Good morning friends. Today will be shopping day unless something 'drastic' happens It's sunny out there and no wind so walking will be good.
Pam good idea as that will keep things nice and dry at the camp. Easy dinner is always a plus. Hope the insurance adjuster gets to you soon.

Hey all,
I woke up early today but had a pretty good night's sleep as I went to bed by 10:30. Glad I did because DH was up at 6 AM and would never have woken me up to tell me he had a shard of glass (small but very jagged) stuck in the ball of his foot. We aren't sure where he picked it up but he thinks in the basement, something must have been broken ages ago and this little shard was missed in cleanup. Anyhow, good thing I was able to dig it out. It was excruciating for him and could have caused an infection from the looks of it. Never a dull moment!!
I watched some election returns but shut it off. I just can't handle the stress of it all. I said a few prayers and went to bed. It's all over but the shoutin' as they say so nothing more to be done on all our parts. Streaming news only makes it worse. For me, TV - if any - will be Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith! lol
Sorry about your phone, Ann. It must be the time for faulty phones between you and Sue and now my boss wrote me last night that his relatively new iPhone keeps shutting off and won't hold a charge. I've ordered him a new one already. Nice when you know you aren't paying for one. He'll get it by tomorrow.
I want to take a nice pocket watch to the watchmaker today to get a new crystal for the face. DH dropped it about two weeks ago. Then I have a therapy appt at noon today. We also received troubling news that our beloved "new" primary care doc is leaving the practice. We had one for years who we loved and just switched to this one a couple years ago and loved him, too. C'est la vie, but it's tough when you are getting older and have meds and continual care you need.
I meant to ask any of you if you take Statins for cholesterol and if so, do they cause any muscle pain? DH is convinced that his issues with hips and walking are related to the Simvastatin. He really needs to take it or something like it, but thought I would ask my trio of experts. :-)
TTFN...have a good day all.

Judy so sorry to hear about your PCP leaving. It's hard to find a good one. We switched over from our beloved PCP in Worcester as it was just too long of a drive to see him. He sent all our records to our new PCP and so far, so good with her. I am SO lost without my phone. Carl is good about sharing his...but all my info in in mine plus his is set up differently. I did download my games so all set there LOL. Still on the fence about going to Hannaford's. Time will tell if that will happen. I have no clue on the meds for DH, Judy. Never took anything for that and neither has Carl. I would reach out to the pharmacist for that answer. They are more knowledgeable than the PCP's Yes that is great that the phone will come tomorrow. Free is always a good word LOL. Time to get a move on.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~ Happy Hump Day!! I slept great last night and woke quite early this morning. I had some straightening and cleaning that I wanted to do before the carpet cleaner came this afternoon. I guess that sounds kind of like cleaning before the cleaning lady comes, but things that I moved will enable him to do a better job. While I did that I also watched the morning news. If and when it starts to make me nervous, I will turn it off, but in the meantime I was enjoying it. DH and I were also following a couple of local elections that we were interested in. Ann ~ I am so sorry that your phone will be MIA for so long, but hopefully that estimate is greater than the actual and it will be back in just a few days. For years when I get a new phone, I keep the previous one and have it for back up. It came in handy one year when DH destroyed his phone two months before he was eligible for a new one (at a reasonable price) and I told him if he didn't mind pink, I had my previous iPhone handy. We went to the Verizon store that evening and they activated it for him. He said all he wanted was to be able to make and receive phone calls, so he was all set. Judy ~ I have heard some of the same stuff about the age of phones, but always from someone who wants to sell me a new phone, so I tend to take it with a grain of salt. I remember when for years Verizon was a "new every two" company and we routinely replaced our phones every other Fall. But now that we buy our phones, it is a little bit different. Since mine is in perfect condition (except for the slightly degraded battery) I think I will keep it a while longer. Your boss is very lucky, but then I would do the same thing if it was a "work" situation (meaning someone else is paying for it). Pam ~ Good for you for taking an "easy" day yesterday. Sometimes we just need to do that and be good to ourselves. I totally agree with your about "damned if you do, damned if you don't". But we'll muddle along as best as we can. I am still holding out to see if I want to change carriers down the road which will necessitate buying two of their phones anyway. So "new phones" for us are on hold, as are so many things with this pandemic. Someday ..... I sent an email to our HR Department at school yesterday about my email and payroll accounts. She wrote back that since my return to work date is Nov. 9th, they would be reactivated that day. Then I tried them both this morning and they are both working. Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing?? Nonetheless I got what I wanted out of the deal. So I have done all that I planned to do before the carpet cleaner comes. He told me between 12 and 2, and he would call me beforehand. I am glad I started a new book yesterday that really intrigues me. I have had my yogurt 'n berries w/F1 for breakfast, then a HB egg for a morning snack. Afterward I went for a long walk. The sun is shining and it is in the upper 50's. Don't know if I'll get another one this afternoon or not - but I got out for two yesterday! BBL. Make a great day!

Sue I too am hoping for an earlier date to get my phone back. In the meantime I can use Carl's (for my games) lol.
I took one hood walk so far and may go out later on. Decided once again to push off Hannaford's. Just not in the 'mind set' to go out.
My sectional and kindle look way to inviting.
Time for a coffee.....

Hey all,
I am back from the watchmaker/jewelers. He is fixing the pretty gold pocket watch and two very nice diamond/gold watches that belonged to my grandmother. It's a little spendy to fix them, but worth it as they are nice heirlooms. Ann, I thought of you as I drove down Pleasant Street to Tatnuck Jewelers which is also right near Bushel n Peck sandwich shop. I stopped in there afterwards and picked up some chili and some Polish golumpkis for DH. Their sandwiches are always so great there, too.
Our weather is about to turn nice again. It's sunny and warmer today. I might get out for another walk.
Back to work! Have a good day all.

Sue, I agree with you on keeping those phones as long as possible. I never trade mine in until it stops working. I believe the people telling me to turn down "upgrades" on my older phones were trying to save me from being forced to purchase a new phone. That happened to me twice with otherwise perfectly working phones. So exasperating! My iPhone now is several years old and so I have avoided upgrades now. Experience has shown me that is they cause of them shutting down and not restarting. Our IT guy at the university told me the same thing. But, I probably keep my phones longer than most people. :-)
I gave D&D a treat of some leftover pork last night. That was a mistake. Guess we have to stick strictly to their special dog food. Who'd think plain pork would make Daisy ill? She has such a touchy tummy. Live and learn!
Pam, I hope your DH's foot continues to improve and that the latest small wound the provider saw is getting better. I also think that little Abby has a great life with you. She is so lucky and so are all your DGKs. I understand the dilemma your MI DD is having about Covid. My DIL in NJ is much like that and has had issues with immediate family over their more casual approach. I believe everyone has to do what they are comfortable doing and respect others' choices. What else can we do?
Off to relax a bit. Hi to Ann and hope you are in your easy chair today, too!

oh ann, I forgot to mention that I received my new vacuum sealing machine the other day. Wow, what a difference in packaging stuff for the freezer. I had fun practicing on hot dogs, lamb chops, ground beef...lol

Oh my! My carpets were all cleaned and it looks so nice in here! My guy was very excited because he has all brand new equipment and said it had "really been kicking butt". It certainly did a fabulous job on my floors and I am extremely happy!! I was way overdue, and he spent a little bit of extra time, but it was certainly worth it.
Now I am deciding whether I'll go for another walk, or sit down with my Kindle. It is 70 outside, which means I have all the windows open and all the ceiling fans on (for the carpets) but I'm a bit tired. I already walked this morning, so perhaps I'll read a bit now. I got all my throw rugs washed and dried and ready to put back down tomorrow.
Judy ~ So glad you woke up early this morning to remove that shard of glass. A few months ago I dropped (and broke) a jar of pasta sauce in the basement and though I cleaned it up as thoroughly as I could, I cautioned DH not to walk down there barefoot. Of course, he did, but we were lucky and nothing bad ever happened. But that was my fear; and so sorry it was realized at your house.
Later ......

Hello friends!
I skipped my walk this morning and slept in, since we had to go into town by 9:30 anyway for DH's CVT doctor appointment and a grocery pickup. We also dropped off Abby's mask at DD's office and a house insurance payment at our insurance broker's office. Since the doctor didn't put the wound vac back on, we had to hurry home, get groceries put away and get ready for the HH nurse, who came to put the wound vac back on.
DH's main wound continues to improve, however slowly. The secondary problem, a small blister is now a small wound and seems to concern me more than either the doctor or HH nurse. He also now has a red, bruised-looking spot on the instep. The HH nurse thinks these secondary problems are being caused by the Darko shoe and DH walking too much. He is now to keep the Darko shoe off unless he is walking and he told her he will walk less than he has been. He sees the surgeon and the infectious disease doctor next week.
In between all this, we have been texting with Mike the yard guy, Jeff (our carpenter who FINALLY responded--lost his phone and got a new one) and another contractor, trying to get estimates for repairs and roof. The insurance company called to say our adjuster will be calling to set up an appointment, which will be tricky with HH visits M-W-F and doctors appt. on TH and us living 3 hours drive away.
It's lovely outside and not too hot (73) so I may check and see if Debbie is interested in a late afternoon walk. There are lots of household and garden chores that need doing, but I don't know if I have enough "oomph" left after all the morning activities.
Sue - I know you're glad to have the carpets done. I had to laugh at your work email "magically" being fixed.
Judy - Now you can add "surgeon" to your list of credentials, lol. It's good you could remove the sliver before it caused a big problem. Muscle and joint pain is a common side effect of statins, so he should probably discuss with his doctor/pharmacist.
Ann - It's sweet of Carl to share his cellphone with you. I usually play games on my iPad as the screen is bigger.
Feeling the need for a snack, so I'm off to check out what fruits we have.

Judy yes their sandwiches there are delish. Enjoy I do miss that area but not the congestion and having to spend a half hour to 'cross the city' to get anyplace LOL...... Yes it is a gorgeous day out there. Went for two pretty decent walks and happy to be home again. I won't bother to go out again today...tomorrow is another day. One that MAY have us see Hannaford's LOL.....I guess I really don't need a thing Glad that you got the watches fixed. They do beautiful work. Sue so happy that you are pleased with your carpets. I just LOVE the smell of them then they are all nice and spotless and clean. Pam sounds like you had a busy day with DH's appointment grocery pickup and all. I don't blame you for skipping the walk. There's always tomorrow Yes Carl is good to let me use his phone. I miss not being able to check into the cafe, though...it's a real PITA to keep coming into the computer room and booting up the desktop. Oh well....I won't know how to act once I get my phone back. Time to call it quits. Going to read a bit before supper. See y'all in the a.m. Sweet dreams!
