Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday!! We have another day or two of this unseasonable weather to enjoy. I slept well last evening, except for some vivid dreams much of which centered around the election and the Electoral College. I will be glad when that gets out of my head!
What sad news yesterday about Alex Trebek! We watch "Jeopardy" just about every night and have for years. I am sure many people can say the same thing. What a life well-lived! R.I.P.
Ann ~ Fond thoughts and prayers are coming your way again today. May you find peace, and even joy in something today.
Judy ~ An earthquake?? That is shocking but I guess in light of all the natural disasters of late, it shouldn’t be? How very scary!! The last time we had to get rid of a mattress, the company that delivered the new one (and set it in place) took it with them. Otherwise I would have no idea how to dispose of one. It sounds like you’re staying at the Cape (since you sent food home with DH). I do hope this wonderful weather continues for you. We have a ‘cold front’ coming in Tuesday night. SO I best get out and enjoy today and tomorrow. Speaking of dreams, I have been having vivid ones too (I may have mentioned it previously) and sometimes if DH wakes me during it, I can recall all the details too. By morning, I usually have lost them. But they play out like mini-movies (much like you described).
The official name of the cookies is "McKenzie & Lloyds Danish Style Butter Cookies", and yes, they come in a blue tin. They come in a much larger one, but last year (and before) Ollie’s got a shipment of 12 oz. tins which are just the perfect size for taking to a gathering (if we remembered what a gathering is?) or handing to someone for a “feel-good” gift.
Pam ~ Glad you got the chance to sing, and you are so right that we all have to do whatever is within our own comfort zone. Our area restaurants are being required to collect patrons names and phone numbers for contact tracing purposes. The original order sounded like the server could just write it on the check when the patron orders - but someone decided that was too much work and so they are setting out a notebook and a pen for people to write it down themselves. That notebook (that everyone touches) and especially the ballpoint pen (that everyone touches) was a red flat for me. I sanitized my hands, then used the pen from my purse, then sanitized my hands again before leaving that area. I am appalled that they are promoting what I consider to be a very risky behavior - but we do have choices in how we handle it. I also am growing accustomed to people rolling their eyes, but so???
I don't have anything really on my agenda today. I have a couple of computer things to take care of this morning and I am working on a Meijer list, but the only pressing thing I have is deciding what to have for dinner. I have planned to go into school on Thursday and Friday to help pack lesson bags and then deliver them at the end of the week since our kiddoes are doing "remote learning". There won't be any students in the building (nor parents) so I can mask up and do my thing then come home.
I got out for a walk yesterday afternoon, and it was almost TOO warm! I was wearing a sweatshirt, which I immediately shed when I got home. I got about a third of my book read while DH was watching football and while he went to Kroger. We had veggie/bean soup and turkey roll-ups for supper.
I have had my yogurt 'n berries w/F1 for breakfast and will probably have LF cottage cheese with peaches and a HB egg for lunch. Supper is still to be determined.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi ladies!
Good morning from a beautiful Cape Cod day. The water is sparkling and it feels like spring, not November! The dogs and I had a long walk around the neighborhood and down on the beach where they love to sniff around for crabs. They love to go on the beach. Now I am back at work and setting up Zoom, etc.
Breakfast was my Bay's English Muffin - nodding thanks to Ann and two soft boiled eggs. I am snacking on pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew chunks now. This week I am determined to track and plan. I checked out the purple plan because I am so impressed with Pam's progress on it. I decided to think about it and am back on blue for now.
Lunch will be a small tossed salad and a Dave's thin bread ham sandwich. Dinner is set for two small lamb chops and more of the delicious baby golden potatoes. I'm part Irish and I sure love my potatoes! :-) My father was a big potato guy! :-) Mashed, baked, you name it. I decided to keep meals simple and within pts all week. Sue, do you make a vegetable bean soup or buy one? I love that combo. Those Danish cookies are good!!!
Sue, yes, I dreamed about the election, too! Then someone sent me a funny meme last week that said "With all this stress eating, I'll be at 270 before either candidate!" That made me laugh! Enjoy your Michigan weather and keep sending it our way. Also, your plan for "re-entry" into the work world sounds great. Keep us posted. I agree with you - I don't care who gives me a look. I am protecting myself, too. DH is even more vigilant. He's the N95 always mask wearer. He ordered me a box of the 3M N-95s. When walking, I wear the medical masks, but when out in stores, I wear the better ones.
I will be here at the Cape all week. The builder just came by again to drop off paperwork. He is super conscientious and a bit of a worry wart about everything which is not a bad thing, in my book. :-) I'll be continuing to chip away at getting boxes packed for donations/keeping. Also, we are looking into a storage pod for the furniture that won't fit in the garage that we want to keep or give to our niece. It looks like we will have to have everything out by December 15th or so. Eating that "elephant" one bite at a time. :-)
Pam, as I said earlier, congrats to you on such great weight loss All that walking really pays off, I know. You are dedicated to that routine with Debbie. How nice to have a nearby pal to walk with daily. Love the sweet oranges and those pecans sound great. We've been the recipient of southern pecans before and they are so great. I made candied ones for Christmas with my stash one year. My mother had a "contact" lol for delivery every year. How do you use all of them?

Sue, I am with you on the loss of ALex Trebek. He was such a classy man and so gracious and humble. What an inspiration of how to be courageous. We will miss him, too. I did read that he was in the studio up until 10 days ago filming and we will have "fresh" episodes until the end of the year.

Hi All !~ Moving right along with this beautiful Monday!
Ann ~ Thinking about you and sending warm, fuzzy vibes your way! {{HUGS}}
Pam ~ Thanks to your note I realized that I hadn't cleaned my coffee pot in a timely manner of late, even though the sensor light came on, I just turned it off and ignored it. Then when I thought about the date and how long I've had it, it was time! Time sure flies with some things?? I also ordered a half dozen charcoal filter pods for it as I am always forgetting them at BB&B then don't have a fresh one when I need it. Six of them should last me about a year, and with cashing in my reward points I only paid $1+ from my gift card. So they feel like "free" - and we all love "free"!! Thanks, Amazon ....
Judy ~ My thoughts exactly about Alex Trebek. Last of a dying breed of true gentlemen!! I am happy for him and his family that he was able to work right up to the end. I believe that would have been his first choice. I also read that meme about 270 and just cracked up!! Glad you are enthusiastic about tracking, etc., because for me that is the key! My veggie/bean soup is homemade (from Ann's recipe) and it is a lifesaver! I made it overnight this weekend in the Crock Pot. DH and I each enjoyed a cup of it with our roll-ups last night. I had some wipes in my purse, so yesterday DH suggested we wipe our table before eating. We have noticed that though restaurants are cleaning the tables (as pre-COVID) we seldom see anyone doing what appears to be "sanitizing" - just gotten lazy and complacent, I suppose. But he and I agreed that we can do it ourselves. I told him about Ann saying she didn't care who "rolled their eyes" and though we had a good laugh, we are in full agreement! It seems impossible that they are going to tear down your Cape house in a little over a month!! You are so right to approach eating that elephant "one bite at a time".
I got the coffee pot all done - and started some laundry. I planned Hamburger Pie for supper and got the ground beef out to thaw. Tomorrow we will have a turkey tenderloin that I took out of the freezer to thaw (with those Yukon Gold potatoes YUM) and I am slowly working my way through the week (inside my head). I want to have something planned and easy and quick for Thursday and Friday because I'll be at school and have no idea what time I'll be home.
Time for lunch and the noon news report (see what's new?) BBL.

Thanks for the sweet words, ladies. I so appreciate reading and getting my mind off 'stuff' I did take a walk and feel a little better. I did have to take my light weight jacket off as I was too hot! Imagine that in November!!!!
Still waiting for the phone. The gal text messaged Carl and was told that the part should arrive this week. I'm keeping my fingers goes eyes and arms crossed......
Waving and will CBL or tomorrow......

Ann ~ Good for you for getting outdoors and getting some fresh air and sunshine. Isn't that a hoot about getting 'too warm' walking in November?? The exercise can only help your mood (I hope). They are taking their sweet time with your phone. I would have thought (in today's next day world) they would have been able to order and receive a screen within at least the same week, but apparently not?
I just watched the news and caught the tail end of the president-elect's press conference where he was talking about the COVID vaccine (and it being FREE) that is on the horizon. Pfizer is very reputable so that may actually pan out? On 20/20 last night they showed the command center (and person in charge) of activating military to disperse it when it becomes available. It was all pretty promising (and exciting).
Now my turn to get out there for a walk and a good dose of Vit D (sunshine).

Sue that's what I thought as well. She said that all that sort of stuff is being held up due to COVID.....Me being not a patient person and skeptical I wonder if that's the case? Oh well....I just have to 'suck it up' and wait. Seeing as I am very much vitamin D deficient, I need to go for yet another walk. I take the capsules daily per my PCP and although it did rise up, she STILL isn't happy with it. Oh well....I don't pay attention to those 'blood count numbers' I simply follow her instructions LOL. Trying to lift myself from this horrible funk.......I thank you gals for understanding.... We need to take miss LuLa to the Vet. I noticed her limping yesterday and her paw looked a little red. Today it's swollen and has a red blister type of thing between her toe.....luckily they can see her today as an emergency visit which is more $$ but that's quite okay. I just want to be sure that they can DO something for her. It's always something.....

Happy Monday! It has been a busy day. Debbie and I walked a few minutes earlier than normal so that I could get home in time to get breakfast, get cleaned up and go pick up Jude from school for an orthodontist appt. He was happy to learn that his braces will come off in two weeks. Meanwhile, DH was being tended by the HH nurse, who was pleased with his progress. If all goes well, he will have the IV removed on Thurs. or Fri. He may also get to ditch the wound vac and restart hyperbaric treatments. We will see what the surgeon says on Thurs. I got a call inviting me to a rosary recitation at 4:00 to pray for our new pastor. It was well-spaced and masks required, so I felt very confident. It was also a peaceful, prayerful time. In between all this, we have been texting with contractors to get bids ready on repairs at the camp. We will make a quick trip down Wed. to meet with the adjuster. Breakfast today was blueberries, muesli and yogurt. Lunch was the remainder of my shrimp-stuffed potato and dinner will be crab au gratin, salad and a medley of butternut squash, apple and pear. If you have ever wanted to try yoga, one of my former instructors is starting an on-line yoga practice and it is free this week only. Here's the link: www.insideoutyogallc.com/podcast. Feel free to share. Disclaimer: I haven't listened to it yet, but she told me today her plan is to take one yoga move at a time and break it down. Anyone can do any of them but she urges caution if it says "experienced practitioners". Sue- I'm with you on the pens. During flu season I always carry my own and feel it's just one more way to cut down our exposure. I am thrilled with the news today that an effective immunization is in the immediate future, though I am sure it will probably take a year or more to get a whole world of people vaccinated. At least we have hope that life might return to normal at some point. Judy - We use pecans plain as a snack or toasted with butter and salt as a holiday treat. We like a baked sweet potato casserole that is topped with chopped pecans at Thanksgiving and Christmas. They can be added to the popular chex mix appetizer and used to make a crust for baked fish. We used to make a lot of cookies, candies, etc. with pecans, but no more. Keep taking your Cape de-modeling one step at a time and you will "git 'er done". Ann - I hope you are feeling better today and are able to "let go and let God" handle all the sorrowful things in your life right now. When such news hits so close together, it can really knock us off balance. I think your idea of getting some exercise is just the ticket.
