Good morning all. Slept well. Could have been longer but still woke up refreshed. Today I shall hang out with miss LuLa while Carl goes to the surgeon for his consult. I will heat up the rest of the pot roast for supper. It was delicious the first time around
Perhaps I'll get more reading done today as well as making a few 'fun phone calls' to friends across the miles.
Wishing all a wonderful OP Monday and will CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday! We have a grey, dreary day out the window, which makes me glad that I am inside! I have a few minutes before my Zoom meeting. We are doing a gingerbread man activity for small group today which should be interesting.
Ann ~ We also changed our menu last night. We were watching TV and saw a pizza commercial that happened to appeal to both of us. We created our own Cheeseburger Pizza (which we decided was just OK) but we did enjoy having the option of choices. I called in the order while DH was gone to Kroger for f/v and even chopped a salad.
Judy ~ You and your DH did a TON of work! I am like you in that I hate to move! The move to here wasn’t too bad, because the condo came with all appliances, so we didn’t have any of those to move. But we had been in the apartment for 7+ years so there was a lot of accumulated “stuff”.
Pam ~ I had to LOL because your Sunday evening plans were exactly the same as mine. I watched 60 minutes, then Dolly Parton and then went to bed. I do so much better when I stick to a schedule sleep-wise. Glad you got to be ‘in touch’ with your MI gang! In regards DL renewal, we can renew once via mail and mine was last time (four years ago). Then they want an update and new photo – which is this time. The photo on my current license was taken 8 years ago, so I guess that makes sense. DH has the gold star on his license, but doesn’t remember how or why he got it. He renewed his DL in June and I’m sure he went there because he also renewed his handicapped parking hanger. But, I’m with you, I will definitely take an extra piece of ID and get the REAL ID and be done with it. I downsized our passports last time to passport cards, just so we could go back and forth to Canada (which we did for Retrouvaille) but if the REAL ID does the same thing, then I won't have to renew our passport cards.
I have had my FF Greek yogurt & blackberries w/F1 for breakfast. I will have a bowl of soup for lunch (I have one remaining turkey noodle and one veggie/bean) and the plan is to have the leftover Venison Chili Mac for supper. I finished my book yesterday and already picked out a new one. I always have several Christmas books in my library for the holiday season, and I have started on them and they do keep me in a holiday frame of mind.
Our current ban on indoor dining, bars, etc., expires tomorrow and there is a lot of unrest about it and threats, etc. I think I am more weary of all that than even having to stay in. I seem to be more able to deal with the pandemic than some of my fellow citizens who annoy me to no end. We had to LOL the other night, because there was a PSA on TV about the delivery carriers being overwhelmed (so please don't ship) and then a reminder to stay away from malls and stores and big box stores due to the virus (so please don't shop). I'm not sure what the other option would be?<LOL>
Time for me to get to school. BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue LOL to the pizza commercial. I am not fond of meat on pizza. If I have sausage, I prefer to have it on the side. I know, sounds strange but works for us. It is nice to be flexible with meals. Keeps them interesting. Enjoy your zoom meeting I had to LOL as I also not sure about that 'other option' I decided against walking with Carl and LuLa. It's dry out there on the roads, but still pretty slick in some areas. I do NOT need an invitation to fall LOL...so I'll just get creative and walk in the house. LuLa continues to be doing well for which we are most grateful. I'll be home with her again today. No use in me going with DH for his appointment as I won't be able to go in with him, and I won't do well walking around Walmart all that time. He offered to stop and pick up what we need. I am cleaning the IP with vinegar and lemon juice and have the smaller one loaded with the rest of the pot roast. That will be a quick and easy supper. I spoke to my friend in Canada already. We had a nice chat. Next on my list is my dear friend that worked for me at City Hall and then I'll give my sister Judy a ring. Rest of the day I plan on reading and just listening to Christmas music via Alexa. Waving and wishing all a wonderful Monday

Hey all,
Monday already and good to read your notes. I had every intention of watching Dolly and then heading to bed, but my DD and DGD in CA called and wanted to Facetime for a while which was fun. DGD is so excited about the holidays, their French bulldog and she also wanted to demonstrate a little makeup kit she received as an early Christmas gift. She is such a girly girl - like her mother. We all love makeup but I haven't worn much lately. LOL I think my stuff will be expired by the time we are all out without masks. Oh well, small worries in the big scheme.
So, after my chat with DD and DGD, my adopted daughter (my hairstylist) and her sweet son called to chat. We talked a long time. She is concerned because the person who rents a booth in her shop has come into contact with COVID. Cortney is SO careful and so super conscious of cleanliness and keeping herself, her clients and her family safe. She decided she needs to close until her the other stylist's test results come in. She just needed reassurance. I told her I absolutely agree! The other stylist is also very careful and was masked around her father (the one with covid) but you never know. This horrible "naughty" (as my DGD calls it) COVID is affecting more and more people we know personally.
Anyway, after two long and enjoyable virtual visits, it was after 11:30 when I went to bed and 12:30 when I fell asleep. I did sleep till 8 so that's good.
Ann, I hope Carl had a successful doctor visit. I'm glad you stayed home. I avoid all stores if I can help it. I had to laugh, though, at Sue's comment about them telling us not to ship due to delivery of vaccines, etc. AND to stay out of the stores. Maybe there really is a Santa who will magically drop gifts from the air! lol
Today i have an appointment with the insurance agency and I need to go in person and another appointment with the clean out crew in an hour. Plus, I am busy with work and helping DD out with some profit and loss statements for her business. She and her new attorney go to a settlement conference on Thursday. Her new attorney is eager to speak to the CA bar. He is astounded at how little the "old" crook did for us and he told DD that he only charges that much in multi-million dollar divorces. After hearing that, I truly pray that we get some restitution. She was HORRIBLE in hindsight. Just a con artist.
Off to the races.....bkfst was two frozen waffles with maple syrup! Lunch will be soup and a half a sandwich. Dinner is pork chops to use up from the freezer and baby potatoes and some frozen veggies from the freezer! My goal is to eat what is to try to clear the freezer as much as I can this week.

Hi All ~
Our Zoom class went well and the gingerbread experiment was interesting. She gave everyone TWO so that we could use one for the experiment (in a glass of water) and still have one to eat. Now you know why I love Preschool??
I finished up and decided I really was spending too much time indoors, so I bundled up (in my 30 dg weather) and donned a hat and gloves and took myself out for a walk! I knew it had been too long when my iPod battery was low (from sitting and waiting). It is on the charger now. I came home and had veggie/bean soup and half of a Honey Crisp apple and the other gingerbread man (YUM!).
My DH's repair job on my washer on Saturday did the trick! In fact, it is running quieter than it was before it quit running altogether <LOL> As long as it washes and spins and rinses and spins, I'm a happy camper! I did his work clothes today and it was an absolute treat.
Ann ~ Good for you for catching up with others via phone. That is so important - and even more so this year!! I checked in on DGS yesterday and he seems to know how to take care of himself. He said he still has fever and cough and body aches.... but no problem with breathing (so no need to go to the hospital). He is loaded up with supplements (zinc, Vit C and D and electrolytes) and staying well hydrated. I do hope Carl has a good doctor's report.
Judy ~ You got to do your share of "reach out and touch someone" as well. I did most of mine via text over the weekend, but felt like I was in touch. I totally agree with you about the salon closing (temporarily). I wish more places would do that - but I think the fear of the virus has been overshadowed by the fear of financial loss (which I also fully understand). However, if more people would do what she is doing, it may help stop the community spread.
I have done everything I intend to do today and supper is ready to just rewarm. Our Governor is holding a press conference in about half an hour and I fear it will be (to many) bad news that she is not going to reopen the indoor dining or gyms, etc. Dining is tricky, because so many of them relied on outdoor seating during the summer, but now that it is cold that isn't an option. Even if they did reopen, we wouldn't feel comfortable going at this time anyway.
DH just called and told me that he is taking his truck in to have some repair work, and the guy who's doing it is going to bring him home. Works for me, since he lives about half an hour away. Then he can drive my car tomorrow and we'll retrieve his truck tomorrow evening (unless they bring it home). I am glad he is getting this done, because it is a fix of a problem he's dealt with for a while now and our weather isn't getting any better.
I will go put his clothes away and watch the news conference just to be up-to-date. I read the weekly communique from our new principal at school and she mentioned the 'return to school' for Stepanski on Jan 11th. That would surprise me greatly, but it's apparently still on the schedule. More shall be revealed ......

Judy so happy that you got to face time and chat. Such a wonderful uplifting experience I'm sure. I am a homebody at heart...that being said this is the 3rd day that I have not been out. I don't want the 'Jack Torrence' in me to surface LOL...tomorrow I think I'll take a walk to the mailbox and take it from there. Hopefully it will be better walking conditions by then. Your meals sound tasty and within points. Good job How wise of your hair stylist to close. I would do the same thing. I think I mentioned that Gladys (nail tech) is closed. She is an interpreter at a local school here in Orange MA and one of the teachers and 2 students are being tested. Her reason for closing is that a lot of her peeps are older and she doesn't want to pass anything on...that, plus the fact that she has an auto immune disease. My hat goes off to those kind of people that place others before themselves. I will surely miss her services but I fully understand. Once she is 'up and running' she will get back to her clients via phone or text message. Looking forward to that. Sue happy that you enjoyed your zoom class and cookie That is great that DH is having the vehicle fixed. You are right, the weather isn't getting any better. Better safe than sorry. Also good that he will get a ride home. Hopefully they will deliver it to you so that you don't have to make a trip. I made my phone calls and house walked during two of the three...the shorter calls LOL. I'm just in the mood to 'slack off' today as far as walking is concerned. Instead, I went through the refrigerator small freezer and large freezer. I dumped a few 'science projects' that were not labeled and I know Carl will NEVER be the wiser LOL. They are buried in the trash as I type Our pot roast is heating up nicely in the IP on crock pot mode. I cleaned out the larger IP with white vinegar and lemon juice and it's now sparkling clean and sweet smelling Then I organized canned goods and made a list of what we have an what we need. To say that I could open a soup kitchen is an understatement LOL......happy to say that we have enough to last. Very few items are needed and those will be picked up at a later date. Now I'm going to brew a cup of tea and sit and relax. I'm listening to Sirus FM 60's on 6 via Alexa. I needed a break from Christmas music LOL.....I may switch off now. Waving...and thanks for the well wishes for Carl.

This Is A Great Read....
T’was a month before Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown. The frown had begun Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Contagious and deadly, This virus spread fast, Like a wildfire that starts When fueled by gas. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s November And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. Frontline workers, Doctors and nurses, Try to save people, From riding in hearses. This virus is awful, This COVID-19. There isn’t a cure. Too early for vaccine. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, When no one will see it, No-one but me. But outside my window The snow gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas ain’t cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope. ❤️❤️❤️

Just heard from Carl and he is having both fatty tumor on his shoulder and something else on his leg removed on the 15th at 8 a.m. here in town. Both will be done with just a local so he will be able to drive. He sounded very pleased and liked the surgeon which is half the battle. I thank y'all for your well wishes and prayers.

I also got a phone call today from a nail gal in my area. Apparently when I asked my hair stylist if she knew of anyone, she only had the name of Gladys. She asked a few of her clients and they referred her to another gal. Well, she called me and I have an appointment for Monday the 14th at 10 a.m. She sounded very professional over the phone as well as friendly. She does it from her home. I am looking forward to that.

Hello dear friends!
Ann - What great news about Carl! I know you are both relieved. Cute poem and so true. You reminded me I need to make a few calls to check up on friends myself. As much as I love Christmas music, I also take breaks from it. Your nail tech is wise to err on the side of caution.
Sue - Your gingerbread activity sounds cute and I'm sure the kids loved it. I see your Governor wisely extended the CV restrictions and I'm sure some people are upset, but too bad. You are a brave woman to walk in the cold. Debbie and I are walking later to let things warm up some, lol, and we're at least 10-15 degrees warmer than you.
Judy - You can always catch the Dolly Parton special later. FT with the DGKs was MUCH more important, as were the other phone calls. Any social contact these days is a precious commodity. Since DD's new attorney is having to "pick up the pieces" maybe he will pull some weight with the CA Bar Association. We can hope, anyway!
Debbie and I walked at 8:30 this morning so I was able to get laundry going before I left. Afterwards, I had breakfast of yogurt, cantaloupe, blueberries and seeds, then headed to town to pick up groceries curbside. I still had to go into Walmart to pick up DH's Rx and a few other items that I wanted to choose rather than depend on the "pickers". Then I headed to Super 1 to get what Walmart couldn't fill, plus some wine for a Christmas gift for DD's DMIL.
I rebooted laundry when I got home and got all the groceries put away. DH was pleased that I found a sf angel food cake marked down at Super 1 and got it for him. We have some fresh strawberries which should go nicely with it. I had a ham sandwich and a small salad for lunch. In between laundry and other chores, I picked a bucket of satsumas and took them to Debbie's. She is going to NOLA tomorrow for work and can share them with her son & family.
I picked up 4 pretty poinsettias at Walmart and they look nice. Debbie & Pete, her DH, have to make a run to Home Depot and I asked her to pick up a couple larger poinsettias for me if they are reasonably priced and I will pay her for them.
Dinner tonight will be meatloaf, potatoes and carrots with sauteed zucchini on the side. I am enjoying a cup of I Love Lemon tea and waiting for the dryer to signal it's time to fold more clothes. I hope you all have a great evening!

Thanks Pam. You were a busy bee today. Your supper sounds great. I love angel food cake. Haven't had it in a long time. I shall add that to my list.
I am exhausted. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight.
Sweet dreams.

Hey all, I had a super busy day. The clean out man was here for about an hour this afternoon and he was very happy with how organized we are for his clean out with everything labeled and he said it should go smoothly. It’s funny because I feel like we’re in a big mess but he said he does not agree with that at all! So, come Thursday and Friday the contents of this house will be both hauled away and stored. Tomorrow at 9 AM the eagle storage unit arrives to be placed next to our garage. It’s 20 feet long so hopefully will store everything we need. Before my appointment with the clean out man, I was at the local insurance agency signing up for both builders risk and long-term insurance on the new house. I expect to get the binder by tomorrow. They were very cautious and taking my temperature and checking everything before they let me into the insurance agency. The customer service person even had plexiglass with a little trap door that he would pass papers through. That cracked me up. I’ve seen plenty of plexiglass but I haven’t seen all the little trap doors. After that I had to run to CVS to get Doug his special eyedrops for his Bell’s palsy dry eye syndrome. For dinner I cooked up all the pork chops in the package and ate one along with a few baby potatoes and some frozen peas. I’m not sure I’ll feel like eating more pork chops this week so will have to see. Ann, I am with you. I bury some things in the trash that I want to pitch so the DH doesn’t squawk about me throwing out food! Ha ha.
I was so warm and toasty all day and all last night and now the heat has conked off again!!! DH is beside himself worrying about me being here without central heat in this cold weather. However I have three very good space heaters and an electric blanket if I want to use it so I think I’ll be OK until he gets here on Wednesday night. I’m pretty sturdy and hearty. And it is supposed to warm up at least till the 40s and 50s so it is not like I will be sitting here in 20°. Evidently had some sort of flame sensor part that he is going to order. I don’t think either one of us will be here much more than a week longer. The gas utility was here this afternoon marking out the underground service and all we are waiting for now is the demolition permit which will be issued pending all the utility shut off notices and building permit approval. We are nearly there. Hard to believe.
I was a little sad today when the clean out guy told me how much he loved this house and it’s quaintness. It does have a very special charm but unfortunately its best days for livability are behind it. DH and I are just getting too old to have to worry about all of its issues. I’m sure Ill be crying hard when the wrecking ball is here. Not sure if I can watch. So many memories. I’m getting upset right now just thinking about it so I better not start weeping now. 😢😭. It’s just a building. Once it is all done, I know that we will think it’s the best thing we ever did.
no signs of any coyotes today thank God. Now I have an air horn, a bell, a flashlight in case I have to go out at all at night and a big rock in my pocket. That ought to do it. I think the airhorn would scare anyone. DH said that if I do encounter the coyotes and I blow the air horn, they will run and tell themselves they never want to run into that lady and those two little dogs again!
We walked the beach tonight right before it got dark and then we went around the circle and it was fun to look at all the Christmas lights at the neighbors have up. It’s so pretty to see from the beach. It’s a very friendly neighborhood with nice people and they actually come to the door when they see me walk by and poke their heads out to say hello and ask me how the house project is coming along. This is a neighborhood where people do know your business but they are all caring and good people and not nosy types. There really is not a gossip among the group. We have a couple neighbors that no one really loves but they’re tolerable and not trouble overall. You know how it goes.
I’m off to read my book and maybe watch a little more of The Crown. I’m catching up and I’m now into the seasons with Diana. What a lonely existence she led in that palace with an absentee husband and she was such a young and naïve person. I’m sure she had no clue what she was getting into - poor Diana.
Ann, I’m really glad that Carl will be having those lumps removed soon and that he likes the surgeon. I don’t blame you for avoiding the big stores right now. I didn’t even want to go into CVS! I loved your poem and thanks for sharing it!
Pam, Kudos to you for getting out to walk with Debbie. It’s so much nicer when you have someone to walk with isn’t it? Your dinner sounded delicious and I’m sure those poinsettias are very pretty. Glad you had some fun FaceTime with your grandchildren in Michigan as well. What would we do without FaceTime? We’d be reduced to a few minutes on the phone and little kids never know what to say. Today Sophie was demonstrating her hula hoop in a California video to me. DD found a great neighbor in the hills near her who offered the use of her beautiful outdoor porch as a study area for the virtual work. DD said they got so much more done without the distractions of having the daycare going on and the doorbell ringing all day. She said Sophie is reading really well now and enjoys the one on one with her mom. I think that they will be using this outdoor space for a few hours a day for school work from now on. The weather is so beautiful and sunny and warm so why not? Well I have rambled on long enough and I will let you all go for the evening.
More tomorrow and sleep well everyone.
