Potatoes and sweet potatoes have been somewhat demonized when it comes to eating them, do you eat them?

I haven't eaten them lately but I do eat them, mostly sweet potatoes. One thing I did when I started Weight Watchers is I gave up French fries.

I do eat them. We don't find the sweet potatoes that are orange inside often but the white ones, in season, are easy to find BUT very filled with fiber. Local potatoes are delicious! I don't have them often as I forget to but am thinking I might have them more often. One of my favorite meals in 1998/9 when first counting points was a baked potato topped with labneh and crumbled blue cheese with a sliced tomato on the side sprinkled with a tsp sugar.

I've been eating a white potato everyday for lunch and sweet potato quite often as well. My recent blood test at the doctors indicated my CKD, chronic kidney disease, numbers have gone down again so now I must cut out fruits and vegetables that are high in potassium as we had to do with my husband. The Mayo Clinic booklet I have on this says potatoes are very high and not allowed at all, but I will continue to eat them at least once a week as they are one of my favorite foods!

In the early days I had cut them out for the most part. I started eating them again when WW went to the, Core plan. I enjoy all kinds of potatoes and my husband enjoys cooking them. He’s diabetic so he can have potatoes since they don’t impact his blood sugar like rice, pasta and refined carbs. Over the last couple of years I’ve developed a habit of substituting turnips, rutabagas & butternut squash for potatoes.

I love potatoes. I don't have a big honking baked one anymore, smothered with butter and sour cream, but I will make a potato salad from time to time, or include it as a component in other recipes. I use sweet potatoes often too.
Remember potatoes au gratin? Those were the days.

laniThat's my favorite way to eat baked potatoes with lots of butter and sour cream!👍 My mom used to fix au gratin potatoes and put slices of ham in it, so good!

lani, mac, About twice a year I make Betty Crocker's boxed potatoes, either the scalloped or the au gratin. There fun but I wouldn't want to eat them more often than that, although if I had a chance to eat home made scalloped or au gratin potatoes I would take it.
