NO EXCUSES
* This is a daily thread for those who want to live by the philosophy that you CAN be ON PLAN EVERY DAY, whether you are doing SFT or counting points for ALL foods! * You aren't doing this to brag; you are doing it for YOU! Because YOU are WORTH IT and because WW has made this totally DOABLE! * WW gives you a lot of freedom and a LOT of options that make it quite possible to live this lifestyle EVERY DAY. * You know that this philosophy keeps you on the straight and narrow. If you give yourself an excuse to go off plan today, there will ALWAYS be another excuse tomorrow. * SO, there are NO EXCUSES!!! * This is your LIFESTYLE and it is a lifestyle you enjoy and you live it daily. * Hopefully your participation here will not only inspire YOU but will inspire OTHERS too! YES, you CAN be ON PROGRAM EVERY DAY.

QUESTION: This year I found online a 365 day thing to copy and paste to focus our discussion. I can use it again next year (information rarely changes) or we can leave it more free-form and perhaps have affirmations or positive quotes or something. Any thoughts or ideas?

Chilled Out? Warm Up!
Do you need to eat more to keep warm? That’s a tempting rationalization. But if your daily routine doesn’t change, you don’t need more calories. True, your body uses energy to stay warm. But you burn extra calories only if your body temperature drops enough to make you shiver.
That said, can food or drink take your chill away?
What works: Mom knew: a hot cup of cocoa, mulled cider, or a hearty bowl of chowder or chili. In fact, any hot food helps warm you from the inside out. And eating itself has a “heat-making” effect, as metabolism speeds up from energy released during digestion. That may be why your brain signals hunger when your body temperature drops.
What doesn’t:Brandy or other alcoholic drinks tend to increase the body’s heat loss, which makes you more susceptible to cold. Stay warm this winter. • Outdoors, keep your water bottle inside your parka. Drinking icy water chills your stomach and your whole body. • Carry a snack for winter activity. If you’re chilled, dried fruit or granola cookies may stoke your furnace. • Enjoy warm drinks: simmered cranberry-apple juice with a cinnamon stick, or hot cocoa topped with a small scoop of praline frozen yogurt.

It has been a long day. I drove hubby and daughter to Beirut and back (5 hours driving) and the traffic was horrible. I read that 700,000 people have flights into Beirut for the holidays....think they were ALL on the road. We have my daughter's suitcase, made a quick chili for dinner and she is unpacking. I will head upstairs soon to spend time with her.
Sorry I was late today - no internet in the morning and a long day - just back now.

Thanks for posting! figured you were busy busy busy with DD. I sometimes anecdotally do get warmer after eating some meals. Not sure why exactly.
Oh and I don't drink icy water or icy electrolyte while cycling in winter. Good point. I use cool tap water and it probably does get a bit cooler as I ride. I just don't put in the ice cubes etc or want them. Hot drinks are nice but so far haven't carried them on my bike. I have carried hot drinks for x.c. skiing on Mt Hood at times though.
