Welcome to the Clutter Patrol, formerly CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Beautiful day outside. Sun is shining, there’s a cool breeze - bringing in the fresh air today.
Ruth - I had to laugh when you said you might think the $50,000 was drug money. We always think anything over $10,000 in cash is, and this bunch actually smelled like stale pot. I know there are forms for individuals when they bring in $10,000 cash, not sure for businesses. My boss mentioned that none of the 50s or 100s were marked with the counterfeit pen, but I didn’t count those, I counted the 20s. We get a lot of cash customers between $5000 and $10,000. I don’t know how people feel safe carrying that money around, even if it’s all 100s.
I hope you are “enjoying “ your new washing machine. It will definitely get a workout. I probably do 3-4 loads a week, but they are small. I have to use a stool to get to the items in the bottom of my machine, it’s up on a 6” platform. Since I really didn’t pay that much attention to the Sabres last year, I can’t remember what type of player Johansson is. I know the sports guys are pretty excited about the trade.
Dottie - I hope you got the sunshine yesterday afternoon. Since I’m not all that fond of summer I’m enjoying the cool weather. It’s actually going to be 10* cooler than usual thus weekend.
Martha - you definitely put your time to good use. I smile when I hear people talk about how much they enjoy mac and cheese. I like macaroni, I like cheese, but I don’t like them together.
Not sure what I’m going to do today, still not sleeping well and my energy isn’t there. I will crockpot the beef stew, and will decide what else I’ll make on Sunday. I might make sauce, I can use that on anything.
Enjoy your day

Joyce, I’m surprised to hear about people bringing in that much cash for a down payment. We usually put part of the down payment on a credit card (usually the place will only allow $1500.00) and if we are making a bigger down payment we just use a check. No sun yesterday and so far today it is cloudy and cool. I just wish we would get some rain.
Martha, good job on getting the baking done before heading to work. The house always smells so good when making cookies. Hope your air quality is doing better.
Ruth, prayers for Carol. Hope the scans bring good results. Two more things gone from your house and great getting some extra $$ for the items. I’m sure you will enjoy your new washing machine and glad to hear that it is quiet. In our family I pay the monthly bills and Bill handles our investments, although most of it is thru a financial company. He has quarterly phone meetings with the advisor and we go annually for an in-person meeting. I have access to the accounts and I use an excel spread sheet with all of my log in and passwords for bills that I send to Bill on a quarterly basis if there are any changes. I also sent the boys the combination to our small safe so they can get all the paperwork if necessary.
Cloudy today, I wish we would get some rain. I need to head out later this morning to pick up a few things but then will probably be home for the rest of the day. The cooler weather does make it easier to work in the yard. I will take out a few more of my plants, still have tomatoes on several of the plants and hopefully they will ripen soon. The tomatoes and cucumbers did good this year, had a nice supply since the beginning of August but the squash and peppers didn’t do as good. I did get a few nice zucchinis but no yellow squash. I really enjoy being able to go out and pick my fresh tomatoes, a summer favorite for us.

Good morning. Another cool morning here today. Sunny and bright. They are saying 80 possible next week. We are picking up Mara about 11 for the weekend. Also bringing home several old non-working microwaves from DS’s to add to our items for our city’s clean up day in early October. They take them w/o charging and I’m guessing not knowing what to do with them is why DS has several old ones at their house.
Joy, have they checked your thyroid and your hemoglobin in relationship to you being so tired? Wish they could figure it out for you. I’m surprised whomever counted the 50’s and 100’s didn’t check them with the pen. I even bought one of the pens because of selling some bigger items and not wanting to get ripped off. Yeah, I don’t know anything about Johansson either, but I know Staal is really a class act! I will watch a little of the Stanley Cup; but anxious to see when next season will start and what precautions they will take and all.
Dottie, we have a safety deposit box and Heather is our executor, and she needs to be a signature on that; but we haven’t gotten it done yet. Should work on a to do list with some bigger things like that and make sure it gets done. We met with a financial advisor a couple years; but basically Stan wants to control our investing (until he can’t) and so we just touched in with the guy after some extensive meetings. He’s the one who told me to take SS at 62. Updating our will is another thing that needs to be on the to do list. Also, I want to finish up our jewelry listing with pictures and get that to the insurance company; and then I want the kids to look at it and the girls to figure out which pieces of my jewelry will go to which daughters and granddaughters.
When we were at DD’s the other night for Harper’s birthday; I brought home 4 overflowing bags of 6/6x, 7 clothes that Sawyer had outgrown; and 7’s that DD had determined she wouldn’t wear due to fit or style or whatever. There’s the gal that I had donated 5’s to who said she’d take 6’s also. So I sat down yesterday afternoon; sorted out some things that just needed to go; sent her a message and told her what I have and asked if she still wanted it; she is thrilled and coming this morning to get it. I gave her all of it except for a few pairs of pj’s and I’m going to list those soon. Sawyer had so many winter pj’s (between their house and ours); so I gave the gal a bunch and am going to sell some. She even wanted the shoes that the toes were scuffed up on for play. So I felt good that she’s getting all of it and with the exception of a half dozen pairs of pj’s, none of it made it’s way to the basement!!
Ok, need to go get dressed and get moving. Have to leave in an hour to go get Mara. It’s cool but we’ll still get her outside to play. DIL texted me yesterday about Mara’s schedule at our house and she wants to get her on something similar at their house. That requires our night owl DS to get up in the morning. We’ll see how it goes there.
More later. I’ll check in later!!

We got rain!! I'm sending it your way. The air is so much better. The downfall to the rain is the flooding in areas that burned.
That is good that DIL wants to get Mara on same schedule at home as your house. That will make it easier for both houses.
Prayers & Hugs for Joyce and Carol.
DH does the bills and checks on retirement funds. I know where to find passwords but that is about it. I don't feel comfortable paying for things online. Probably since I don't do it that much, I haven't gotten comfortable.
I'd be leary about having that kind of money around, even for an hour. When I worked at Toy's r Us during Christmas one year, they came around and collected $ from the registers on a regular basis. If I was given a lot of cash, I would call and ask them to pick up.
Time flies and it is time for work.
Hugs~
