Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

The nature trail was nice, as usual not a lot of people. Did chores around the house, then went out in the afternoon to Hobby Lobby and Walmart and got a haircut. DS was at the house by the time I got home. DH grilled salmon for dinner, I made a mango salsa (and peanut butter cookies for dessert). We had fun playing Winky Dink and visiting Annie in the basement. There are trucks pulling up in front of the neighbors across the street where they are putting in a pool. DH & DD got their Georgia driver's licenses/ ID in the mail. Hopefully mine gets sorted out soon.
Jan- How fun that DS is all decorated for Christmas! Did Finn come back? I recommend a gel pad for the hard chairs at the senior center.
GG- Sorry you still haven't heard anything.
Cindy- Yay for a live football Thanksgiving! Sounds like you were on the phone a lot with family.
Cathy- Enjoy talking with your family this weekend.

After a trifecta day filled with good Karma, I'm feeling ready for this new week. Guess our "stars" are currently on the upswing after the crazy start to the week. Had my list for the day and did it all!, I even had written down to call a place about donating DS old car that we've been trying to sell. Then in the morning someone responded to my ad on Facebook Market, came over and paid us cash! Yay. DH took all the basement junk to the dump, I purged bags at the thrift store. We made chicken enchiladas for dinner, using up leftovers so it didn't turn in to a Nacho junk food night. No A urges and took time out of my day to knit and stitch. Feels so good to get things done and be productive. My tree only made it into the garage so far but I am clearing spaces and rearranging to start getting decorations in place. Did get my big wreath hung outside after I added some more lights to it. Debating which day to go get the rest of my Thanksgiving groceries. Probably Monday so I can avoid the weekend crowds. Just going to enjoy the weekend at home. Have a good one all. Jan Amy Yep Scout went out in the morning and rounded up his brother. We just have to be more careful about them not sneaking out at night, it happens when DH tries to take out garbage or recycle before bed. Once it's colder I don't think they'll be so anxious to be out. You got a lot of steps!! I was happy to see this morning that there is only one cookie left in the bag of the ones I made DH saved me from myself so I can start my week fresh! Love the new routine with DS coming over on the weekends. GG Sorry it's so hard to make contact with the Dr. Hope you hear something this week and can get a date scheduled. How are you doing Thanksgiving this year? Family coming over or doing small get togethers? Cathy Reading too late Hope you got some sleep and get to talk to the family this weekend. Cindy SOunds like a fun adventure. Do you think anyone will wear a mask? I'd take one just for my own piece of mind if this is family you haven't seen in a long time, but then maybe they would be insulted, hard call. Wave to us all What kind of treats came home from the pot luck? Sun is coming up and the cats are ready to get outside. Time for me to get a coffee refill. Hi to everyone, will check back later.

Hi girls. Drizzly day here. I did some cleaning this morning. The plan for Thanksgiving is that we will have dinner here for DS & DD and their families. However, Addi had a slight fever and the sniffles last night. She was supposed to have some friends over for her birthday today, and they cancelled it. So who knows what this week might hold! I’m going to make sure I have everything I need, just in case it actually happens.
Cindy: OH WOW!! How cool! I hope it all works out! What fun!
Cathy: Hope you had a good night sleep!
Amy: And that’s why I don’t bake cookies! Or buy them! DH bought some LF Triscuits. I had 2 and had to leave the room. I could have eaten the whole darn box!!
Jan: Yay for a trifecta! And selling the car!
Missing you, Liz, Carole, and Murphy!

Hi! I’m home!! My brother was supposed to take over Dad duty Thursday/Friday and spend weekend but his boss has COVID so he needs to get tested. My dad is great, not demanding or whiny, I just want to sleep in my bed! I’ll go back tomorrow. He’s doing fantastic! I’m very proud of him.
Amy, I love how you play games with the kids
Gg, I hope Addi feels better.
Jan, I missed where Finn got out, how scary. Was he out all night? Was Scout “crying” for her brother? I think it’s awesome you cut your own tree!
Murphy, how is Callie today? When does she go to the vet?
Cindy, how exciting about the game! I used to love the Cowboys! When I was young I wanted to be a Cowboy cheerleader.
Cathy, IL is in tier 3 mitigation for Covid. The fitness center where I work now closed the locker rooms (except for bathrooms), you have to wear your mask the entire time (before you didn’t have to wear in on equipment) and no more group exercise classes. I worked out with a mask on and it wasn’t too bad. I never thought I’d be able to do it.
Liz, that’s a big blanket you’re making! On my memories page I had posted my cross stitch that I’ve been working on, now 16 years! I’m almost done!! I’m so excited!

What will you be accountable for today?
Move More Accountability: seem to be doing better every other day...need to get consistent. Did better today.
Sleep Accountability: was up at 5:30 this morning...my mind goes into gear and not able to stop it.
Nutrition Accountability: this has not come together this month
Journal Accountability: just need to start!
Happiness Accountability: better than okay
Habit Accountability: doing better on the water and cutting back the soda
Check in Daily Accountability: I'm back!
Time Management Accountability: Need some discipline!
Hi Everyone!
Nice day...spent the morning talking to a dear friend...we always pick up as if we talked the day before. Then my neighbor's Mom came by and we had a good chat. After that helped DS a bit in fixing a 3.5 ton floor jack that has been broken for more than five years. Put some bulbs in the ground, cleaned up some ants nests and threw some plants into the ground that weren't surviving in their pots so will see if they survive the winter in the ground. Cleaned up the bird feeders...now have a female and male cardinal coming to visit in the morning. I swear the male talks to Ainsley in the AM. I'm beginning to wonder if my snake oil is working??
So from the potluck we have turkey, mash potatoes, dressing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, stuffing, queso and jalapeños of all things. Out of the ten pound ham DS brought in, about a pound came home. People were saying they don't like turkey but love ham. I will cut the jalapeños up and freeze them. I gave my neighbor a lot of the food...my friend, her daughter and fiancé, five kids...they could make good use of the food. Delivered the can and box food to the Thanksgiving drive...asked about the turkey breast I was freezing but they said the grocery stores were really stepping up.
Watching "THE STAND"...Stephen King's book about a pandemic...makes one think for sure. A new adaptation is being made for current times that is coming out in December.
Amy, Is there anything else the Georgia licensing board would accept? Glad Annie is keeping visiting hours. Is your washing machine/dryer in the basement? Any word on whether Washington DS will be able to come for Christmas?
Jan, glad Scout found his brother. Hope he gave him a scolding. Glad karma was good to you! Yay for getting the wreath up. Our stores have been crazy and wish you success finding a good day to shop. We have had a bit of a hoarding and pasta seems to be the thing that goes. We will wear masks and I bought some Cowboy fabric to make them...yay for Joann's order and pick up. BIL is flying in from St. Thomas, not sure how the rest of family is coming into town. Yay for selling the car.
GG, I hope you heard from the doctor today. Thank you, I am excited. Hope Addi is feeling better and she can have a birthday party with friends. Glad you will be having family for Thanksgiving.
Carole, glad you checked in...makes me not worry. Hugs! Hope all is well for you and family.
Murphy, how are you doing, what is going on, has Judy moved in, did you get a gel pad for the choir seat...and yes it is a run on question sentence!
Cathy, hope you will be able to connect with family this weekend. I use to stay up to all hours reading but don't seem to do it with the iPad...I just love the feel of books. Does DH's brother self quarantine or does he visit?
So glad tomorrow is Sunday. I just feel refreshed on Sunday, especially since I wake up before sunrise. Trying to do better!
Hugs to all, Cindy

SATURDAY: AF/OP-ish/no exercise/positive self talk/credit for keeping track of what I ate
Talked to our daughter in the evening. She went through her stored too-small clothes and asked if I wanted any of them BUT I had gone to bed early, she packed them up and we chatted a second this morning. I told her not to worry about it but if there was something in the box she thinks is me to grab it. She thinks colors and style and our lives are so different that not much would be okay for me even if they were to fit when I hit goal weight. I told her I can shop when I am at goal again...
AMY: How lovely to be able to enjoy the nature trail and time with your son and daughter. I hope the indentification/driver's license get sorted soon! How is Annie doing in the basement? I haven't had a haircut since March...and my haircuts are iffy but what I am doing for now. I thought about letting it grow and had it to about bottom of the ear length BUT it was driving me nuts and the back looked...weird...as it usually does when I let it grow out.
JAN: What a sense of accomplishment to be able to check off all of those items on your to-do list! Glad that your kitties are both back inside safe and sound. Are your cats neutered?
GG: Hope Addi is okay. In your state it is okay to gather? I don't think it is in California and Washington where I have siblings and nephews BUT am guessing that where my son and daughter live, Alabama and Missouri, it is "lawless" as my daughter said earlier and anything goes. Stay safe!
CAROL: Good to hear from you. It sounds hectic working and being there for your father and not sleeping in your own bed. How long do they think your father will need someone with him? I have never exercised in a mask...am sure some are easier to exercise in than others. One friend said that she wears a "guard" or something that pushes the mask away from the face but allows the mask to seal against the face. I didn't realize there were tiers of covid-19 protection/laws...interesting.
CINDY: Your family feast sounds delicious! You sound busy and productive! My husband has not seen family for a long time but they talk almost every day on the phone. He is talking to his brother now and just talked to one of his sisters. Stay safe at the family gathering!
MURPHY & LIZ: Hope you two are okay!
