This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ********************************** Official state certification of election results happen late November, early December
This has not changed for this election but there has never been such chaos since the hanging chad incident of 2000, so I really did not pay attention to the whole process. It is much more drawn out than I remembered even under normal circumstances. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

Karen, my avatar is a table of gourds. Enjoy Osteo. Love the eagle picture.
Becky, I hope doctor comes up with a speedy solution for the knees.
Linda, I have not watched any of the TV coverage. I am just keeping up online. My nerves can’t take it.
Kathy, Ohio started processing mail in ballots as they came in but did not count until Election Day. It must have been just a matter of hitting a TOTAL button since we got tally fairly quickly. Nice new avatar.
Liz, how was the B12 shot? I must have missed something, What is the B12 for?
Denise, are you off this weekend? We are supposed to get temps in the 70s. As a matter of fact, we reached 70 yesterday.
We went for a drive yesterday since it was so nice out. The Egyptian walking onions that we planted the third week of October have begun sprouting already since we have been so warm. The one freeze we had has not killed off the ragweed. It is still at moderate levels. I have been suffering from it for a few weeks with a variety of symptoms. I can’t wait for winter and for this election to be settled.

Chele, thanks for the start. Florida did the same thing with the count being released on Election Day. The local news always mentions when the FL votes are finally certified, but we usually know the winner way before that. Then we assume the winner gets confirmed by the electoral college. That process always makes me a bit nervous. Nice gourds! My avatar is a pic DS sent me from her trip. There are a few maple trees that turn later in the year here, but that's about it. Hope the allergies let up soon.
Waving to everyone.

Greetings Chicks; stopping in for a quick hello. Chele - nice that you were able to get out for a drive yesterday. We've had 2 exceptionally warm days for Nov. and I believe the weather guessers are calling for more between now and the weekend. Sorry that the ragweed is making things tough; I empathize as I haven't stopped taking allergy medicine myself for the same reason. Even the pups are both miserable with ragweed allergies. Since I had no idea what Egyptian Walking Onions were; I Googled them and learned something new. Will you use them raw or cook them? The B12 shots are because after my last visit to the Primary, my blood work came back with severely low B12 and severely low Vitamin D. I will do the shots for 2 more weeks after this one and then take oral on a daily basis. I can't wait for this elongated election to be done; it's also exhausting! Kathy - how are things looking with Eleta? Hoping you will not have any dangerous repercussions from it. Yesterday morning we hit freezing and today we were hovering in the upper 60s in the city. Mother Nature is laughing her tushy off at us somewhere! Glad DM and the family as well as you are all doing well. Lovely avatar picture from your sis. Linda - hopefully after this evening they MIGHT have an answer to the election and Bob will unglue from the TV. I am going to take a crack at the Paprika Soup once the weather becomes chilly again so thank you for the recipe. Have the shots starting giving you relief with your knees? Becky - how are you handling the knee pain? I'm so sorry you have to go through that; I will echo Chele with hoping the doctor comes up with some sort of resolution for you. Denise - hope work is going well for you this week. We are pretty busy here and as I have stated previously, the CV-19 numbers are creeping up. Not anything like the rest of the country thank heavens! Karen - how was Osteo today? How have you been feeling? Zoe continues to wake me every night between 12:30am and 1:30am to go out. If Wally hears us; I'm doomed and have 2 pups to walk. Of course that time of night, Wally wants to hunt! DOH extended until Friday which was not good news, hoping they will be done and gone tomorrow. Now we wait for Joint Commission (Feds) for our triennial survey which could come as early as next week (sigh). The subway was miserable this morning (very crowded) and last night when I left later than I wanted some idiot was spread sitting with no mask on whatsoever! I'm off to do some paperwork for the budget folks once again. Everyone please take care and be safe! Ciao for now~

Chele Thanks for the start.I understand they have longer to certify the votes but they could count the ballots in a more timely manner. If FL and TX could do it on election night so could some of these other states that are holdouts.Oh well I've decided not my circus, not my monkeys and we certainly had 2 monkeys running for president this time. Thanks for the good wishes on the knees.Nice you and Iggy could go for a drive yesterday.
Liz I hope you are doing well.Once my B12 levels were down and my PCP just told me to use the drops so it must have not been extremely low.Not handling the pain very well since the left one has started to hurt also.I have had to ice every day that I get a walk in.Thanks for the good wishes. If he can't do anything I may have to resort to getting a 2nd opinion or wait until January when my insurance changes to United Healthcare and see what kind of specialists they have and get a 2nd opinion then.
Waves to everyone.Have a good Friday.

Liz, glad you could stop by! That's warm weather for you for this time of year. The latest I heard was that Eta was going to get close to South Florida, but then possibly loop back away from Florida. It's a crazy path, that's for sure! I'll have to see what they say tonight, but we'll probably get some rain from it. We have a high pressure area over us right now and that usually keeps the storms away. Oh gosh, I can just picture Wally hunting in the middle of the night. My sympathies on the survey and hope it goes well. That does not sound like fun. Neither does that subway ride. Stay safe out there!
Becky, lol on two monkeys. I think one of them is more of an orangutan. A second opinion might be a good idea on the knees. Hope you can get some relief from the pain soon. You've been dealing with it for a long time.
Karen, how was Osteo today?

Thanks for the start, Chele. That's a lot of gourds! Usually the visible process surrounding the vote isn't as drawn out as it is this year. Other than the hanging chads that you mentioned. And all the social media attention isn't helping. I don't think I have ever been as anxious about a presidential election as I have this year. Usually I'm pretty even keeled and figure whoever gets elected, while they may have different views than mine, has the best interests of the country at heart. I don't know how I can function through 4 more years of a narcisistic autocrat determined to shatter the norms that have allowed our democracy to thrive for almost 2 and a half centuries. The election can't be settled soon enough for me. Keeping up with the coverage online is a smart move, as the commentators are just saying the same things ad nauseum. Congrats on your temp yesterday. We didn't get out of the 50s here. Glad you enjoyed your drive. Those onions are extremely prolific. Sorry the ragweed remains. Osteo went fine.
Linda, Fox News is technically opinion and not news, but most people who watch it ignore that. And that's part of the problem. I heard about the folks in Detroit chanting "stop the counting" and the ones in other places like yours chanting "count the votes". How is Bob doing?
Have you seen the track on Eta, Kathy? LA/MS could get hit again! I don't know how warm the Gulf waters currently are, but I'll bet they haven't cooled much yet. I wondered if your avatar was from DS's trip. That would be a very common site where they were. TN had everything counted and reported same day as well. I think they count as they go, so we knew everything by mid evening.
Becky, good luck at the ortho tomorrow. I agree that we need to get candidates that are more representative of what our country wants. There have been some good articles in the Washington Post and The Atlantic about how things need to change to even attempt to bring the country together which, as you indicated, is going to be difficult if not impossible.
I hope you were far away from the ruckus at the election HQ yesterday, Denise, where the Trump supporters tried to storm their way into where votes were being counted. How are covid cases at your hospital?
Liz, I hope things are quiet there, unlike where Linda and Denise are. I hope the extension of the DOH visit is just because they love you all so much. Does the Joint Commission just show up with no notice? I can't imagine having to deal with the crowds on the subway, much less those who are being totally inconsiderate. Sorry you're having to take pups out about every night. It was bad enough when I was having to do that being retired. It would be awful to have to do it and then get up a few hours later to head for work. Amen on getting the election over with. I just saw a press conference with the PA sec. of state and she said they have to accept military and oveseas ballots through Tuesday. I hope it won't drag on for that long. If Gary wants some Egyptian Walking Onions for your garden, let me know and I can send you some starts. I harvested about 3 lbs and have several dozen starts put aside that I won't use but about half a dozen to replant. They are good to use as "spring onions" but better the second year to harvest the bulbs
We have almost 2K new cases of covid since yesterday and nearly 11% positivity rate. Cases in every county in our area are way above their 7-day rolling average, so we're not in a good place. What ever happened to "you won't hear anything about the virus after election day"? Osteo went ok, but I started having shoulder tightness of unknown origin on the way there, so I took it a little easy and have been using the TENS unit since I got home. I stopped at Dollar Tree on the way home to get items I wanted to fill 4 shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse's annual Operation Christmas Child program. One of my MG friends is in charge of the local effort, so I do it to support her.

Karen, did you watch the speech Trump just gave? He seriously thinks every state still counting votes is trying to cheat him out of the election? I've never seen anything like this from a president. The votes need to be counted and it is different this year with more mail in ballots. He's been laying the groundwork all along to say the mail in ballots are fraudulent, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Oh, except for Florida where mail ins are perfectly fine since a lot of Republicans use them.
I saw a map showing the tracks of all the storms this year and the paths go to the left and right of the FL peninsula with most of them going into the Gulf. We've been really fortunate with the exception of the Panhandle. We've had a lot of high pressure ridges over us or near us that have kept the storms away. Earlier this afternoon they were showing Eta starting to curve back into the Gulf. That has to be the strangest path of the year. Unbelievable that LA/MS could get hit again.

Linda, that sounds scary there. Harassing the people counting the votes sure isn't going to make it go any faster.

Kathy, I heard Trump was going to give a news conference some time but didn't know when. Sorry I missed it (uh, not!). We tuned out of the news for the evening. Not surprised he thinks everyone is trying to cheat him. He's always the victim. I'm guessing there was a lot of fact checking necessary after the speech. Yes, he implicitly trusts the mail-in ballot system in FL because he uses it. I guess he thinks nobody else can do it right but FL. Where did you see the map with the storm tracks? I would like to check that out.
That chaos sounds scary, Linda. I hope you can stay far, far away from it. The NY folks will appreciate the Sees. I hope you can get it out of the SW before it melts. So, rubbing alcohol is in short supply again? Unfortunate! Glad I stocked up when Walgreens had it available about 3 months ago.

Becky, the tax increase will be effective in 2021 and was passed by the Trump administration. Hopefully Biden will be able to stop it from happening: www.nytimes.com/2020/10/31/opinion/republicans-biden-taxes.html. Regarding socialism, remember that Social Security and Medicare are essentially "socialist" programs. I think having Republicans esssentially in charge of the Senate will keep Biden from moving too far to the left.

I hope you are right Karen.I think it's Harris who is the one that's really far left.I believe Biden will end up winning but I don't have to like it.IMO he is more socialist than Social Security was even meant to be.SS is not an entitlement. We all paid into it so I don't believe it's really a socialist program.I don't think Trump deserves it but I don't like Biden either but I don't have a choice in the matter and I just get tired of hearing and talking about it.I am not going to lose sleep over it though.
On a funny note Kenneth told me it's information overload and I told him to stop changing the TV to the news channel then.LOL.
EDIT: I just read the article and for not being a politician Trump sure lies like one.Don't know who to believe anymore.
