Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31
November 1 start weight: 171.5 November 8: 170 November 15: 170.8 November 22: November 29: December 6 December 13: December 20: December 27: December 31 final weight:
ACCOUNTABILITY NOT ANXIETY! DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF... Step by step brings results!
We walked at the clubhouse because it looked like it could rain at any time. Turns out it didn't though. Watched the Sunday morning shows, some HGTV, stitched a little, napped. Finally headed down to the basement to sweep up dust and kitty litter. We saved an old "Oriental" style rug from the old house that had seen better days. I rolled it out on the basement floor and Annie went nuts running around on it, rolling around, chasing imaginary foes. Eventually we plan on buying a weight bench and I thought it would be good to have a rug under it. I moved several totes of shells out the "holiday" storage room and onto the shelving in the adjoining room and unpacked a few more boxes. I need DH's help with most of what's left as it's tools and other stuff that used to live in the garage and I have no clue what we should keep or where it should go. It's chilly here this morning, in the low 40's. Will probably wait until it's warmer to go walk. Yay for retirement that I have that option.
Murphy- Hope you were able to rest and relax yesterday and your back is better today. Yay for the scale being down and getting your lunches together for the week. We didn't start the tradition of leaving painted rocks along the walking trail, but we are having fun participating.
Jan- WTG for AIM and otherwise good eating day. Hope the Best Buy folks are able to get your laptop going.
Liz- WTG AIM, scale down, progress on your knitting. At the old house, Annie lived outside and the other two inside. Annie is about a year older than the other two cats. Before we got Bill & Sookie, Annie was an indoor/outdoor cat, but she never accepted the two new kittens and refused to stay in the house with them. It didn't work out too badly in Florida, but I don't think she would be safe outside here. So far, she's happy in the basement, so that's the plan for now.
Cindy- Hugs!
Carole- Sorry about the conflict with taking care of dad and your work schedule. How much longer will he need someone to stay with him? Happy birthday to Ty!
Cathy- Glad the weather turned nice.

ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31

Countdown to retirement - 45 days!
Good morning all! I managed to get everything accomplished yesterday that I wanted to and still had time to rest my back. It's much better this morning and I didn't even need any Tylenol. I plan to limit any possibly straining activities this week though to give it a rest!
Amy - LOL at the picture you painted of Annie fighting her imaginary foes! I still have one long wall of my garage that has mostly décor stored in totes but if I rearranged it, I could have a better place for my stationary bike. Now that I kind of have pantry stored out there along with all the Motel Ministry stuff, I'm limited in space even though it is a 2 car garage! That may be a project for this January!
Jan - any word on your laptop?
Liz - yes you will have to get to work on projects for your new little angel!!
Carole - sorry it is such a juggle between work and taking care of your dad! I do remember how hard that could be! I won't speak for anyone else but just like we don't judge each other on the issue of A, I make no judgements about your daughter so no offense was taken! I have more personal faults that I can handle so I am not going to judge anyone else's decisions!! Sending hugs to you!
Cindy - hope your day is starting out well!
Cathy - are the Covid numbers still on the rise for you? Are you and DH still staying at home most of the time? I know a couple of states have decreed that families shouldn't get together for Thanksgiving but not here in TN. I wouldn't be surprised at another shut down though. I am pretty well set with food so if it happens after I retire, I should be ok.
I need to get the HOA computer stuff logged tonight since I didn't get around to that yesterday! Hope you all have a great start to your week! Murphy

ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31 November 1 start weight: 202.3 November 8: 202.6 November 15: 201.7 November 22: November 29: December 6 December 13: December 20: December 27: December 31 final weight: Good morning all. Just did my dance party/walking upstairs while DH is at the dentist. Good start to my day. Don't know why I got into the wine last night but did and now I'll move on. Dropped off my laptop, haven't heard anything yet. Hope they can fix it but I did have to buy an external drive so they could download all my stuff on there in case it can't be fixed. At least I'll have my Photos etc. Glad I had already finished making my Christmas cards and used what I needed! Tonight I'm making a WW pulled chicken in the crock pot so dinner is started. Sunny here today and not so windy. May get a short outside walk or at least some more steps when I go to pick up some groceries. I'm also planning to make one more run up to the cabin this week, supposed to get another 50 degree day. Want to check the last piece of the roof and I also may just cut down a Christmas tree to bring home from our property....never did that before! I don't know if any of you would be interested but I do an online Survey site called Swagbucks, you can shop through them, earn points etc and then turn them in for gift cards. I set up a separate e mail for all the junk mail etc but the site is legit, kind of like Ibotta or Rakutun I guess. I've made over $1000 in gift cards. If anyone is interested you could message me your e mail and I can send you an invite, or you can just check them out online. I does suck you into the computer more Hope you all have a great day. Jan Amy Sounds like Annie enjoyed the "new" rug! yay for retirement, hope it warms up for you, or you'll be dancing around in the basement with Annie! How is DSIL doing that used to live in the other condo? Even with out going to Indiana for Thanksgiving I bet DS will be glad someone will be making a turkey dinner that he can go to! Murphy Whee 45 days sounds like nothing!! Glad you got your chores done and still had rest time. Liz Is the blanket you're making one of those big chunky ones or a regular yarn? Cathy Good to catch the tip in the scale early. I wish I had done that last spring Well, I'm doing it now. SHooting for onederland by the end of the month. Carole HOpe all works out with your dad's coverage. How long will he need someone there? No offense taken here on Lexie's choice. I'm glad she was still able to make the choice and have a safe place to go. Are she and the BF still seeing each other? Happy Birthday to TY. Cindy Hope yesterday was a better day. Hugs.

Hi girls! I had a good weekend. Saturday I did end up going to the craft show and got a few things. I got all households a Christmas ornament 2020 that had toilet paper on it! Lol I also bought a beautiful wreath that says Blue Lives Matter. I’m sure DS will appreciate seeing it when he comes. Sunday I did go to in person church. It was the first time I had been there since they started singing. I didn’t realize just how much I missed it! I had a nice relaxing quiet rest of the day. This morning I was at the hospital by 8 for my scan. DH had to go back for a follow up on his ear. It’s getting better, but the Doc was really concerned about his BP. It’s been high all summer, and I’ve been nagging. Well today the dr put him on medication.
Amy: Your Annie stories make me smile! I hope your doughnuts are now all gone! My GF used to say she thought they put drugs in K C Doughnuts! Lol
Murphy: Glad your back is better! Just think, soon you will be feeling just as relaxed as Amy!
Jan: I LOVE the idea of a tree from the cabin property! How will you keep the kittens out of it, or any tree? Lol I’ve never really understood how those get money for shopping sites actually work. 🤷🏼♀️
Liz: I can only imagine how much you will enjoy working on YOUR grand baby’s Afghan. Lots of love in every stitch!
Cathy: You can do this! You have such determination and focus! I’ve done well this week making small goals for myself. Keeps things interesting and me on point!
Carole: You’re a sweetheart to worry about offending anyone. Your baby is 21! You brought back memories of going to Moms when you said how hot your dad keeps it! It would literally hit you in the face when you walked in! Yes, I think you should sleep upstairs in a bed!
Cindy: Hugs, gentle ones of course!

Checking in again. Went to the doctor's this morning...she thinks I had a minor concussion from what I told her. I have an ongoing headache, bit blurry vision. Will go back on Wednesday to do bloodwork that is needed anyways. Will make an appointment with my eye doctor...need to do it regardless. Hopefully will feel better tomorrow.
Hugs to all, Cindy

Monday: AF/OP/no exercise/positive attitude/etc
Of course...saying I would NOT see 180 again had the universe saying, "Wanna bet?" and there it was 180.8 this morning. One week ago I weighed 174. I know I have a few setpoint weights and one is 180 so am guessing my body took in the extra calories this week and leaped back to 180 and will gladly stay there or seek 200 if I let it. Nope, not letting it. I am back on track and will be keeping score on MFP and ITB as I work my way back down again...SIGH...
AMY: So glad you are getting your house set up as you want it, Annie loved the carpet in the basement and you are able to take walks at your convenience while enjoying retirement!
MURPHY: They SAY the numbers were down over the weekend and the lockdown rules are in place till the end of the month in Lebanon BUT my husband wonders if they manipulate the numbers for political reasons. We are staying home and might not go out again unless we need something we don't have at home. I am glad you have rearranged in the garage and hope you find it better than before you started!
JAN: How fun to start the day exercising/dancing! I have never chopped down a Christmas tree growing on the land. How would you get it home without all the needles blowing off as you drive home again?
GG: I am glad you enjoyed attending church? Did people wear masks and socially distance? Stay safe! I hope the scan goes well and glad your husband is on hypertension medication if his BP is high! I am up on the scale but hoping and visualizing a drop again...soon. I am not giving up BUT do question why I sometimes sabotage myself as I did a few evenings this past week. It always takes longer to lose than gain...
CAROL: Take time for you...hoping your father gets the all-clear to be on his own soon though I am sure you will continue to check in on him often.
CINDY: Did the doctor do a scan of your head? If your symptoms increase be sure to head in for further checkups by the doctor! Hope you feel better soon!
