This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. **************************************** National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.
I saw a flamingo Christmas tree sweater and I liked it. š I really donāt wear sweaters much anymore but I do wear Christmas socks. Love holiday socks. My DM gifted me with Christmas, Halloween, and Valentineās Day socks that I still have. I also have 4th of July socks. Now if I could just find Thanksgiving socks...

How did the bauble know that she was addicted to Christmas? Sheād been hooked on Christmas trees all her life.
What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire? Frostbite!
Why is it getting harder to buy Advent calendars? Their days are numbered!

Thanks for the start, Chele. I have Christmas sweaters and vests but I don't consider any of them ugly. I probably mentioned that in the 90s I worked in an office where all the women dressed festively and I still have some of those outfits. I used to have a lot more. I also have lots of holiday socks. I don't think I have Thanksgiving ones either. Somebody has to make them. Loved the Christmas humor. Here are a few of my favorites (Linda, feel free to ignore):
Where Santa and the reindeer stop for Christmas Eve lattes? Star-bucks
What type of music do Santa's elves prefer? Wrap
What is a snowman's favorite breakfast? Ice Krispies.
Anyway, what are you and Iggy up to today and what are you planning for the weekend? Dale's last present arrived a little while ago. We have gotten deliveries today from FedEx and UPS, and we still are expecting at least one package USPS. Nobody delivers to the front porch anymore so that means a trip up the driveway. Lots of steps today. At least it's sunny, even if it's barely into the 40s.
Kathy, we may not get to see the ACC championship game between Clemson and ND because it's on ABC, one of the stations we currently don't have. If our wi-fi comes back, we may be able to watch it online.
How was the commute today, Liz? I hope things were on time and walking to the building wasn't too difficult. I hope Zoe cut you a break and didn't need to go out in the middle of the night.
Linda, DSIL's yard looks pretty--in the photo. Wouldn't want to look out and see it up close though. Did you sleep better last night? I finished watching Season 4 of The Crown. Diana definitely married into the wrong family. Charles never did give up Camilla, and that didn't help matters. She did get international recognition but it eventually cost her her life. They do focus a lot on her bulimia in some of the later episodes.
Becky, you were colder than we were yesterday morning. Hope it was warmer today. We used to watch baseball on WGN, so it's not a problem now but will be if they don't get things resolved by April. I'm glad the arm is feeling better and I hope it will stay that way. You are defintely getting in the miles right now. I hope your leg will loosen up some as it gets accustomed to the miles. We got an email from the internet company and they are trying to resolve our loss of service. Hopefully we'll be back in business by this evening if they can figure out what's going on.
Do they do a good job keeping your snowy roads cleared, Denise? How are things in your hospital?
We got a not-so-pleasant surprise last night. Arya kept scratching a place on her shoulder and when I investigated, I found a rather large tick. It looked different than the ticks we have here, which are deer ticks. This looked like a brown dog tick (aka kennel tick), so we're guessing she picked it up at the vet last week while she was crated near other dogs in crates, so she has had it for a while. Dale was able to completely remove it, including the head. Now we just have to keep on the lookout for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever symptoms. I spent a little time in one of my mushroom growing areas and picked about 1/2 lb. They were a bit frozen, so I'll probably cook them up for dinner.

Karen, I hope Arya is alright. Did you mention it to the vetās office? Loved the Christmas jokes. I am a sucker for jokes like that. Good news on receiving your packages. Have you received email notice from USPS informed delivery that mail may be slow due to staffing issues related to COVID-19? I have received it two days in a row. I am sure I would love your sweaters and vests, because I like holiday wear. If I fi d Thanksgiving socks Iāll send you a pair.
I woke up early and made a pot of vegetable soup and a batch of biscuits. Then I got on the recumbent bike and tried some interval speed ups and slow downs. The foot felt pretty good today during that. I then did my stretches. Next was sheets and towels in the laundry.Iggy was upstairs vacuuming and putting on fresh sheets. I gifted Iggy a Kitchenaid stand mixer 20 years ago with a meat grinding attachment. I picked up a chuck roast at Kroger because they had a fantastic markdown and today, after 20 years, he used the attachment for the first time to grind the roast. Ah, retirement.

Thanks for the start Chele. I have never owned an ugly Christmas sweater. LOL on no more jokes. They are pretty bad but who doesn't like a bad joke?
Karen This time I will groan for Linda. LOL. Our low this morning was 26 but the sun came out and warmed up nicely in a hurry. On the way home from my morning walk the afternoon gusty wind they were talking about made it something after 9:30. The weather guesser gets the wind right just not the timing. He said tonight late we will have fog and drizzle. Then it may grow up into a shower. He didn't say it will grown into a shower. He said grow up. I don't know what he was thinking about. I hate we lost NBC because Alex Trebek's last episode is supposed to air on Christmas Day. I'm glad Dale was able to remove all of the tick including the head.
Chele I'm glad Iggy finally got to use the attachment after 20 years.

Chele, thanks for the start and the groans! It's been a long time since I bought a new sweater, but mine don't get much wear. I do have some holiday socks, but not Thanksgiving either. I'm sure someone out there sells some!
Karen, I thought people in Florida were the only ones that still had sweaters from the 90s. I hope they get the ABC situation straightened out soon. That's not right that you can't watch one of the major networks. Oh no on Arya! I hope she doesn't develop any symptoms.
Waving to everyone. Have a good evening.

Groans are appreciation when it comes to puns....which I am good at. Two of us kept doing them one summer at school on an extra pay project until our lives were threatened!
Hope Arya is ok. You would think vet would be safe.
Changed beds and did five loads of laundry...been not doing much, just hibernating. Last flannel sheet drying.
Worked my way through house picking up clutter and stuff sitting around from rearranging with flooring...got it down to kitchen to go. It is amazing how little likes accumulate.
Kind of tired again. I think just hearing about the COVID, cyber attack, and latest mean spirited politicking in Senate took away my energy . Dog will just get a little holiday light stroll after supper.

We are right behind you and a major hospital nearby just got a refrigerated truck for morgue overflow.
I hope letting this pandemic grow and the election fraud crap was not how Trump decided to hide the Russian huge hack that he enabled by getting rid of the job of head of cyber security May 2018 and then using their military budget for his damned wall. But I could believe it, they own him financially. Not his family dying or holed up in some little apartment or about to be evicted with no job and Senate refusing to fund unemployment.
FyI Chele, you have one mean SOB in the house on subject of people needing help....long way to go to beat three fools from Az though
