Good morning all. Can't believe it's the last day of the month. Time surely has a way of passing by. I did sleep well...not long but woke up refreshed and that's all that matters. Nothing on the agenda today. Sad to say I never DID finish my book. Hopefully today I shall. So far no rain and that pleases me...it'll happen in the afternoon!
Pam LOL to another 'flashing sister'.....I too find that if I spend more time reading I'm more at peace. I don't have a FB account never really had the need for one. But the news is depressing at best. Your fettuccine sounded delish. Best part is leftovers
Off to complete online chores. Will CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday!! We have a light gentle snow falling which promises to turn into our first snow storm of the year overnight and into tomorrow. I slept long and well last night, despite not walking during the day. I went up and down stairs enough times to get a good work-out.
I woke early and poured my first cup of coffee and turned on the Christmas tree lights and sat and enjoyed!! It was definitely worth all the work yesterday.
Ann ~ I am also hoping to get back into my book today. I have been promising that all weekend, but other things drew my attention away. Perhaps today?? Enjoy your day of rest .... you deserve it!!
Judy ~ I believe you will love the heated mattress pad! We got our first one years ago and because I didn't know if we'd like it, I bought an inexpensive one that was on special at a store long closed now. Well, we fell in love with it!! It lasted 10 years (of it's one year warranty) so eventually we replaced it with a better one (a misnomer). It is a different kind of warm from the electric blanket (which we used throughout the Fall and just took off). It actually heats the bed up much more. I turn it on a couple of hours before bedtime, and then turn it off when we go to bed.
Pam ~ I enjoyed hearing about your Christmas decorations. We have a combination of the (to me) primary colors along with an assortment of ones we've received as gifts, and ones we have collected in our travels, and some we've given to each other for milestone events. That makes our tree very personal to us. I think everyone's should be, don't you? Hope you get the Camp all winterized.
I got a text from Taylor (my school teacher/partner) and she suggested she'd drop off some arts and crafts stuff to me to work on at home, and then pick them back up on Wednesday. Since we all have to be in individual rooms, there really isn't a good place for me to work at school, and I think I'd rather work at home anyway. I'm especially glad that I got all my decorating done over the weekend.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue so happy you can work from home. I am also enjoying the Christmas lights on this rather gloomy day. I have no intentions of facing the 'outside world'. In fact, I am going to shut down now. wishing y'all a peaceful and pleasant Monday...see you tomorrow

Hi All ~ And so ends another near perfect day! I brought in the pot of turkey broth and scooped out a medium sized container of clear broth and put it in the freezer downstairs for future use. Then I brought the pot with onions, carrots and chunks of turkey on to boil with a half bag of egg noodles. it made an absolutely delicious pot of soup! I had two mugs of it at lunchtime. When DH got home (from Kroger) he hadn't had lunch today, so I warmed him a mug of soup and he raved about it!! I still have turkey noodle soup AND vegetable/bean soup for this week - and it's looking like it's going to be a soup week! I also have the makings for tomato soup and butternut squash soup for someday!
I got all the laundry caught up this morning and supper prepped. I seasoned and put a pork sirloin tip roast in the oven a little while ago and have sliced cinnamon apples ready to go in the oven with it. I have a steamer basket of Yukon Gold potatoes and baby carrots to go in the Instant Pot closer to suppertime. YUM!!
Taylor came over this afternoon and brought me the stuff to make craft projects for our kiddos and she'll pick them back up on Wednesday. She has to pack the bags for them on Friday. That will give me some "busy work" and make me feel like I'm contributing (especially since they are paying me). I had spent 45 minutes on Zoom with our class for Large Group this morning and I feel more in touch being able to see their faces (and Taylor's).
I received DH's Rx orderdelivery this afternoon, and an Amazon order. I wanted some magnetic acrylic picture frames. I have one that I got as a gift years ago and I have a picture of Diane (VBF) and me in it on a shelf. On the other end of the same shelf I had a great selfie type picture of DH and his VBF. His was in a plastic frame and I noticed all too often how it (1) looked cheaper and (2) had a glare with shadows which were distracting. My picture never did that. I went to the Hallmark store on Saturday morning while I was out looking for another one, but they didn't have them. However, I was able to find them online with distribution and delivery by Amazon! SO I ordered them (a pack of 3) Saturday and got it today. It is already on the shelf and looks so much better!!
DH had been looking at some ankle high boots with fur lining online that zip instead of tie, but when I read the reviews they weren't good! Too many people had bad things to say about them which made me leery! Today I went on Amazon and found a similar boot in the price range I was looking for (about 2/3 of the price of the one with the bad reviews). Also free returns! So I have ordered them and they will be here on Friday. I also got an email from Lands End (where I buy DH's jeans) with 60% off and free shipping - so I ordered him a couple pair of new jeans. I am almost finished Christmas shopping. Since we're not in school, there won't be an occasion to exchange gifts there.
We are still having a gently falling snow. It is predicted to be the "worst" from mid afternoon today until mid afternoon tomorrow. Fortunately I'm not planning to go anywhere. I am really enjoying being home. The only thing I am really missing is going to school and seeing my friends and the kiddos.
Have a wonderful evening ..... and sweet dreams, all!!

Good afternoon, Cafe Dwellers!
It's been a busy day, but I feel I have gotten a lot accomplished. Debbie and I walked this morning and since I wore gloves, I felt comfortable. When my hands are cold it makes me feel cold all over. I got back home and got things ready for the HH nurse, then had a bowl of banana, yogurt and muesli for breakfast and put the turkey carcass on to boil. After HH left, I started laundry and then started the gumbo roux, cut up and pre-cooked the sausage and the onions and garlic. I was amazed at the amount of turkey that came off the bones, about 3-4 cups. The gumbo turned out well and I had a bowl for lunch. I put 2 1/2 quarts in the freezer and saved a couple quarts for dinner tomorrow and lunches during the week. I could eat gumbo any day, but it's especially good when it's cold out.
I worked on the grocery list as things came to mind today and did several other little chores. The last load of laundry is in the washer and everything that is dry has been folded and put away. We had a nice chat with DGDs who are anticipating playing in the snow tomorrow. They showed me their Christmas tree and pointed out ornaments that I had given them and ones that were their mama's when she was a little girl. Poor DSIL was hard at work at his desk in the dining area. How he can concentrate with all the pandemonium of two kids amazes me!
Sue - Your dinner sounds delicious! How nice to be able to work from home during the snowstorm.
Ann - I pledged to start reading more, but it hasn't happened yet. So many distractions! I may have mentioned I started a Barbara Freethy after you recommended her as an author and am liking it so far.
Judy - Waving and hoping your day is going well.

Happy I dropped back in. Just reading about your day helped brighten mine.
Pam happy you are enjoying Barbara Freethy. I finished #3 and started #4 in the series. Which one are you reading?
Sue your meal sounds delicious. I'm a fan of soup.
It's poured all day long. TG for the carport where LuLa can relieve herself. It is supposed to stop late morning! I find rain depressing. Christmas music and lights lit helped get me through.
Waving to Judy.
Until tomorrow....

Ann - I'm reading Don't Say a Word. I don't think it's part of a series. I only had a few to choose from at my library, so I just picked one that sounded good. I still haven't gotten any reading done, but I made some low-carb muffins with almond flour and the over-ripe bananas in our fruit bowl. They smell and look awesome! I may have one for breakfast with a boiled egg, as they are 6 SP on purple plan.

Hey all,
THis is the first chance I have had to write today before I drop off to bed. I am so tired!
Work was extra busy after the long weekend, and I had tons of scheduling to do there and lots of emails to answer. My day started out very scary! I took D&D for a walk before the predicted big storm- and boy, it IS a dousy - 60 MPH winds and wild rain all day long here on the Cape! D&D and I were walking when a neighbor stopped and warned us of a coyote on the road ahead. I picked up a couple small rocks and put them in my pocket. We beelined for home and were in the back yard because Doug had yet to do his "business" and was sniffing around. I kept scanning the area for the coyote and did not see it. Then, alll of a sudden and without a sound, it was right upon us about 10 feet away! I instinctively started yelling at it and waving my arms and I threw the pebbles. It started to trot away and stopped and glared at us some more. The dogs were barking like crazy. They knew it was no "doggie." I repeated my threat and it went off behind our garage, but in NO hurry at all. D&D and I hurried into the house. Our back yard is a big flat acre and wide open so it did not come out of the woods. I am terrified of them. DH called both the police and the environmental animal people. Nothing much they can do. I was shocked to see it out at 10 AM but they are all over the place. I plan to carry whistles and sticks when I go out. I filled a tin can with coins and put a lid on it. It makes a lot of noise. Do you guys see them and if you do, what do you do? I would rather see a black bear than a predatory coyote. I swear he was ready to pounce on the dogs and me.
I had taken my barrels out to the curb for recycling and trash but the wind is so bad that I had to go and get them and put them in the garage. It's been an unsettling day.
The wind is still howling. I am off to bed before I lose power. I did have a long chat with DDIL in NJ and visit with my DGS who was eager to show me his belly button. LOL He is 18 months. She and I talked about what he'd want for Christmas so I accomplished that as well tonight. DDIL wants nothing but mentioned some of the high end salon shampoo and hair products that she loves so I am getting those for her at least. Her parents go way overboard in gifting for all of them and she told me she would rather I get the baby some clothes and other stuff. DD in CA is not big on lots of toys for the kids. A couple and then some clothes and some sort of enrichment stuff like art lessons/music or kiddie gym stuff.
Off to beddy bye and I hope I don't have nightmares. Poor Doug never did do his "business" - we tried again later but raining too hard. Oh well, if he has an accident, it won't be the end of the world. We definitely plan on putting up a fence when we get the house up around the whole yard. I've officially had it with coyotes! Sorry no personals today. More tomorrow!
Oh - Pam, i loved your table and press-back chairs. We had a beautiful claw footed oak table for a long time and press-back oak chairs with cane seating. I loved them. The crafts were beautiful, too!
