Good morning all. Woke up to pouring rain that is supposed to switch to snow later in the afternoon. The storm is downsized from yesterday...now they are saying 1-3" We'll sit and wait and see what happens.
Carl needs to get a part for our toilet. I may or may not go with him. Probably I'll just stay put. Coffee will help me decide
Pam so very happy that the surgeon is pleased with DH's progress and that he can return the wound vac. Baby steps Great job on finding comfy boots and socks. One of these days I need to do that...just not ready yet! Praying that the lunch out didn't involve COVID. We've yet to eat out or even do delivery. I'm fine with that. At times I'm tempted, but one of us talks the other out of it. So far, so good. Your Christmas tree with the special ornaments sound perfect. I love looking at our tree and for the same reason...memories Yeah on the scale smiling up at you! Mine goes from a little grin to a spit. I'm good with it as I'm still in my happy zone!
Waving and will CBL

My day is planned and tracked. Had a cheese omelet and half Bay's English muffin and a banana for breakfast, lunch will be tomato and cheese on the other half of the English muffin and a bowl of soup, and for supper Carl picked up a pot roast and veggies while I was at the salon the other day so that's supper with plenty of leftovers Miss LuLa woke us up and has the 'runs'. We shall watch her today and tomorrow and pray that it passes. If not, we'll call the Vet on Monday. Always something. The rain made the decision for me. I am staying put today and just going to have a low key day. At least I can enjoy a nice clean house LOL. Will CBL....waving............................

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday!! We have a beautiful sunny day today, though it is cold. I slept very well, indeed, and woke looking forward to my clean kitchen and pot of coffee. I do enjoy turning on the Christmas tree lights in the still-dark house and enjoying my first cup of coffee with it. I just love this time of year .....
Ann ~ You saying Carl needs to get a part for your toilet reminded me of the last time we did that ..... I noticed a wet mark on a ceiling tile downstairs and called DH's attention to it when he got home. He had a pretty good idea what it was, so told me to go up and flush it while he watched (the pipe underneath the tile). Sure enough, there was a small leak. He knew it needed a new seal and I asked him how much more work it was to just replace the whole thing? It turns out it's the same amount of work. We had the 'builder's special' toilet and went to the store and bought one that was advertised as super-flush and comfort-height and he had it installed by the time I fixed supper. We have both been so glad we did that, as the height is so much easier on our knees. Sorry about your rain, but enjoy your peaceful day. I do hope everything is okay with Miss LuLa!!
Judy ~ Thanks for the adorable video!! She is so cute, and has a beautiful voice along with an adorable affect about her. That made me smile and started my day off with a treat. I was wondering, how did you get to watch a Comcast movie? We have Comcast for our cable provider, but since we don't subscribe to Hallmark or any of the premium channels, I fear I will miss Christmas movies this year (however I did notice ION is playing some) so I thought if it was an add-on feature with Comcast, you would know??
Pam ~ I know what you mean about dine-in. Our Health Dept in MI has closed all indoor dining and bars (for 3 weeks). Even before they closed it 2 1/2 weeks ago DH and I had talked each other out of going out any more. The restaurants seem to be getting more and more lax about their cleaning (not to mention sanitizing) and the haphazard use of masks is downright scary! I do miss the going out, but I am also very leery of trusting others with my well-being. I enjoyed hearing about your decorations and the memories attached to them. I have a wooden reindeer that sits on the floor and his back is a plant-holder and he has an artificial poinsettia. I saw him at a Craft Show the year DH and I got married and didn't buy him. The GF I was shopping with went back and got him and gave him to me for Christmas. I was so surprised! She has since passed from cancer, but he reminds me of her. I have had to "fix" him many times, and finally the year we moved here I made him his own special box for storage. He still has his original flower, even. So he is 29 years old this year and always makes me smile!! Such sweet memories .....
DH came home yesterday with a beautiful poinsettia plant. He always gets me one at Christmastime and I do enjoy them! It is the darkest red and very full of blooms. He was a welcome addition to our living room.
We had our salad last night and it really, really hit the spot! We somehow had missed salad in our rotation, as we discovered when DH found the romaine in the drawer had browned, and then when the salad tasted like 'nectar of the gods' <LOL> This morning we had toasted cinnamon raisin bread with bacon and a fruit bowl of orange and banana. I like to use up our fruit at the end of the week and that used all the orange and banana. We have decided to have the leftover Thanksgiving dinner tonight. Which reminds me, I better go get it out of the freezer .....
BBL. Make a great day!!

Our snow has started to fall and looks so pretty and festive. It's just gloomy enough to be able to have the tree and lights lit and enjoy them. I have my scentsy burners on with the fresh cut Frazier scent which we both love. Soft Christmas music is playing....a day of solitude Miss LuLa is still not feeling well. She did eat a little and drank water so I'm grateful for that. Nothing much we can do but just keep an eye on her. Right now she is on her section of the sectional. We are all on the same wavelength LOL. Sue our toilet issue is more of running water after flushing...it's not leaking thank goodness. I simply closed the door to that bathroom and we will use the other one until Carl decides if he will go today to get the part or not. I'll leave that up to him. Seems like we all have Christmas decorations with a hidden meaning behind them. I love my little tea light candle holder with a snowman holding a sign reading 'Let It Snow' and a little shade that goes over the tea light....a dear worker gave me that the year before she passed from cancer. Every year I light it, say a prayer for her and enjoy it. I wish that video would have opened...sigh....oh well.......thanks for explaining it, Sue. Now I can picture it in my mind's eye Speaking of coffee...I think I'll brew another pot. Waving and hope y'all enjoy a wonderful Saturday. Needless to say I will NOT be walking anytime soon. Taking a day off every now and then is good for the soul

Ann ~ Not at all!! I think some things just begged to be shared - and that's definitely one! Enjoy!!
I just got a text from DGS in Florida and he has contracted COVID (from his roommate who got it from his family). I guess that pretty well sums up the term "community spread". I am sad that he is so sick but at least he is at home. Said Wednesday was pretty rough, but he thinks he's better now.
Meanwhile, on the home front, I went downstairs and opened the washer to put a load in the dryer, only to find it full of clothes and water. Yikes!! Fortunately DH is home and will take a look and see what he thinks. I really don't want to have to hand wring all those clothes and take them to a laundromat. In fact, I don't even want to go near a laundromat right now. But we'll see .........

Hi all, it’s raining cats and dogs here on the Cape right now. But, we are not expected to have any snow. DH has gone out to pick up our salads for lunch. We both worked pretty hard and packed about 10 boxes of kitchen stuff this morning. We’re making progress and we are getting there but we have to keep at it after lunch. When I am undecided we go ahead and pack it into one of the small boxes and it will be stored in the pod until the house is finished at which time we can decide whether to donate or keep. At least it will be ready to go and labeled and easier to donate. We did make some good decisions this morning about the big furniture and we are going to let of go more pieces than we had initially thought. We think we want to splurge on a nice new Arizona leather living room set when it’s done. By the time we would reupholster a lot of this stuff, it would cost us a great deal and it wouldn’t be as comfortable as what we have in mind. That will be about the only new furniture we will need.
So, I tried to see how I found the Anne Heche movie called One Christmas Eve. I believe I was just scrolling down the guide when it popped up as one of the Xfinity stream channels. Also, I often go to the Xfinity app and look for the Christmas movies because there are many free ones there. When you click the Xfinity button on your remote and either look on demand or over on your apps button, you will find holiday movies. Ann, we have not eaten in a restaurant since COVID either. What we have done takeout fairly often.
Off to have lunch and I’ll write more later.

Om my Sue. I shall keep DGS in my prayers. Do keep us posted.
Lol perfect day for that meal and the pot roast can be done tomorrow.
Yikes is right. Praying it's an easy fix.
It's still snowing out there. Mother Nature is doing it up big 😇

Judy sorry for you rain. Me? I'd rather the snow LOL. Rain is just...too...wet You and DH are making strides. A lot of work for sure. Don't blame you for going for a salad for lunch. Easy peasy comes in handy right about now. Nice that you are going to get new furniture rather than going the upholstery route. That can get pricey from what I'm told. A friend of mine did that and wasn't happy with the work at all. I am so enjoying this laid back day. Will try to CBL...if not, see y'all in the a.m.

Good news on the home front: DH spent some quality time with our washer and before too long I heard the very welcome sound of it spinning! He said he checked 'this & that' and after he had dipped most of the water out of it a little bit at a time and when he moved it and it clunked, he heard it start spinning! Since there were several things it COULD have been, he was glad it started up on its own. It took a while to refill it and rinse the clothes that were in there, and wait for them to spin. They are in the dryer now. Meanwhile, I had a small load waiting, so DH put them in and tried what he though was the fix for the problem (at least temporarily) in that the latch on the door was not making good contact. When he pressed on it, we heard an audible "click" and it began spinning. Such a small, simple thing - but at least for the time being it is working. It washed, spun, rinsed and spun the small load with no help from either one of us. I have been known to use a laundromat in the past when I had too many loads, or too-large loads, etc. but with this pandemic I would be terrified to have to go to one!
After hearing that DGS had contracted COVID, I found out that my neighbor's BF also has it. I had noticed that he hadn't been over all week but more importantly I hadn't seen her outside nor has her car been moved (it set for several days with snow on it). So I texted her to see how she was and she said she was fine - but her BF hadn't been over and wouldn't be because he had contracted COVID (confirmed by testing at work). That was news of two new cases just today among people we know. It is getting more and more scary!!
I had already showered and dried my hair and dressed in sweats (with a Christmas sweatshirt) before the washer decided it needed DH's undivided attention. I brought up the entire Thanksgiving feast from the downstairs freezer and have it ready to warm up for an early supper. We had red grapes (and DH a cheese stick) for lunch. I think we are at a good resting place now and I will go read while DH is watching football with the Christmas tree lights.
BBL.

Wow Sue. So sorry for the additional COVID cases.
On a happier note that is awesome that DH got the washer to spin. I don't blame you for not wanting to go to a laundromat.
Still snowing here. So relaxing watching it come down.

Hello friends!
Sue - I can empathize with your washer problem since mine in the not-too-distant past. How nice to have a handy husband who can fix things! My DH can do a lot, but appliances are not in his repertoire. Sorry to hear about DGS. He's on the prayer list!
Ann - I had to laugh at your comment about rain being "too wet". You are right, but I'd rather drive in rain, than snow. After a winter visit to MI, I am always glad I live in the south, lol. The snow is beautiful, but such a mess when tracked indoors. I do enjoy watching it fall and beautify the outdoors. Hope there's nothing seriously wrong with Miss LuLa!
Judy - It sounds like you and DH are making great progress with the packing. The video of your friend's daughter was so cute and what a beautiful voice!
I slept well last night and had time to enjoy breakfast and coffee before DD1 arrived with Jude and one of his friends who also needed service hours in tow. They vacuumed the whole church, cleaned out the vacuum canisters, replenished the prayer candles, weeded flower beds and used a blower to clean all the walkways, steps, etc. I sat and read the paper. The only problem was I left the house without a sweatshirt and I got a little chilly in just my shirtsleeves. While we were working, DD cut DH's hair, which was getting quite shaggy again. After I got home, Debbie sent a text saying she was home and ready to walk, so we did our 3 miles. Then, I climbed in the lazy boy and haven't moved much since.
Breakfast was an almond flour muffin with a boiled egg. Lunch was leftover turkey salad and a cup of turkey sausage gumbo without rice, since I had none cooked. Dinner will be sliced beef au jus over baked potato with beets and broccoli as sides. I just splurged on a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. DH was making orange pepper jelly and had a little juice leftover. I figure some extra vitamin C might be a good idea.
DD told me today that another hospice nurse has tested positive for CV, in addition to my neighbor. Since there are only 3 full-time nurses and one PRN one, this will put them in a bind. To make matters worse, their supervisor, who could normally help out, just had surgery for a pinched nerve in her neck and is on sick leave. I'm not sure how this will all work out. I hope and pray DD doesn't get it!
Have a nice evening and a good night's rest!

LOL Pam! I knew someone would like the comment that rain is just too wet I guess it's all in what you are used to. I now have the luxury of not having to deal with snow so I can sit back and enjoy it. Carl was very grateful that his appointment with the VA was yesterday and not today. He would have called ahead of time to see if they were even seeing patients....that part worked out well. OMG I am so sorry to hear about what is happening in hospice. Praying that DD stays safe. Carl is out snow blowing. He does a few of our neighbor's driveways. Not sure how many. I wanted him to wait till tomorrow, but he wouldn't hear of it. I can see his point, as if there were an emergency they need to be able to get out. Happy to say that I finished my book I sat and read with instrumental Christmas music playing via Alexa. It was a very laid back day. Now I'm going to start another one that I borrowed from the library. It's another Barbara series...something to do with FBI lol....the title escapes me. Sweet dreams...............
