National Nachos Day. Here is a vegetarian nachos recipe. Tostitos has a baked chip that is good or you can buy tostadas and break them up or get tortillas, cut them in triangles and bake them. Southwestern vegetarian nachos

moonriver, Denise, I made the nachos today and they are good. We are very warm for this time of year. We are supposed to be mid 70s this weekend. Liz, it was good to hear from you. I hope the B12 and Vitamin D do the trick. I guess a Beagle’s gotta do what a Beagle’s gotta do. Poor you. I am sorry you are having to get up every night. I remember what that was like with one small dog. I hope the DOH has not been too much of a pain today. Enjoy your weekend. Kathy, you have had a lucky hurricane season in your area. I wonder where the bears go when there is a hurricane? Becky, I have declared a moratorium on political talk at home. When either one of starts on a rant, we stop each other. We don’t need the stress. How did the ortho visit go? Linda, how does Micki look after tne groomer visit? Cute Advent calendars. I saw one at Meijer for humans with-a small bottle of wine per day. I was tempted but I don’t drink very often and I didn’t want to start a bad habit. Karen, how’s the shoulder today? Our COVID-19 hospitalizations are up in the area and more staff and doctors are testing positive. Iggy and I went to the YS orchard and got some more apples: Gold Rush, Melrose, McIntosh, SunCrisp, Mutsu and Empire. We have never tried a Mutsu or Suncrisp before. We drove to the Springfield farm market and it was closed and had for sale signs, so we drove home. It is a nice day so we enjoyed the drive. I hope you all have a good day.

Becky, I heard a great discussion on an a.m. news show about how the presidential election is clearly a repudiation of Trump's handling of the coronavirus, but the expected gains in Congress that didn't materialize are a rejection of the Democratic party and the need to reinvent the party going forward or they will be overtaken. There was mention of Republican Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland being a presidential candidate in 2024. I think I could vote for him. The benefit to me being an independent (or as TN calls us, "unaffiliated") is that I don't align with the views of either major party. Right now I seem to lean toward the views of Republican Voters Against Trump and The Lincoln Project. Did Kenneth stop changing the channel? This is making a lot of us anxious and I wish they would just get it over with. I understand the need to carefully count every ballot, but I think some states should have been better prepared. I have thought the same thing about Trump not being a politician, but it sure didn't take him long to start acting like one. You're right about not knowing who to believe. I feel the exact same way. How was the ortho?
I have seen those pet advent calendars, Linda. Good marketing idea, but I'm not sure Arya would understand, especially at the end when she is used to getting a treat every day and then suddenly the treats stop. Will you get one for Micki? Cute meme. Yes, it could be election day for several more days as well. I've probably only seen Ground Hog Day about a hundred times (not an exaggeration). I hope Micki enjoys his spa treatment. Good idea to mail early. I need to get stuff bought and sent, but it's not much more than gift cards. It's just a matter of finding the ones I want. I don't think I'll be standing in line at Bass Pro Shops this year.
Kathy, Eta sure is on a strange path. Do you think you'll get some rain next week? If it follows the anticipated path, we could get more rain. Is your weather still comfortable? What's your football schedule for the weekend? TX plays WV at Noon and TN and Clemson both play at 7:30. Hopefully Clemson will get other injured players back, even if the QB is still in quarantine. That could be the game of the year.
Yum on the nachos, Chele. When we get takeout from Salsarita's, we also get an order of nachos and it takes us 2 or 3 days to finish them off. They are just regular chips, but they are their homemade ones. The TENS unit seemed to work out of the shoulder what ever had happened and it feels pretty good today. That's not good about your first line medical responders there having so many positive cases. I talked to a friend today who grew up in Australia and her family still lives there. They have restricted travel between states and it seems to be making a difference. They have had some days with zero new cases for the entire country. We both lamented about how many out of state cars we see on the highways here and what a major factor that probably is on our cases continuing to increase. How are your new apples? I liked the Mutsu I've had. Is the SunCrisp similar to a Honey Crisp? Sorry you appear to be losing the farm market. I know you enjoy getting to do leisurely weekday drives and not trying to fit it all into the weekend, along with the other working people. There were definite benefits to us before Dale decidd to go back to work.
Denise, enjoy that unseasonably warm weather. Do you have the weekend off? Are you still getting a lot of OT?
I hope your DOH visit is over, Liz. Have a restful weekend. How are the pups doing? I hope you have good weather like we do.
I had a MG Zoom meeting with the new director and the other 2 people who helped pull the MG intern class together last year. It lasted almost 2 hours but I think we have a plan now. We are going to be doing a hybrid class, using online sessions from some of the outstanding plant, soil, and pest experts in the state and supplementing it with local workshops. Hopefully it will work well. The new director has lots of ideas, so it will be a fun year after we can get things back together. Other than my workout, that has pretty much been my day. I was a bit sore but that has mostly worn off. I'm just a bit tired now, which is normal for a Friday. We still don't have enough internet to stream, so I don't know what I might get into this afternoon. We have sunny skies and temps in the 60s. We'll be with Chele and Denise in the 70s over the weekend.

Karen, thanks for the start. I think I saw the map with the hurricane paths in a tweet from one of our local weather guessers, but here is a link to the same kind of map. Scroll down past the video. I think the bears hunker down in the forest, but that has to be a scary experience. There aren't any caves around here that I know of, so I don't know where else they would go. I've wondered that about all of the wildlife. The PA governor wanted to allow them to count the mail in votes early, but their Republican led state legislature wouldn't approve it. So, here we all are. I'm so over the squabbling between parties. Can you vote in the primaries as an independent? We can't, so you have to choose a party affiliation or not vote for the main parties in the primaries.
We had an amendment on the ballot to change to open primaries, but it didn't pass. I had mixed feelings on it since you could wind up with two people from the same party if they got the most votes in the primary. McConnell has already said he's going to torpedo Biden's cabinet appointees. He could at least let him get in office first, assuming he wins. I guess Biden would have to go the same route as Trump and appoint them to "acting" positions which doesn't require Senate approval. They're also saying that Trump is going to drag this out as long as he can. I guess not a surprise, but disappointing. Chele, looks like a good recipe. The baked Tostitos Scoops chips have been a hard to find item here for some reason. They've just recently come back in stock, so I do have a bag on hand. Linda, I remember that movie. That is definitely what it feels like right now. I wish they could get enough votes in to at least call the states. With them being so close, I'm sure there will be recounts and other delays on certifying them. Liz, you're almost to the weekend! Wishing you a good commute home.
Becky, hope the ortho appointment went well.

Thanks for the link, Kathy. Looks like streamers. We can vote in the primary by choosing which party's ballot we want. An open primary could be kind of messy. McConnell and Biden had a good working relationship when they were in the Senate, so I hope Mitch doesn't decide to be an idiot and will work with the new government. Without Trump in the executive branch to protect him, maybe the Senate Republicans will step up and force him to do his job and just not be "the grim reaper". If it ends up being a 50/50 split in the Senate, the VP is the tie breaker, so that could have an effect as well. I think the "acting" people are supposed to only be in that position for a limited time and then have to be replaced or approved through the Senate. Unfortunately, that is another thing that Trump has ignored. Tropical storms have to be scary for all wildlife and I'm sure some of them succumb from the inclement conditions.

Karen, I agree the open primary could be messy. I prefer TN's method and I would change to an independent if we had that option. Yes, the "acting" positions are supposed to be temporary. A 50/50 Senate would be interesting since that would mean McConnell wasn't in charge.

Karen Thanks for the start.
I have read the posts but it's been a long day with going to Round Rock and buying groceries plus icing my knee.I got a cortisone shot in my left knee and nothing new on the right knee.It still looks good on x-ray.It takes some people longer than others, etc. He did suggest getting Voltaren and Moderna for scars.I bought the Voltaren today but didn't want to add in the Moderna in with the groceries.May look for it tomorrow.
Chele I agree with a moratorium on election talk.I haven't seen any of those apples around here.
