Good morning all. Slept well and grateful. Today I want to do housework. I've been procrastinating long enough. I guess Santa's elves aren't going to 'show up' LOL. We'll see how far I get

Hi Ann and all cafe pals,
Ha ha on Santa's elves! If they stop by, will you please send them down here to me? I need packers and helpers!! :-)
I slept well also. I watched a Hallmark movie last night for escapism. It was cute and like a cross between Home Alone antics and a sweet story. It was a commercial free- Comcast event with Anne Heche and it had an adorable Bassett Hound puppy.
Today is more packing and working. I'm off to get showered and dressed. I have to swing by the PO to drop off cards to our grandchildren. I have not done my regular cards yet, and I think they will be late arriving, but that's okay! Too hectic to do cards now. It is one of my favorite traditions despite the cost of cards and stamps today. I only send them to out of town friends, but this year I might reach out to those I have not seen in nearly a year!!!
TTFN...have a great Friday.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! I also slept well and woke refreshed! I think we must remember to count our blessings in that regard. I remember all too well the years when I experienced a sleep disorder and how upsetting it was! This is so much better in every way!
I don't work today (being Friday) but I managed to fill up my morning. I had planned to mop the kitchen floor and lay fresh rugs. THEN before he left, DH had a run-in (literally) with a 3-tier shelf in our bathroom. He went to pull out a Lysol wipe from the container on the back of the toilet and his hand hit the bottom of the shelf (which was loaded with miniatures) and everything went flying! I let him start cleaning it up, but remembering that the bathroom is somewhere that we walk barefoot (and he is on blood thinners) I offered to help. I got out the vacuum, and after shaking the rugs outdoors, he washed up the fake plant on top and the shelves - while I cleaned off the miniatures that I was going to actually use. He headed off to work; then I scrubbed the bathroom floor and the towels are in the dryer now. THEN I got to start on the original chore and vacuumed and scrubbed the kitchen floor and brought up fresh rugs from downstairs. Now everything is clean, washed and put back in place. My summer kitchen rugs are hanging downstairs to finish drying. Then I'll put them away. Whew!! More than I had set out to do today but now that it's done, it's a blessing.
I had FF Greek yogurt 'n berries w/F1 for breakfast. I plan on having my homemade turkey noodle soup for lunch; and DH offered to make a big salad tonight and I will top them with grilled salmon. We are looking forward to that! I think tomorrow is our night to have leftover Thanksgiving dinner. I also found another container of turkey breast in the freezer, for sandwiches. Then there are two more containers of chopped dark meat which I will use for casseroles. Yesterday while shopping, I got all the ingredients for my Instant Pot Spaghetti (only I'll use Penne) so when the Venison Chili Mac is gone, we'll be working that into the rotation.
It is time to warm up my lunch so I can watch the noon TV news while I eat. BBL. Make a great day!!

Well I am very happy to finally be one and done. Just waiting for the last load of laundry to dry so that I can fold and put away. The house is clean! Nuff said. I even switched out the wax tarts in the Scentsy burners. I have fresh cut frazier in there. Love that pine scent. I threw together a chicken veggie rice casserole so that's supper. All I need to do is pop it in the toaster oven. Quick and easy. And I'm all over that. Carl FINALLY decide with much b'ing from me and helpful pushes from our PCP to go to the VA and get a hearing test and get fitted for hearing aids. He called from the road and goes back on 1/8 to pick them up. There is a trial period that he was told all about if he doesn't like them he can go back and try a different pair. Now maybe I can stop repeating myself!!!!! Nuff said! Judy I'll gladly sent the elves over.....however I have no clue where they are LOL....ya just can't get good help these days Glad you enjoyed the movie. I send out very few Christmas cards. Just not into doing that sort of thing. Color me odd LOL. Wow Sue...that shelf toppling over could have had a horrible outcome. So happy that you were there to lend a helping hand and get it all done. I bet you are happy to put all of that 'extra work' to rest. What is your recipe for IP spaghetti? I'd appreciate it if you could direct me to it. I know it's time consuming to type it all out. The microwave just beeped and my soup it ready. I'm hungry..... Waving and will CBL

HI Ann ~ I just had a minute so I peeked in to see what was going on. Glad Carl took care of his hearing issue. My VBF and her husband both recently went for hearing tests and both needed hearing aids. Now that they have them, they love them! The recipe I use for my IP Spaghetti is by The Salty Marshmallow - Instant Pot Spaghetti. It is quick and easy and I usually have all the ingredients on hand. I made it once with spaghetti, then switched to whole wheat Penne which we prefer. It was delicious -and it makes a huge potful! I had dinner the first night and filled two containers each another meal for two. DH just came home to pick up a fan and shop vac, to go help his brother who flooded his lower level last night. I was so glad all the cleaning was done when he got home, as he walked in and said "Wow". I felt that way too. I might make a run to WalMart today, or I might read and go tomorrow?? So undecided.....

Will try to CBL...if not, see y'all tomorrow.
Carl was very impressed with the VA gal that gave him the hearing test. Happy that he made out well. He goes back 1/8 to get them.

Thanks for the recipe hookup, Sue. I went and printed it out. Looking forward to making that in the very near future.
We are in for a wet/heavy snow storm...starting Saturday and into Sunday. Depending on the forecast you follow...could be 6-10". I'm just hoping that we don't lose power.

Hey all again.
I did a fair amount of sorting and packing of lots of soft stuff today. Blankets, coats and so forth. I also did laundry and changed the sheets. The coyote was back in the yard today at 9 am stalking a neighbor’s cat. My neighbor called. It makes me petrified to go out. I’m wearing bear bells and a tin cup with coins. We walked on the canal today later on.
A storm is brewing but we are going to get rain, not snow, here on the coast. Ann, I think you could be in for several inches of snow.
Sue, I’ll check out your recipe when my life gets back to normal. I like the Marshmallow name...lol I have done SkinnyTastes recipe for spaghetti.
Sorry to hear about your DHs mishap but glad he didn’t get cut by the miniatures on the shelf.

Good evening friends!
Yesterday's appt. with the surgeon went well. She was very pleased with the progress of DH's wound and said we could return the wound vac. I called today and it is scheduled for pickup on Monday. After the appt. I went into DSW and tried on the low cut boots I had chosen online. I found one pair that I was pleased with and bought them and 3 pair of socks. I felt quite comfortable with only 3 other customers in the large store with me.
Then, against my better judgement, we met DD2 for lunch at a Greek-Lebanese restaurant. I had suggested getting takeout and going to DD2's to eat, but DH REALLY wanted to eat out. The restaurant was fairly crowded, tables too close together and, I am sure, in violation of the current limit of 50% capacity, though the tables around us did clear out fairly quickly. I have a really bad feeling about this and will be counting 14 days and hoping none of us gets CV during that time. Cases in LA have gone from 300-400 per day to 2500-3500 per day and the Thanksgiving surge is yet to come. My next door neighbor told me today that she has Covid. She is one of our hospice nurses. I picked some fresh satsumas and left them on her doorstep. She and her husband are also caregivers for his grandmother who lives in an apartment connected to their house.
I managed to get the Christmas decorations sorted, with a box to give away and a box for the DD's to share. I put up candy canes outdoors along the sidewalk and decorated the mailbox with greenery and a bow. Inside I decorated the tree and put out various decorations all over inside. The tree won't win any decorating awards, but every ornament has meaning for me. Many were made by people I love--my mom, brother, sister, children and grandchildren and others were bought on vacations in China, Mexico, Italy, Austria, Germany and various places in the US. Some were gifted by dear friends all the way back to my college days. It may not be fashionable, but it suits me just fine and brings good memories.
My mom loved to crochet dolls. She did an angel for me and one called Snowflake which was a brown-haired doll dressed in a blue dress with a cape. Over the years, the doll's hair disintegrated, so she is now bald. I researched craft sites online and ordered a new doll. The only problem is, Mama sewed the dress on her. I think I have found the end of the yarn she used to sew the bodice closed and will try to save it. Other wise, I will either have to match the yarn or use a ribbon or something to close up the back of the dress. I have several other decorations made by a dear friend who died of cancer years ago that need mending in one way or another and will try to get that done. I also have several ornaments that I should be able to fix with a hot glue gun. Anything that was beyond repair got tossed, including a couple of mercury glass ornaments from our childhoods, which nearly broke my heart. We have all the ornaments from DH's family and several from mine.
I haven't walked for exercise in 2 days, which has given my almost-blister a chance to heal, but I haven't been sitting still either, which is good. Tomorrow, Debbie and I are scheduled to walk, plus DGS and I will be cleaning the church, so I should get lots of steps. The tin god smiled on me today and I posted a .6 loss. Breakfast was pecan banana pancake and a slice of bacon, lunch was leftover ribs and potato salad and dinner was baked pork chop, sweet potato and mustard greens.
Judy - Here we would get a .22 pistol and end that coyote, but I'm sure that would be frowned upon at the Cape. I hope D & D and your neighbor's cat stay safe. Even DH enjoys an occasional Hallmark movie, though we laugh at the predictable plots.
Ann - Your Carl is a man among men and treats you like his queen. I am glad he listened to the queen and ordered the hearing aids. I think he will be glad. They are so technologically advanced now that some can be adjusted with a cell phone.
Sue - I am so spoiled living with everything on one level. Having to to upstairs and downstairs constantly would wear me out. My knees are bad and the going down is harder for me than coming up. I'm glad your DH wasn't injured with the mishap. Shattered glass just scatters everywhere, so you were smart to get it all cleaned up for him.
I have been half-watching a movie with DH, Fool's Gold with Matthew McConaughey. Silly, but fun. When it ends, I will get jammified and settle in with my book. I am enjoying it very much. Thanks Ann!
