This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ****************************** Nice avatar, Linda. I love those “back in the day” photos. I have one of a family reunion back in the early 40s when DM was a teenager. It hung in my DGF’s dining room and my aunt made us all copies.
An immature Cooper’s hawk landed on the bird feeder pole yesterday afternoon and scared all the little birdies. Iggy was in the family room and took a picture after it flew to the fence. Only one little chickadee has been back since the invasion.

Thanks for the start, Chele. WOW on the Cooper's hawk. I can understand why the other birds have flown the coop, even temporarily. I wish our hawks would hang around a bit more than they do so the doves would leave. I've threatened to have them for Thanksgiving dinner, and not as guests. I caught a downy woodpecker tap tap tapping on the ridge cap a few minutes ago and had to chase him off. It's not wood so no idea what was going on. What did you get done today? Is your weather more fall-like today? How is your PF doing?
Becky, what kind of pill did the doc prescribe? Be careful doing so many steps until things start to improve. I wonder what was causing Marcy's problem. Were they hairballs? I'm glad changing her food turned things around.
I thought that was a Chevy in your photo, Linda. My parents had a black one that was the same model. So if you're talking electric blankets, I guess your cold snap continues. That was a pretty big ant hill (ant mountain?). They definitely can form quickly. I hope it will dissipate just as quickly now that you're treating it. The flower pots are a good idea to keep Micki safe. Good luck securing the gate until you can get it replaced. Good job on all the books being boxed up with a little time to spare. Congrats on the loss. Guess the Endocopy Diet is working for you 😁. I have to go to the dentist in about 3 weeks. Not looking forward to it. Hope both of your appointments go well. Fast in and outs is a necessity these days.
Kathy, can you belive it looks like another storm heading for the Gulf? Are you getting any additional effects today from Eta? How much rain have you gotten from it? When are you planning your next grocery order? Are you going to try to order any cleaning or paper products? How are the CV-19 numbers around you? We're over 3300 again for the day but our positivity rate is at its highest--more than 13%. It's looking like the WH election "celebration" was yet another superspreader event. Will those people never learn??
Is your weather cooling off, Denise? How are CV-19 numbers at your hospital?
I heard from Liz. Their numbers are climbing there in all her facilities. Zoe is continuing to have problems and Liz was up all night with her Tuesday night. The vet has changed her med doses, hoping that will help. I know from friends who have had dogs with Cushings that it's really tough to get things regulated at first. She sends her regards to all of you and says to stay safe.
We had about an inch of rain yesterday evening and overnight. It was still raining when I left for Osteo and finally ran out of rain about 3/4 of the way there. It's still cloudy but at least the rain seems to be over. A couple of us were going to clean up the MG office this afternoon but the MG coordinator called after I left Osteo to cancel. Apparently one of the staff has a kid who is testing for covid and they are limiting the office to essential personnel only for the time being. Not taking chances with our numbers skyrocketing like they are. Right now you just about have to assume that anyone you come in contact with could be positive and asymptomatic. It's a scary world.

Chele, nice picture! There are a lot of Florida red shouldered hawks around here and they scare some of the little birds away. The mockingbirds don't seem fazed by them at all though.
Linda, congrats on the loss!
Karen, it's been raining on and off most of the week with Eta to the south and then going across the state. I think we got 2 or 3 inches overnight and today, but I don't know what the total is. It's nothing like what they got on the west coast. One of our weather guys mentioned that he first started tracking Eta on Halloween! I haven't really checked our numbers, but I know they keep going up along with everywhere else. No, they will never learn at the WH. I'm really weary of the ridiculous lawsuits coming out of there too. I'm glad they're being safe in the MG office. It is scary out there. Thanks for the update on Liz.
Liz, sorry to hear Zoe is still having issues and hope the change in meds will help. That's scary to hear that the numbers are going up at your facilities. Stay safe.
Becky, how are the knees doing? We got a lot of rain from Eta, but not much wind. It's supposed to dry out and get warmer again.

Karen, I went to Kroger today and there was a real butthead behind me in line. He kept getting closer and even hit me in the arse with his cart. At the checkout he tried to put his groceries on the belt before I was finished unloading. I was livid but kept my cool and calmly told him to remove his stuff and to keep 6 feet back. He had the audacity to look hurt. Cleaning supplies were scarce again. They had onky 2 cans of Barkeepers Friend, so I took one. There were only 3 packages of Lysol Bowl Cleaner and I took one of thise as well. I wasn't planning to get them but if they are going to be scarce I thought I had better have some extra. They had a BOGO on chuck roast amd Iggy loves it, so I got some. He chopped one up into beef stew size pieces and cut the other in two.
Thanks for the update Liz and Zoe.
I am glad you cancelled the MG office cleanup. You had better take care when you go to the gym. Our governor says if the numbers keep climbing he is going to close the restaurants, bars and gyms again. Of course, he is getting pushback. We have had more than 7100 cases in the last 24 hours. I have 2 ophthalmologist appointments and a hair cut scheduled for next week and I hope that is it for the year.
Waving to the crew. Ms.Crochety Doom and Gloom out.

Thanks for the start Chele.Love your avatar. That is some hawk.
Linda Congrats on your weight loss this month already.
Karen It was a generic drug called Meloxicam. It has to be old to only cost 47 cents for 30 pills. The brand name is Mobic. It has helped some but I'm also walking slower and taking smaller steps when I'm walking and it doesn't hurt quite so bad. My IT band has gotten tighter on me tonight when it was better the last 2 days.TX surpassed 1M cases yesterday.I see where CA also did that today.Bastrop County is doing a lot better than most areas in the state. Thanks for the update on Liz.Good wishes for her and Zoe.
Kathy Stay safe.I hope the rain goes away soon.
Chele I can't believe that man bumped you with his cart.
