OCTOBER GOLDEN HARVEST
Cooler walks Lucy, NTX
Making apple butter Molly, Mo
Golden sunsets Sandy, Il
Apple picking Connie, WPa
Golden mornings Diane, Ok
Aspen gold Sue, MT
Raking the leaves Kathie, Ca
Starting the thread off a bit earlier than I probably will but have to get up at 7am in the morning as I have the furnace guy coming at 8am to do the winter checkup. I am usually more of a night owl than this but 7am is really early for me.
First off I want to thank Molly for the month of September, you really did do a great job. We do have some with no names for October and if you want to add one just let us know. No pressure. We do it for fun.
Kathie, I’ll bet you will come up with a beautiful blanket for October, it is such a pretty month and a strange one with big differences in temps all month long all over, I think.
If anyone wants just do the QOTD even if it means we have more than one question. It’s fine we can handle that for sure. They keep it fun. Should do them while we are thinking of them, right?? I know if I don’t , I forget what it was I was thinking of.
Umm am wondering why I scheduled the furnace guy so early, bet I could have gotten a later time. Oh Well. I will get a lot done anyway, getting up that early!!
Will be back later on to see what is happening in your world on October 1.

First of all I want to thank Molly for doing the month of September.. you did a great job... now take a break but keep posting. does that even make sense?
Connie, thanks for offering to take October.. it means a lot to me to come here each night (early morning) before bed and post with you all..
I cancelled my appointment for the echocardiogram today... just couldn't face going, plus the air was so dirty they were advising everyone to stay inside. of course those who have to work outside and it worries me because they are saying if one doesn't already have breathing problems all this dirty air/smoke will cause them. Just hate that. I got mine from the smoky air two years ago.. the fires here in California just seem to keep on going.. every day more burns.. It's just terrible.
I couldn't do much today , think it was because of the air.. the advisory was to not do anything if you have copd or breathing troubles. but apart from that I just felt tired all day.. still too many things to do.. I didn't get on the floor Connie, I know better.. i'd have to call someone to help me up...… both my knees are shot so cant get on them. But I bent way down and with my cane slid all the stuff to the front. then I took it all out. lots of stuff to throw away, some too good to throw away. some new, never used stuff.. Decisions.. and I'm not happy with susan.. she said she cleaned the bathroom and she did take out the shower chair and the toilet riser.. but she never touched the bathtub or the outside of the toilet.. it's still dirty. and the shelves I have in there weren't even dusted. Not gonna use her again. She does a lot but not so good. she never moves anything to dust …. no can't have that.. besides she's not careful enough and I still worry about coronavirus. It's still out there. I really could use someone right about now though. too much extra stuff to do.
Have been looking for printer cartridges and just can't find them... think I will have to ask Ramon to buy them for me.. he can stop by a computer store and get them.. I got him an atm card for my bank so when he buys something for me he can just use that. It was hard because he would buy things and then I'd have to write a check to him for it.. this way will be much easier.
Need to go to bed.. can't wait to see what type of blankets Kathie is designing this time.. Nice to see a post from Doris.. Missing Linda. and Cat

Yesterday was the first time in about three weeks that we saw Debbie and she shared that Jeff is up to his old tricks regarding Maija’s tuition. He has falsified his financial disclosure and left off answers to several questions and this was a form given to both him and Debbie by the court. Debbie said she had to submit all bank statements, credit card statements, paystubs and anything having to do with finances for all of 2019 and 2020 which she said ended up being 80 pages whereas he gave one paystub, one bank statement, no credit card statement plus a statement that since Maija is 19 he feels he has no financial obligation for her beyond the tuition he has already reimbursed Debbie which is a lie as she has received nothing from him. He just doesn’t get that because of the divorce it’s the law in Illinois that he has to pay part of her tuition as long as she’s in school! But her lawyer is going to start investigating and when they get on the court docket be prepared to show his lies as they know he has hidden his inheritance as it is not showing on the one bank statement he provided.
With the crazy way college classes are being held Maija has a great opportunity that she is taking advantage of and Debbie is getting her from school today to be able to do it. She is ahead on her course work and all her professors have approved her doing this. Sam’s Dad is from Maine and is taking a road trip there to visit relatives and invited Sam and Maija to go with him. Sam’s parents are divorced so this will give them more bonding time with his Dad. They’ll be gone for ten days. Maija is very excited and I said that is so cool that she gets to have a trip like this. So she has seen the west coast, most of the mid-west and now northeast coast. I’m excited for her!
My haircut is all that’s going on today except getting a few things at the grocery store. Went to Costco yesterday but didn’t get much. Fred wanted to get golf gloves that one of his buddies told him about and it was a pack of four for $19.99. Also 40 bottles of water for $4.99 and the larger size of Downy Unstoppables. Then of course we picked up a bag of snack size candy bars just to have some chocolate in the house. The problem I will have is I like every candy bar in it! Plus Fred saw crackers he wanted to try and as soon as you came into Costco they had apple cider donuts for $5.99 a dozen and he got those as well. Also got a rotisserie chicken which drove Bailey and Bridgette crazy until I had cut it up and gave them the little pieces that fall off while cutting it up. I also will break up an actual piece of breast for them. I still can’t get over how good Bailey sits while waiting and how obnoxious Bridgette is with her beagle bark and jumping all over the place demanding chicken now! I just realized by saying what we bought that we sure didn’t shop wisely!

Good Thursday morning!
Molly, thank you for September's starts. Connie, thank you for taking the month of October. Kathie, thank you for continuing with our tuck-ins! Those blankets are really good to have.
Sandy, I know you enjoyed seeing Debbie yesterday. Prayers continue for her. How nice for Maija to have a road trip into Maine! Lucy, love your photo.
Today we ate the easy breakfast pizza that I prepared yesterday while I was doing our lunch pizza. It was so nice to have breakfast almost ready and we enjoyed it. Then we went for our walk. The ragweed is still bad, but I wore a mask. Our high today is only supposed to be 72º, and it was 50º when we walked. Lovely fall weather!
Happy new month! This month DS has a birthday, and DGS2 has one, too. DGS2 has asked for chocolate chocolate chip muffins for his birthday, so I will make those for him. There is no point in my baking for DS, since he manages a Panera and seldom eats baked goods outside of work. I am not sure how/if we will celebrate the guys.
Today the only "must do" is call for a nail appointment. I lost a nail, so that needs care. No plans for meals today -- we'll just see what we feel like.
Have some fun today! Diane

Cat, not sure if you are having to post etc with your phone or not. But we are all thinking of you and new month. so pop in if you can, so we won't worry. I don't do face book and don't know if Cat does or not, so will leave that up to some of you that do.
My furnace is good for another winter. nice young man wearing a mask and I had mine on also. In the mornings I kind of sneeze and blow for awhile and didn't want him to worry about me being sick. I am not. It is pretty chilly this morning. Pretty cause the sky is almost all blue and chilly cause it is 53°,possible rain this evening again. No plans for today, my neighbor may come over and we will work on the puzzle for a bit. Her back starts to bother her after awhile and I get tired of working on it. I am a walk by person. get a few pieces and quit. She would sit there all day if she could. LOL
Kathie so sorry you have had so much going on!! Are you going to have to get someone else along with Bobbie now that she is busier with her own life? would Jim be okay with that? My beautician finally got a facetime visit with her Mom's Dr. He got to see her Mom and try to talk to her and sees how far she has progressed, not moving all day, cannot walk anymore and does not know anyone or where she is. they wanted my beautician to bring her to the office. Boy glad she finally got them to do this. She really wants to take care of her at home but it is really taking a toll on her.
Molly, have you ever read any of Susan Mallory books? I find them to be a fast read and though I don't know if they are available for I phone or Ipad you could try. I am pretty sure they should be.
I have Emma's birthday presents to wrap. Did find her a thinner sweat shirt to wear out to play at preschool. but was wanting a thicker warmer one so think I have found one for her. Even has a place on the inside to put her name etc. Won't be a birthday present but that is okay. So will take care of that on computer when I am done here.
Sandy, that is awesome that Maija gets to do a road trip. The north east is really pretty this time of year. Sure she will have a great time.
My nail color this time is a good fall color. Bronze with the gold swoosh that makes it the Cat eye.
Have friend that is almost finished with her Christmas shopping. Really!! My QOTD is---- do you do your Christmas shopping early or like me wait until after Thanksgiving. ?

Hi!
AOTD I shop as inspiration strikes! I have a small gift for each one already. We give money for the bigger gift, but I'd like something elso to add to the small bag. If I get inspired.
I got an appointment to have my nails taken care of today! Hooray! We'll have to eat an early lunch, but that's okay.
Have any of you read the Quilting Mystery books? "Knot" is in the titles. I ordered three for my Kindle, and I'm hoping they'll be good.

Linus, my grandson, is one year old today. He now weighs 23 pounds, up from of3 pounds at birth. Yes I do my Christmas shopping early. I got in the habit when my parents would leave for Florida the day after Thanksgiving, so we celebrated Christmas then. My occupational therapist was just here and and gave me some exercises to do. Later my physical therapist is coming. I'll be exercised out!

Hi all!
Just thought I'd pop in to say "HI". Still busy, been back to work for three weeks now and that sure does feel wonderful, and slowly trying to get into a routine once again, but that routine will include mom and her Dr. appointments. Mom is doing better now that we have a 31 day carousal for her meds so there's not wondering if she took her meds or not. Still need to work on three birthday cards.
Yes, I do my Christmas shopping early, with a target finish date of December 1st, but this year that won't happen as I haven't even started yet! I think a lot will be done on Amazon Prime day.Plus this year I will not have any gifts to mail out because I am no longer doing that. Big relief.
The rental is pretty much sold and no work on my part. I may not be getting a lot but then again I'm not having to put out $60,000 plus to get it ready to list. The buyers are planning on remodeling and then selling. Which reminds me that I need to get back with my realtor on some documents, but next is mom's appointment.
See ya all later, and may you all have something that makes you smile and fills your heart with love and joy today. Remember it doesn't have to be anything big or planned, usually its those little unplanned things that brings us joy.

I lost a long post. I don't do much Christmas shopping anymore. When I do it is usually December.
Bill came and did yard work and I cooked spaghetti and veggies for lunch. Then we played rumicub and each won one game.
Linda it was good to hear from you. As for Cat, the last time I went to her Facebook page she hadn't played anything since August, I think.

Good question, Connie! (BTW, your nails sound lovely!) The author, Susan Mallary's, name rings a bell. I looked on her list at the library, but none of her newer books are familiar to me. Thanks for the recommendation! I need all the help I can get!
If I see a gift that is perfect for someone, I buy it. Beyond that, I usually write the list the day after Thanksgiving, and schedule two or three days to shop. This is my first year with Amazon Prime, so I might be able to do most of my shopping on Prime Day. Does Amazon advertise what will be on sale a few days prior to "the day"?
Christmas Eve also is a good day to find things on sale. One year, long, long ago, we left the kids at my cousins' house with my family on Christmas Eve, and finished our shopping.
Happy birthday to Linus!
After getting my hair cut, I went to Sam's club for the meat; a roast, a chicken and ground beef. It's in the Insta-pot now. Guy went to check out the old grain truck today, and found the gas cap missing, and all the fuel siphoned. Just about two miles from the barn, he has encountered a traffic jam--there is an accident on Highway 63. I read on Facebook that an 18-wheeler knocked a combine off the road on Highway 36 a couple of days ago. Sure hope the farmer had it insured! Those babies are expensive!
This is probably my goodnight! Be back tomorrow! ~~Molly

Diane,
I find two authors of books that contain "knot" in the titles: Elizabeth Craig (Knot What It Seams) and Mary Marks (Knot On Her Life). Marks seems to have written more books than Craig. Craig's titles say "Southern Quilting Mysteries."
Do you recommend either/both of them?
~~Molly

Molly: I forgot to mention yesterday that I would just love to meet your cousin. I'm sure we would have a lot to talk about for sure. I figure someday Jim's insides will collapse and we will rush him to the hospital by ambulance. He complains about stomach pain after every meal and lays down for a while. He doesn't handle pain well like I do so it is hard to tell how much he is really suffering. My DSon is having a friend fix the mirrored closet door which broke when Jim fell over backwards into it with his scooter. Should cost about $350....but, I don't even care about that so long as it is fixed. My cat hides in there when it is left open and that closet has a lot of collectibles in it which I don't want a cat playing with. Everytime he goes into the bedroom I go in and check to see that he turned down the speed and 9 out of 10 times he does not. So, I keep nagging but so far it hasn't gotten into his brain that it is dangerous.
Tucking you all in now in our NEW OCTOBER BLANKETS......DARK GREEN BLANKETS WITH A HUGE SMILING PUMPKIN IN THE MIDDLE WHO IS WINKING AT US.....with a thermostat of course .....sweet dreams!
