WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C113D10, 25 purple points (one slice pizza and 1/4 cup almonds = 13 points), 2 grams added sugar (salad dressing), 32.1 grams fiber, 49.6 grams protein, 1398 calories, 8 water.
No real exercise but lots of collateral movement. Tomorrow (Sunday) I get to be the aide... just AM. Janet will be back for the night shift. To be honest, I don't mind. We've gotten much better at it. It just occurred to me that maybe I should do one more trip away before Janet leaves. Maybe Durham, maybe Columbus. Maybe in February. It may be my last opportunity. TBD

914 calories + isolated restaurant dinner 26 g fiber 3 g added sugar 530 exercise calories
We had a few errands to run so we ate out last night at a local bar and grill style restaurant. I had a veggie burger and sweet potato fries with dipping sauce. I was so hungry when we got there and ate every bite. Of course the idea of blowing the entire day ran through my head when DH asked if I wanted to go to dinner in the evening. I decided that it didn’t have to be all or nothing. I could isolate my meal, not have a margarita (my drink of choice) with dinner, and avoid added sugars the remainder of the day. I had peanut butter on a wrap later in the evening which accounts for the added sugars. It was very sad to see how empty the restaurant was, though good to see that people are being careful. On a normal Saturday evening it would have been filled to capacity with a line out the door. I think our restaurants are at half capacity, and there were lots of empty available tables. I tipped our server well.
I got all the decorations up, but of course it led to other things like getting all the cat hair off the back of the chair and a half and dragging the couch out and cleaning behind it (yuck). I was exhausted by the end of the day.
Nancy, I borrowed the Zero Sugar cookbook from the library to get recipe ideas. They are all very high in calories and just not anything I would make. He uses puréed dates to sweeten his recipes. To me, that’s still sugar, even though it’s not “added sugar”. IMO, it is added sugar because the dates are only in the recipe to add sweetness. Anyway. I didn’t get any dessert ideas. I’m thinking maybe some chopped apple or raisins, or even pumpkin purée in oatmeal would be a nice change for dessert. I’ll put a little artificial sweetener in. And since I now have enough calories for nuts, chopped walnuts. I was thinking the same thing about a trip for you before Janet leaves.
Kathy, I am fully recovered and most relieved that I’m not one of the long haulers. I remember your weight was way down last week and you attributed it to water weight. Darn, I guess you were right.
Lori, this is a sad year for so many. I’m not sure I would decorate if people weren’t coming over. Most of the ladies who come to the cookie exchange at my house have had the virus recently, so we’re going to do it. I think only 3 ladies haven’t had it, and I’ve offered the option for them to just exchange cookies and leave. If it’s a nice day, I’ll open the windows and we can even do it on the deck. We had such a pretty picture of everyone’s cookies out on platters last year; this year everyone will prepackage her cookies ahead of time. Strange times indeed. I talked to my mom on Thanksgiving and she seemed so sad.
Jane, I’m thinking of you.

C56. D2. Yoga plus 80 minute slow walk. I'm still not recovered. My cough is getting worse and I feel worn out. Today is D16 COVID.
Nancy- hope your days as aide goes smoothly. I hope you can get away for a trip before Janet leaves. My only warning is that this COVID is a harsh illness. So be safe! Maybe you'll have had the vaccine by then.
Jan- your dinner out sounds like a nice change of pace. You made good choices. Nice on the deep cleaning. I count APs for that once a week. It is a workout!
Lori- Nice that your house is looking festive. I'm going to give that some thought for my own house.
Jane and Louise - sending you good thoughts.
Kathy .

The weather this weekend was so nice I was able to get in over 10,000 steps both days. I want to enjoy the mild weather as long as I can. Eating was really good this weekend, we had a healthy turkey dinner Saturday night and made fish tacos today. I also made turkey soup and started a batch of Christmas cake balls. There a good freezer cookie so I can make ahead of time. Next, I’ll start writing Christmas cards, looking forward to having time to write notes in them this year.
Nancy, A trip before Janet leaves would be wonderful. Hope it works out.
Jan, great job enjoying your meal and making the decision not to order the drink. Cookie exchange sounds like fun. I’m trying to have a positive mindset and enjoy the holidays as best as possible - find the positives and not focus on the negatives. Starting with extra time to write notes in Christmas cards also planning a Christmas brunch with WW friends (like we did for birthdays).
Kathy, so sorry your still not feeling well. This virus effects everyone so differently....praying you feel better soon - maybe a doctor’s visit is needed...

Jan - Just think how it used to be - one cheat meal would lead to a whole cheat day if not week or even month. We've come a long way, Baby. I hope it will be the same way at the restaurant where we're celebrating Grace's 21st. How can I not go? I tend to have a piece of fruit for dessert and leave it at that. I guess you could call my afternoon and evening snacks a dessert - They're mostly a root beer float (enlightened) and an enlightened bar. Lately though, I've been substituting almonds or a baked sweet potato on occasion. As for the trip, I forgot about the planes and covid and immediately told her to forget it. Best laid plans......... <g>.
Lori - Today I tried Quinoa for the first time ever. I had it with our chicken and onion dish instead of the rice. It was delicious! It absorbed the 1/2T of low sodium soy sauce which made it really tasty. A portion is 1/4 cup dry and I used half (3/4 cup cooked), saving the rest for tomorrow. Do you eat quinoa? If so, what do you do with it? I used Edamame for the vegetable and a cup of cantaloupe chunks for the fruit. It was a good lunch. Dinner was rainbow trout with 1/2 large sweet potato, roasted mushrooms and an apple. Who is this person?? Great step count!!
Kathy - Really sorry your recovery is slowing down. I'd give in to it. Maybe the walking should wait. You certainly don't want a relapse.
Lori -
