Good morning friends. Slept well and hope y'all did also. Sunny and cold here today. I plan on walking and keeping myself occupied in a healthier way than eating butterfingers
Today, being Sunday is 'pasta day' so my meals for today and tomorrow will be lighter to compensate.
Pam happy that you are not tempted by the Halloween candy. I found and got into the butterfingers. I had to have Carl hide them AGAIN...today I plan on not opening any drawer or cupboard that I don't normally use LOL. Out of sight, out of mind.
Those pancakes sound delish and happy you and DH enjoyed them. I have a steam mop, it's a Bissell that I picked up years ago at BBB with a coupon. It's still plugging away and does a pretty decent job. That's a good savings. Your dinner sounded good.
Will CBL...

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy November!! Man, oh, man ..... where did October go?? While we were eating breakfast this morning the sun was streaming in - then just as quickly it went away. Now it is snowing and blowing, but not sticking on the ground. We had an early morning rain shower so the walkways are wet and too warm to keep the snow on them either. Yuk! Sounds like a day to stay on the couch and read (which is what I plan to do this afternoon). DH has a Detroit Lions game on so I will sit with him and read.
I went to bed very early last night. DH took himself off about 8 and I watched a little TV after that but ended up going to bed at 8:30 myself (remember I had already changed my clocks). I slept until 6:30 this morning so I must have needed the extra rest. I woke earlier but the furnace hadn’t kicked on yet nor the coffee pot, so I rolled over and went back to sleep. I have since reset the start time on both the thermostat and the coffee maker. In the future they will come on at 6 instead of 6:30. I plan to get up earlier starting next week if I go back to school. The reason I say "if" is that our COVID numbers in Michigan continue to rise and I am curious what plans will be put in place to try to curb it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pushed back the start of our school.
After our wintery day today with snow flurries and steadily falling temperatures, we have a predicted warm-up in mid week with almost a week in the 60's. I hope that proves to be true as we could certainly use a nice stretch before settling in for the winter.
DH and I are off to lunch shortly then back home for the afternoon.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue so happy that you got a good night sleep. I went to bed later last night but woke up refreshed. It's all good. Our numbers in our community are on the rise. We continue to be cautious and that's all that we can do. If only all would do their part!!!!! Nuff said. I took a hood walk and happy to be home. It's not bad out there, and I will go again. I just wanted to hurry home to relax. I've downloaded a few freebie books and still plugging away at the one that I have. I keep hitting delay on the library books that have come available as I need to finish this one. It's either feast or famine LOL. My sausage is cooked and in the meat sauce for our supper. Kitchen smells like when I grew up Such a comfort. Enjoy your lunch out. Now I'm going to go over the Hannaford's flyer to see what's on sale and make my list (and check it twice) lol. Will CBL I also have no clue where October went....

Hi all,
I went for a nice walk with the dogs before the rain set in. Now I’m puttering around paying bills and relaxing. I watched a great movie earlier called The Upside. It was an inspirational and true story about a paralyzed man and his life assistant. Funny and great. I plan to pop our italian sausages into sauce now, Ann! We’re doing italian night too. We had salad and a cup of clam chowder for lunch. No more Halloween candy for me!! It was too much last night and I should have dumped the bowl in the kids’ bags!
Have a great Sunday all. Sue, I hope that you do stay home from working if numbers keep rising. I’m sure the schools will be very wary of opening under those circumstances. It’s just not worth it.
DS in NJ is disappointed that we are not coming for Thanksgiving. Their group is not big but just the same, it’s too risky to eat with everyone. We just are not comfortable. Instead, we made plans to go down between Thanksgiving and Christmas and celebrate Christmas early with them. The baby won’t know when Christmas is and they will be all decorated. It will just be the 4 of us and the baby. Much better.
Ann and Pam and Sue - have a good day!

Happy Sunday!
I enjoyed that extra hour of sleep this morning, even though I once again dreamed my alarm was going off. It was only 4:30 am, so I made a bathroom trip and then went back to sleep until 6:30.
By the time I got back from Mass, all h*ll had broken loose. DH had a severe drop in blood sugar and had broken out in a cold sweat, but was feeling better after eating something sweet. My sister had called to report my nephew checked in the camp attic and found one big gap along the center line of the roof and several smaller holes, as well. I attempted to call the carpenter to ask if he would put up a tarp asap in case of rain, but instead got a recording from AT&T saying my wireless account was suspended. DH got the same message when he tried to call. So we called AT&T and after being on hold for half an hour, learned they are having problems, our account is not suspended and we should turn off our phones and turn them back on. Tried it and called my sister and finally got through on the third try. She was getting my voicemail when she called. Meanwhile, Debbie sends a text to see if I'm ready for our walk. I was unable to reach the carpenter by phone, but sent a text message and also asked the lawn guy, who is friends with him, to let him know we are trying to get in touch. About this time, I noticed both cats had just come in through the back door, which I had left open to let some fresh air in, and were jumping around crazily. Turns out they were playing with a live mouse, which ran under my lazy boy. I grabbed a broom and started moving furniture and it ran out. I was able to trap it with the broom, drag it across the floor and toss it out the back door. Finally, I was able to meet with Debbie and walk off some of the stress.
I am concerned because the carpenter has still not returned my text or called. That doesn't bode well, because he has always been very responsive. I'm afraid he is trying to get up the courage to tell me he can't do it. Also, we have not heard back from the windstorm insurance, so DH will try again tomorrow to talk with a live person. There's lots of damage in the area and a second home will be low on everyone's priority list, except mine.
After the stressful morning, I have not been inclined to do anything other than play on the computer. At 4:00 pm I will go to the blessing of the graves at the cemetery where my parents are buried. Nothing else on the agenda, thank goodness!
Brunch this morning was an English muffin with ham and cheese and a honey crisp apple. Dinner will be bbq chicken drumsticks, potato salad, smothered okra and one other veggie to be determined later.
Ann - Comfort food is good on so many levels. We enjoy the food and we also enjoy the memories associated with it. The smell of fresh baked bread puts me back in my maternal grandma's kitchen. I'll bet your pasta is to die for!
Sue - It warms my heart that DGS is reaching out on a regular basis! I have the feeling this is the beginning of a very special relationship that will be ongoing. I also agree that sometimes close friends make a better family than the real ones. Having the same character, values and interests forges a closer relationship than blood ties sometimes.
Judy - I am sure the DGKs were as cute as buttons in their costumes. Halloween is such a special "pretend" time for little ones. Abby was to be a Victorian lady, but I haven't seen pics yet. Madison was a bee-themed LOL doll and Leah was Baby Shark. There were lots of creative costumes among the trick-or-treaters last evening.
Enjoy your day of rest!

Judy it sure feels like it wants to rain here...dreary damp and raw. I took two walks today and I'm one and done until tomorrow. It's already getting dark out there. I tried to read twice and both times 'woke up' with the kindle dark LOL. I kept dozing even though I got that extra hour. I think it was from the butterfinger fun size bars that I popped yesterday. Carl DID hide them once again and this time I won't go hunting Lesson learned once again the hard way. Happy that you got your walks in enjoyed your movie and are going to 'settle down' for a good Italian meal Enjoy.
I also feel that you and DH made the right choice. You will have a better time with a smaller group for sure. Pam OMG what a nightmare of a day! Consider yourself hugged big time. I pray that the rest of your day is VERY uneventful. Hopefully the carpenter returns your call. Perhaps he is also having phone issues. Yikes to the mouse in the house. I would have leaped on top of a table LOL. You are a brave soul. I freak when I see anything flying around in the house let alone a mouse! I need to replenish my honey crisp apples when I shop either tomorrow or Tuesday. I have my list all made out and ready to go. Well, I am now going to get 'jammified' and relax a bit before our Italian feast. I so love all the comfort foods...it just brings me back to a happy time. Sweet dreams all......

Hi All ~ We had a great lunch out today, and both enjoyed the food and each other's company very much.
Since we got home DH has watched football and I have read. I was reading a book called "September Sky" which a time-traveler novel about the devastating hurricane that destroyed Galveston, TX in 1900. It had a good story and a very complete ending! Some of the books I get from BookBub just kind of drop the reader off at the end, but not this one. In fact, the ending was a whole 'nother story which was good.
Ann ~ I love pasta too! Yours sounds good and I am sure you will enjoy it! I also have to go through my Meijer shopping paper that came today and make up my list for this week. Thanks for the reminder.
Judy ~ I think your plans to celebrate in between Thanksgiving and Christmas sounds perfect! You are so right that the baby won't know (or care). I would think more people would do that this year??
Pam ~ I am so sorry for your undue stress! Calling people and not hearing back is one of my least favorite things too. Hopefully it will all work out??Oh, BTW, I met DGS the year DH and I got married when we went to Florida and visited for a couple of weeks (he was 3). We subsequently went down the next few years and I used to send him "care packages" so often that his mom joked that he routinely watched for the UPS man. So we had a relationship at one time .... and he seems to be falling right back into it.
I also spent some time texting yesterday with a very good friend (who is the age my son would have been) who is career-military and currently deployed in Kosovo. He has a terrific sense of humor and so much fun! I enjoyed my "visit" with him as well.
While we were eating lunch it snowed big huge flakes but still didn't stick to the ground. I entertained the thought of walking today but I already have my loungewear on and it is grey, cloudy and windy not to mention uncomfortably chilly outside. SO I think I will skip it today and plan to do two tomorrow.
Time to go catch up on my tablet. I have already chosen my next book so I'm ready.

Pam, what a day you’ve had! I hope you’ve heard from the carpenter by now. I’m glad that your DH’s sugar levels are back to normal and what a funny story with the cat and mouse game! Do you want me to send the fox down? At least he eats the mice as opposed to kitty cats would just like to play around with them. :-) I will send you all an email of my grandchildren‘s Halloween costumes for fun.
I cooked Italian sausage, spaghetti and meat sauce in the instant pot for dinner. This time I set the time for just seven minutes even though it said nine minutes because I did not want mushy pasta again. It came out great and DH has enough for his lunch tomorrow. With the time change were already finished with dinner and it’s only 515. I like that! One and done!
It is still raining here quite a bit and all the snow is gone. Must be the remnants of the hurricane.
Sue, I am really glad you’re in touch with your grandson. That must be such a nice feeling.
Ann, I’m back to my book for the evening. What are you reading now?

OMG Judy....those pictures are too cute for words...thanks for sharing Is that your DD or DDIL? What a beautiful girl. LOL to the picture of the French Bulldog. Looks exactly like Luigi when he was a puppy...... I am reading Grant Of Immunity by Garret Holms...it's a legal thriller about a cop (abuse of power) and at times it's quite dark. The author is a judge and criminal trial expert.....I'm plugging my way through. Glad that you found the right time to cook your pasta. I normally do ours between 6-7 minutes and for that same reason! I guess it all depends on how you like it. I'm not into the mushy stuff LOL.......

Hi Ann,
That is our DD in CA in those pictures. She'd be happy to hear your nice compliment. She's had a tough time but she manages to have a lot of fun. She is a very fun person!
I'll send a pic of my daughter in law who I think is a beautiful Italian girl! :-)
