Hello Susanne!
Thanks for keeping us alive! I am ready and waiting for the season, almost nervously. I feel like I'm waiting for a bomb to drop, haha! I have already done several designs, which is really early compared to past years, so that is good. I have a client with a small mid-century modern home. Very unassuming with few windows in front, but once you're in, the main living area is mostly windows from floor to ceiling. I did a really nice minimalistic modern design for them, and they loved it. It was very different from my usual , and so fun. Most of my clients want the same thing the neighbor has, and fairly formal styles in very small yards. That is getting really old!
Carol, I don't think you should feel obligated in any way to host house-guests. That is way beyond the comfort zone of most people. Heck, most people don't even entertain people for a meal, much less a few days. Maybe you could be of help by offering suggestions on nearby hotels, and help with the event planning since you live in the area. I hope your friend gets through her kidney stone surgery without any problems, yikes!

Alas, the sun is shining this morning. And what a welcome relief that is. I'm tempted to go take a walk and clear the cobwebs from my mind. I should , at least, step outside, and wander thru the yard.
Lisa, the new design sounds like it was fun for you. Something different from the "traditional" is always fun, giving you a chance to create something different and play with different plants. I'm excited for the new season. I sure hope all the trees, shrubs, and perennials in the "meadow/butterfly sanctuary" that I worked on last year, come back and flourish. I need to review what I put in back there and all my notes so that I add a few more perennials this Spring. There is a coreopsis that does really well in my yard (Zagreb?). My marigold seedlings have another set of true leaves. The first set of leaves on my petunia seedlings look a little yellowish. I'm going to be more mindful of adding a tiny bit of plant food to the water when I put water in the trays. I am thinking maybe they need more nutrition? Any one have thoughts, chime in. (I just use a few drops of Miracle Gro liquid concentrate.)
I hope Spring is spraining every where. And I hope Pat is recovering!

Good Sunday afternoon, Dear Ones!
Yay, it is sunny and warm today, 54°! Church was nice, children's choir was super cute. We're going to work in the yard this afternoon, mostly clearing branches and debris. But first, we are meeting DBF's pal from FL for early dinner around 2. Our friend is on a mission to make some quick repairs to his Mom's house, here in town, before selling it. I'm sad because I think it means we won't be seeing him as often anymore, now that his Mom is gone. We'll have to go down to FL to see him....hey, maybe not so bad...
