Good morning friends. Slept well and woke up to it spitting snow. To me it's better than rain but I'm sure I'm 'odd gal out' LOL. Rain just makes me ache all over.
I do plan on walking today....and hopefully it'll happen. Yesterday I only did that one walk and I felt restless pretty near all day. Of course, it could have been due to having the mask on at the salon, also. The pizza we had for supper DID brighten my day, though. Haven't yet weighed in, but I'm sure I'm wearing a good portion of it. Today IS another day.
Also, tomorrow is miss LuLa's bday. She will be 9. Carl picked up some of that 'doggie ice cream' that she likes LOL so that will be her treat.
Pam nuff said re: the political stuff. It will end...soon....I hope. Funny but after it's over people tend to get back to their normal. Why they just can't keep quiet about it now is beyond me. The other day I simply smiled and walked away from one of our neighbors that was gabbing about how HE felt. I really don't care So happy that nothing drastic happened at the camp. God is good. Glad you have your books to distract you
Time to finish up my computer stuff and then sit and have coffee.
Waving.....

Happy to report that 'pizza night' took off .2! Of course, that may come back to bite me tomorrow...time will tell. In the meantime, the snow has picked up. Lawn is covered and it's sticking to trees and bushes. Looks very 'festive' out there for Halloween

Hi all,
I woke up to snow and I feel like a little kid for the first time in many years. I love it! It has brightened everything up, and I have nowhere I need to drive (don't have a car anyway)! The pups and I were very excited running down the steps to go out on the deck to see it. LOL Ann, you are not alone - at least not this weird year! The dogs adore the snow! It's funny because they loathe the rain and getting wet but will sit on top of snow and ice piles for hours. Ha!
Pam, I am glad the damage was not too bad and that the carpenter is already lined up to help. Losing a roof would be horrible. Like you said, when you have a home in hurricane territory, you brace yourselves the best you can but expect the worst sometimes. Glad damages are not too terrible.
Our ukulele singalong Zoom class is having a Halloween night tonight. I might miss it due to the travel to the Cape. We'll see, but if I can do it, I will don my flapper costume! :-) It's a fun group and everyone is in the spirit.
I join the sentiment of all of you regarding political rants, rallies, news, opinions and nastiness. I just want it over, but I fear it will not be over very quickly this time regardless of the outcome. I have stopped watching news. It's ridiculous because no one is going to change anyone's mind and I don't believe there are many, if any, undecided voters out there. Ugh.
Ann, I have been researching the food sealers. Maybe I'll put it on my holiday list or a Black Friday amazon shop. There are two or three brands rated very well in the price range I'd like. lol Surprisingly, the big very expensive ones are NOT winners in anyone's category including America's Test Kitchens which I trust a lot. I just want something simple as I am not bagging up large quantities as some hunters, etc. might be doing. You have inspired me!
Sue, I hope you have a great day, too, and I'll be back soon. You sound like you are getting super organized for your return to work which is very smart. Less stressful for the first couple weeks back and by then, you'll be fully in the "swing of it."
TTFN..

Lol Judy I SO love snow. It's a mood booster for me and always has been. I am sitting here looking out and watching it pile up. I'm sure you will find a good sealer that fits your lifestyle. I also do not take stock in the gadgets that have so many bells and whistles that it becomes intimidating to use. My motto...less is more. We once had a microwave that had more buttons and settings and a gizmo on top where you could use metal in it. Hated it....and that got donated! Hopefully the person that bought it isn't in a rubber room lol. Our replacement is simple....like me. Again I am most grateful that our Cafe is politics free. Love you gals, but don't give a hoot which candidate you support Lol to D&D sitting on snow. LuLa and Luigi both use their face to plow through and all you see is their butt in the air. Puts a smile on my face to see LuLa as I can picture sweet Luigi.....

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
We have the cold, but no snow! It is definitely snow temp (35 actual with RF 28). I have to agree that there is something magical about the first snowfall! I did check that I have all the ingredients for our Tomato Soup 'n Grilled Cheese supper, should we get a snowfall (though none is predicted).
Ann ~ You know I am in total agreement about politics. I am so DONE with it!! I realize it is a civic duty, and a privilege, and all that - but it just goes on for so loooong!! I voted weeks ago (now) and would like to turn my attention to something else. Glad you had the happy memories of Luigi in the snow:-)
Judy ~ Glad you and your pups got to enjoy the snow! Your ukelele party sounds like so much fun!! You mentioned being headed to the Cape - is it Friday already?? again?? These days are just flying by for me! Yes, I am getting all my ducks in a row for my return to school. They haven't firmly put in place any plans yet for returning the kiddos to the classroom, so I may start with just me and the teacher. We'll see ....
Pam ~ I looked at your pictures this morning. Yikes!! Glad you are of a mind that that is what happens when you live in hurricane areas. Glad you weren't there to experience it. Great that your guy has already looked at it and can fix it easily.
I did go back out shopping at Ollie's yesterday and found a new work coat for DH. It is a different style than he has worn for years, but change is good, isn't it? This morning I was trying to find a box to fit it into but not having much success. It is canvas with sherpa lining and a sherpa lined hood. I hope he likes it. I called them this morning because I worried how long it was until Christmas and in case he doesn't like it or it doesn't fit, could he return it in TWO months?? The gal I talked to said it shouldn't be a problem, being Christmas and all, but she gave me her name and said to write on the receipt that I talked to her today -and I wrote "Christmas gift" on the top of it.
I have made my hair cut appointment for next Thursday and started one load of laundry and paid a couple of bills, so now I need to get dressed and head out for my walk.
BBL. Make a great day!!

LOL Sue...in honor of you DH and the FIRST SNOW we shall be dining on grilled cheese and tomato soup this evening A cup of hot chocolate will follow with marshmallows of course....breakfast was oatmeal with sf applesauce and a few walnuts and lunch is a bowl of my veggie bean soup and a salad with lo steak chopped up in it. It's still snowing here but no wind. It looks so pretty sticking to the trees I heard from a friend of mine from California that is up to her eyes and ears with the politics. I told her...do what I do...when I get a call if I don't recognize the number it goes unanswered. When I hear people yapping about politics I look, smile, put my hands over my hears and BOOK IT away from them as fast as my short legs will allow...and nope, I don't listen to the news. May the best person win is my motto! There IS no grey area in some things and politics is one of them. Just my take on it. That is smart thinking on your part to call ahead and see what the policy is for a return for Christmas this far out. Nice that the sales clerk gave you her name. So much good customer service these days that it erases the negative stuff. Enjoy your walk. I may go out...but not now. I already made my hummus and have the IP loaded with my soup ingredients to be plugged in tonight when we turn in for the night...the last load of laundry is drying. Later......

I'm back. I had a great walk, though it was colder than I thought and I didn't have on a warm enough coat. If I walk again I will definitely wear a different jacket.
I have had my lunch of veggie/bean soup and some cantaloupe. I finished up my load of laundry and they are folded and put away. I also brought up my chili pot and all the ingredients for my Turkey 3-Bean Chili which is simmering on the stove. I thawed out some left-over stuffed peppers for tonight's supper. Then I noticed that I had too many cooked chicken breasts in the fridge, so maybe we'll have something with chicken instead and save the stuffed peppers?? Oh my, so many decisions <LOL> Too much fun!!
I think I will delve back into my most recent book that I haven't picked up for a couple of days while Alexa plays Sirius XM Oldies Party for me.
I'll check in later ..........

We did take a walk but it was cut short. The snow was blowing too much in my face and wasn't enjoyable. Doesn't look windy out there to watch, but an entirely different story being 'out there'. I did put on a heavier jacket and was happy that I did.
Sue I know what you mean with too many good food choices around. Enjoy the Sirius XM Oldies Party...that's one of my favorites as well.

Hi again,
Ann, I have not stepped out except onto the deck today but I am loving the peaceful falling of snow. This morning a young beautiful red fox was diving around in our front yard in what DH calls the "Mouse highway." lol If we ever get a mouse in the basement, DH is sure that is their route. lol Evidently, he is like Daniel Boon because the fox agreed. He leapt in the air and dove a few times and came up thrilled with a mouse. He did the happy dance leaping around the yard and quickly trotted off with his prize. FYI - it seemed like a painless death for the mouse and much better than a trap.
I have the itchy leg syndrome again. I think i am getting it under control with hydrocortisone cream and a good Eucerin cream.
It's a fairly quiet work day and Fridays sometimes are. I am listening to show tunes on Alexa and right now I am reliving my childhood with Oliver Twist. My mom, my best friend and her mom saw the show when I was little. We were thrilled as that was a huge treat and we bought the album and used to dance around singing all the songs. They are still memorized! I love some of the musicals of days gone by.
Sue, I had never heard of Ollie's until I saw your note and then low and behold, an Ollie's flyer showed up with our paper. Must be the same Ollies! I don't think there is one of them around here but I know stores similar. It looks a little like our Ocean States Job Lots. Glad they are good about returns.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sounds wonderful! I think we'll have our leftover ground beef mac and cheese goulash. Easy.
Have a good afternoon and waving to Pam, too.
Ann, I, too, like to keep gadgets simple. That microwave sounded very complicated with a metal setting LOL I am looking for the best simple sealer! I think I found it. Easy to use, lightweight and hands free. LOL

LOL to the red fox doing the 'happy dance' with the mouse. I agree...it's much nicer when Mother Nature takes care of her own rather than the trap. One of our neighbors has several traps around and I'm always afraid that I am going to step in one or LuLa...yikes to that!!!!! Judy I too suffer from itchy skin. When I was going through radiation, the radiation oncologist suggested that I use Aquaphor for itching and dry skin. I've used that ever since with great results. Only drawback is that it is very heavy (Vaseline like) and it can stain. Also Benadryl has a gel that I also use along with the hydrocortisone. I alternate between the two LOL...and have been known to use all three! Not fond of itching I guess I've never heard of Ollie's except through Sue. I do love to browse around (or used to anyway) Ocean State Job Lots. I used to like Big Lots, but their quality went way down hill and prices are much higher. Go figure. I don't even bother to stop in there any longer. Just a waste of time, especially with the mask on LOL. I too love the musicals of days gone by. Kids today don't know what they missed out on....... We did take a hood walk and LuLa did her 'thing' after she plowed around in the snow LOL. I know that Carl will take her out again, but I am not going to accompany them. After I post, I plan on getting 'jammified' and just relaxing until we have supper...then I'd like to read a bit. Well, this is it from my end. Pam prayers for you continue with DH and your camp. Will see y'all in the a.m. Sweet dreams................

Good afternoon,
In spite of my recent spate of snacking, I eked out a maintain for the week. Now, time to buckle down again. I had yogurt, blueberries and cantaloupe for breakfast. For lunch, I pulled some turkey noodle soup from the freezer and pared it with a little guacamole and some cheese and crackers. My stomach hasn't felt quite right today and the soup sounded good. Dinner will be chicken stir fry with brown rice.
Debbie and I walked in the cool morning air. It was 50, a little warmer than yesterday, but the stiff wind made it seem much colder. By the time I got home, the HH nurse was here. She was excited at how much the wound has progressed this week and strongly cautioned DH to stay off his foot, because it's working.
DBIL called and reported he, DSIS, DNephew and his girlfriend are heading to the coast. They will stay at our camp and go to a friend's house for showers. No electricity at our camp means no water pump, so no water. We are happy they will stay there at night so we won't have to worry about looters for at least a couple of nights. With no electricity or security lights, the criminal element gets busy.
Ann - I forgot you asked about hurricane names. They use 21 (no Q,U,X,Y or Z) letters of the alphabet and if those get used up, they go to the Greek alphabet. There have been 27 named storms this year, so 6 of the Greek letters have been used. A name is retired if the storm is significant, like a Katrina, Andrew or Sandy. Eta is the next name on the list and will probably go to what is currently brewing in the Caribbean.
Judy - Your Halloween zoom party sounds like fun. I think the ukulele lessons have been a great diversion for you during this pandemic. I know what you mean about the peace of falling snow. Normal sounds are muted and just the whisper of the falling flakes is heard. The white blanket is beautiful and I can just imagine D & D happily jumping around in it.
Sue - I read an interesting story this morning about Sr. Ignatia Gavin called The Anonymous "Angel" of Alcoholics Anonymous. She worked with Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith in setting up the first hospital ward to treat alcoholics and began the practice of giving tokens to AA members. It was very interesting and something I had never heard.
