understand why BLM would have an issue with Eyes of Texas. Clemson played in NC where the governor is being very strict about no more than 50 people at a gathering, so only a handful of Wake Forest parents go to attend the game. We watched part of the UTSA-Texas State game and they really had the band and cheerleaders spread out in the stands. Sorry your cool front left so soon. Will it be coming back any time soon? It doesn't look like you'll get anything from Sally. Sorry.
How is Iggy doing, Chele? And, how are you? Do you have a doctor's appointment coming up? Nothing on the tiger. Speculation now is that was either a bobcat, which is common in this area, or a mountain lion or cougar, and those are very rare here. Or a very large house cat. There were multiple sightings in the same general vicinity, but no video. The deputy who first called it in was on an off-duty job so no body cam.
I just about had the lake to myself kayaking this morning. But it was extremely humid, so not particularly comfortable. I was still sweating when I got out of the shower after I got back home. I did 3 miles so I know I will feel it in my arms. Workout clothes are in the washer and getting them done is about all that's on my agenda for the rest of the day.

my solution is to have him stash it so somewhere the man cave/computer room. i have only once got craving to search. We have frozen or eaten the croissants, dislike shortbread and German gummy candy, so I am down to Ritter Sport bars...one like Nestles crunch, one coconut filled, and one with hazelnuts. at last they are small
smoky haze is keeping down temps, but finally 193 today. no stars at night.
i have got into up late with insomnia, up for the dawn shot, then sleep almost all morning and wKe feeling hung over....really got to try to change that...take something tonight.

Becky, wish I could send you some of this rain! It's getting a bit ridiculous and our dry season doesn't start until October or November.
Karen, I had turkey vultures dancing on my roof this morning! They sure make a racket. There were several turtles swimming around in the pond yesterday. I could just see the tops of their shells. I haven't seen too much bird activity lately, although I hear a lot of them. They said we're getting big swells off of the coast and Key West had already gotten 9 inches of rain when I heard the weather on Friday. It's never a good sign to see Cantore in your area! Hope your DB/DSIL don't get too much from the storm. I think the objection to the Eyes of Texas is that it was first played at minstrel shows with people in blackface. I don't think the actual lyrics are objectionable.

Karen Yes that was a lopsided win.On Friday the students who were going to the game had to be tested for Covid.95 of them tested positive and they expect more cases to come from the game since students weren't the only ones attending the game. I have no idea about the Aggies.I may watch a college game now and then but have no desire to watch the NFL this year with everything going on.It's not the song that BLM has a problem with.It has something to do with the history of the person who wrote the song. They are just saying a few cooler mornings but mostly highs in the low 90's the next week.
Kathy I wish you could send us some rain too.I imagine turkey vultures are pretty noisy.
I hope everyone has a great evening.
