This is a place for all those in their 50's & 60’s to get together and gab. Talk about what is on your mind be it the WW'er program, family, friends, or anything you'd like to share. The Lighter Side Cafe is open 24/7....First one here please use the copy/paste method to get us going. All like-minded people are always welcome here.

Good morning all and welcome to Thursday LOL. I'll be off in a bit to go to my WW'er meeting and then will stop at BJ's Warehouse for a few things and we'll make our way back home.
Wishing all a pleasant day. I need to get a move on.

Thanks for getting us going, Ann. I have my hot tea in hand gearing up for the day. Have fun at your meeting.
Carolyn, Happy Anniversary. I am hearing Dan Fogelberg's song in my head: Longer than ther've been fishes in the ocean Higher than any bird ever flew Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens I've been in love with you…
Kathy, I hope you can breathe a little better today. How is Leia's limp? I forgot to ask. Is she still grumpy? Change is hard, so I get her bad mood. Sending my best Zen vibes and lighting the calm candle...
Judy, I DO feel better after my haircut. I have been going to the same stylist since 1989 so she is my therapist as well. Iggy does travel a lot. He is a marketing manager so he goes where the customers are at industry events. He started out at Stouffer's hotel as catering sales, then moved to the Convention Center and became a certified events planner and then onto the NCR events team. Fortunately, he moved on before NCR left town.
Kathryn, I wish Teddy like the outdoors as much as Emma. We took him hiking once and ended up carrying once we hit the first teeny tiny stream of water. He sat his tiny butt down and refused to move.
Iggy is on vacation for a few days. He rested yesterday but today we will be out and about buying last minute stocking stuffers and just soaking in the holiday spirit. Have a peaceful day, everyone.

Chele I love that song. Thanks for the walk down memory lane! Like you, I've been going to my hair stylist Enzo since the mid 70's. He's the only one that KNOWS my hair. I really need a cut/color, but will wait for him to return from vacation! Ciao

Good Morning! My name is Carol, and I’m wondering if this supportive, friendly group has room for another member. I am a Lifetime member who is currently making my way back to goal using WW on-line. I’ve been a Lifetime member since 1976, but have not been at goal, or even close to goal, for a long time. I’m 63 years old, retired, and I live with my husband in the mid-Michigan area.
I have been following Kathy on Connect, but I’d like more interaction with like-minded people than I believe Connect offers. I want to get to goal and STAY there this time. I’ve been reading your posts for awhile, and you all have inspired me with the way you support each other.
I hope everyone has a great day. I am especially thinking of Kathy with the move today.
Carol

Welcome Carol! Good to have another nice likeminded person on the boards!
Chele, I figured it might have been NCR that brought you to Dayton. Both my grandfather and my father were in management at NCR for years. My grandfather for 40+ years and my dad for 44 years! In fact, I have one of the first cash registers ever manufactured. Buttons are like $5, $1, 50 cents! It's a great memento of all their years of service. We moved because with each promotion, we were in another part of the U.S., but we were in Dayton for my formative years. Small world. Iggy sure does travel. Do you ever go along for your own sightseeing? He sounds very accomplished in that job with so many, many details to oversee. I hope he'll be home for a while during holidays.
Sue, I love malted milk balls, too. My mouth was watering at that description! Also, I make the white chocolate peppermint bark to give away. I added a small bag of it to gifts this year. Last night I spent hours wrapping all the Santa stocking gifts for NJ. In my family, Santa did NOT wrap stocking gifts, but I am finding that's not the case in many homes. LOL Glad you had fun with your niece for lunch.
We had our Presidential holiday party last night. Beautiful decorated and catered. It's a fancy cocktail party with heavy and usually amazing hors d'oeuvres. I was very proud of my ability to have 5 shrimp and call it a night. One glass of wine... Today, drum roll please...someone actually told me I looked SVELTE. Now, that is QUITE a stretch of the imagination, but it felt great to hear. I have a very long way to go, but the compliments help. :-) Today I have my on campus TOPS meeting. I thought about skipping it and going out to a favorite diner with friends, but then I realized I need this meeting more than diner food today.

Ann & Chele, I love Dan Fogelberg songs, too. I also love the one about his running into his old girlfriend in the grocery store on Christmas Eve. Unrequited love! Ann, have fun at B.J.s DH is headed there today to get wine for NJ.
I can get a little blue at holidays missing my brother, parents and family but will try not to dwell and focus on all the good things. It'll be fun though I will sure miss DD and her family!

Good Morning:
Chele: Oh I LOVE that song. Thank you. Lovely. I’m smiling. (I can almost hear the melody in my head…but I have music playing…later…) I just LOL’d at having to carry Teddy. So funny. We need to find some stocking stuffers today too…
Kathryn: Camping! Fun!
Ann: Have fun at your meeting with your great WW friends!
Kathy: Lighting moving candles for you. So great that you were able to make such a dent in the moving costs! A feeling of accomplishment for sure! Your energy and organization is amazing.
Carol: So nice to meet you! I thought I felt someone lurking. Just kidding. Of course! Please drop in and share.
Judy: Oh those compliments along the way mean so much! Svelte is a great one. And shrimp and one glass of wine was an excellent choice. And going to TOPS too. You’re inspiringly successful! Woot! Woot! I just read your post about feeling a bit blue. (((Judy))) It's an emotional time of year...I know you'll focus on blessings but sometimes we just feel our feels. And that's OK too.
Sue: You’re on vacation now! Yay! I know that must feel wonderful. I’m sure the kids were excited yesterday as well.
Our forecast was threatening snow Saturday but is over that little fit now. A brisk 33 but we’ll see the sun today.
Got my hair trimmed yesterday. Twice a year whether I need it or not! Stylist had to comment on how she’s trimming off the last of the brown. Thanks for the reminder lady!
We had dinner out at a familiar place. After we stood outside by their wood burning fire for a bit. It was a good anniversary.
Today we have shopping and errands and some work to do at home. I’d better get ready to “hit the streets.”
I forgot to say that after the gym yesterday I went to WW and this time I stayed for the meeting. Taking that time to focus was good. The subject was supposed to be exercise but the leader changed that to “You’re here” as a success. And discussion of challenges and plans. One person talked about keeping a pot of vegetable soup handy so even if she indulged in a treat, she could balance with a healthy, low point meal. It has been so long since I’ve made that soup. I’m going to find the recipe and make some soon. I like to spice it up.

Good afternoon, everyone!
I’m just back from heading out this morning for last minute stocking stuffers, hair appointment, and few last things from the grocery store. Chele, I LOL’d at your comment on Teddy. Our dog before Emma, Katie, was just like Teddy. If we went walking in the summer she’d walk to the end of the driveway, and down the road to the first patch of shade. She’d sit her tiny butt down in the shade and refuse to budge. I’d have to pick her up and carry her too. Katie was half Boston Terrier and half Pekingese. She looked like a Boston, but had the personality of a Pekingese – so stubborn and independent!!! It’s amazing how different dogs’ personalities can be. Emma is pure Boston and is so active that if nothing interesting is happening at eye level she’ll look up and stalk the birds and butterflies! She has to always be moving.
Ann, I hear you on waiting on your hair stylist. I’m the same way about mine.
Carol, thrilled to have you join our group. I can’t wait to get to ‘know’ you better!
Kathy, good luck on your move – sending calming vibes your way.
Judy, I hear you on getting a little blue at holidays. I do as well because we lost our dad during the Christmas holidays.
Carolyn, you’ve got to love a leader that is so good that she’ll switch to the needs of the group. What a great topic!
This afternoon I’ll get in my walk and finish planning out menus for our camping trip. Years ago I just planned traditional camping meals and all thought of healthy eating went out the window. Now my menus are close to the same as home except I do add in homemade GORP (with some added M&M’s) since we are so busy hiking when out camping.
Waving hi to Sue!

Welcome Carol. There is always room for another Weight Watcher. Hope you post with us daily!
Well, I did go to WW'ers and was up .6! It came as no surprise as I do a daily weigh in to keep myself honest LOL. Actually I must say that since WW'ers revamped the program I've maintained in my 'happy zone' for the entire year! That's a biggie for me as normally I yo yo within 10#'s.
Kathryn I have fun shopping and planning for your camping trip. I hear ya on the planning!
Carolyn glad you got to a meeting and stayed. There is always something that I 'come away with'...even if it's just a friendly smile or a hug. Today's meeting was all about moving and I mentioned that when I don't get out to walk, I just throw in a 70's CD and dance around. Works for me LOL.
Judy I do miss that BJ's as they had great prices on the wine. Ours doesn't sell it. We usually get wine at Table and Vine which is in the Big Y in Greenfield. They have super prices. Judy I bet you DO look svelte. Take the compliment and run with it!
Well girls, it's time for me to unplug and relax. We had a long ride to WW'ers today due to the snow and the people that have forgotten that there are others on the road along with them!!!!! Sheesh!
Talk tomorrow.
Sleep well!

Ann, Are you near Greenfield? My very nice neighbor is one of the deans at Greenfield Community College and she loves the area. She commutes everyday, though! I think she will be moving up there when her youngest finishes high school. I hear it is so nice!
