I have been reading Cormoran Strike in the evening and every chance I get but his book is very drawn out. Plus a bit disappointed that Cormoran and Robin are not moving along closer together. Cormoran is in a weird place and more into himself than ever and lot going on with him but not talking to Robin except for work things, and she is too dumb to talk to him about it. So I am hoping that this straightens out but maybe not with the title being TROUBLED BLOOD. I do think my arm muscles are getting stronger. LOL And the plot is very good. don't think they are anywhere near clues yet. But I am.
things are a bit hectic here but I am coping as well as I can. Really enjoying spending time with my DGD and family. I am not going anywhere but to DDs house and did turn down the trip to the greenhouse to see the Christmas Tree Lane. If there are too many people or long lines they won't do it either, but it is better to just stay home for me.
Thank good ness for many books available as TV is worthless these days and not ready for Christmas carols yet so my favorite radio station is out as well.

Making good progress with ALL THE DEVILS ARE HERE (Louise Penny) and THE BOOK OF TWO WAYS (Jodi Picoult) and enjoying both. The going is slower with THE WATER DANCER (Ta-Nehisi Coates), a novel with magical realism during slavery. I'll give it more of a try, though. A special based on his BETWEEN THE WORLD AND ME will be streaming for free on HBO this weekend.

I have a couple new James Patterson to get into. Not sure which one first but they are a fast read and most of them I like.
I didn't get to go to either DDs houses for Thanksgiving. Was going for dinner at DD#2 and DD#1 later in the day but I have a head full and sinus drainage in back of my throat but, No fever but felt rotten so I cancelled out at both. DGGKids at both places and sure didn't want to pass anything on to them or any member of the family . It is just another day with a bowl of soup and one piece of pumpkin pie in the evening. Passed on the plate of food delivered too as I was just not hungry. I had made the pies and decided not to have anyone come to get them.
So not much reading on Troubled Blood but am a little more into it and getting close to the end. This has been a good read as long as you have the time to really let it soak in. that's why the James Patterson sounds so good right now.
busy time of year so hope you all have something light to read when you are tired and mind just not into dealing with deep.

I have started reading Monogamy by Sue Miller. I LOVE her work. It is really fun because the book is set in Cambridge, MA so many of my old haunts are part of the setting. Sue Miller and her significant other They were married, divorced and now live together) live in my first neighborhood in Cambridge, in Porter Square. She is 76 years old, such an interesting woman. The book is a New York Times notable book for 2020. It is about a husband and wife, both second marriages, their daughter who has a weight issue. The husband, Graham, had a troubled childhood and has issues related to that. Annie, his wife, is a relatively successful photographer. I am about 75 pages in and am enjoying it very much.
I need to sort through Christmas gifts today so am going to go back to my audio book, The Ritz. I think it has been a month since I listened to it last.
My DD et. al. have moved into their new home, but so far have spent more nights here than there. When they decided to spend yet another night after pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, I said to DH: "They are never going to leave!" We love them dearly and love having them around, but, if nothing else, I need some space to work on the Christmas presents I am making!!!!

I love Porter Square, Ann. What a great area to have lived in. I will have to check that book out. Of course DD et al are having trouble separating. Must be wonderful growing up with you and DH.
I am almost finished with the latest Louise Penny, which I have loved, and just picked up the second Julia Spencer-Fleming mystery. Also one of my book club's next book, A PURE HEART by Rajia Hassib. It is a novel about two Egyptian sisters. Never heard of the book or author, but the woman who recommended it has introduced me to some of my favorite reads so I look forward to reading it.
First, though, I will have to prepare for my reading part in tomorrow's section of Faulker's AS I LAY DYING. I binged on some movies and series on Netflix yesterday and look forward to some binge reading after I finish preparing!

I definitely could not have done AS I LAY DYING without this class, Ann.
I just started listening to DEAR EVAN HANSEN, a YA book based on the musical. Reviews say without the music it misses a lot, but I never saw the musical. I would like to, though. Sensitive stuff for teens to read about (feeling left-out, suicide, growing up without a father who left the family and doesn't seem to care, etc.) I am enjoying it more than most of the critics.
