Thanks, Kathy. Been busy with some life issues and not in the mood to hang out in forums but thought I would stop in and see what was going on. Good thing I did, too---I was directed here from the old/new board that apparently went down in flames for some reason. I love your "imperfect" working of a program, no matter what program we choose. There are going to be days when we are spinning and grinning and thinking "We got this---we finally got this!!" and then we turn around, succumb to a slab of cheesecake or way too much of a good thing and look at ourselves as consummate failures and continue to compound the damage, just because. Not doing that anymore. I aim for my target calorie max and if I go over, so be it. I am also doing, partially, a planned food program that I did years ago and with great success. Not depending on it for every meal but using it when I feel that I can't depend on myself to rein in the portions. I have been in sort of a food free-fall (and free-for-all) since September and it was not good. Got my act together (rather raggedy, but as together as I can manage right now) and started tracking and being mindful last week. Down 6.4 pounds. Sure, it's mostly water, but it's a nice kick in the pants for the New Year. Onward and downward!

Dawn, I spent too many years thinking I had to do this perfectly to be successful, and then *having* to quit when I wasn't. I accept that I still make some poor choices, that I rarely stay within my points and just keep going. I actually never think *I got this* (hate that expression frankly!) because I failed so many times and then it was just a reason to beat myself up. But, as time has passed I do view it as a *notch in my belt* everytime I make a good choice and because I didn't quit, the habits did start to change. Sorry you've had some difficulties, but glad you're here now!

fullmahina, onward and downward is a great phrase. I seem to be one of the few that SP seemed to click and I think it was because of my sugar addiction. I have done all the WW programs, this seemed to click. Guess everyone has to find what works for them. But like Kathy, I have to be around like people!

Very interesting discussion. I'm a meetings member who eats from the simply filling list but do track using SP. Here in Denver last fall they had an experiment where they tested our metabolism and I was encouraged to cut back my daily points. This has made a difference for me. I'm planning to stay at that range and keep doing what I know works.

My first and only time in WW started January 2012. I was dismayed at the overwhelming number of repeaters in the online groups and in my meeting. One woman joked about making donations to WW. I determined to get it right once and for all. I made Lifetime 3 months later, in April 2012. I kept going to weekly meetings and tracking daily for a year. Then I began weighing in once a month and stopped tracking. Started gaining😮 I resumed tracking and attending weekly meetings ASAP. I reversed the gaining and avoided having to pay. A year later, I was confident enough to weigh in only once a month but I did not stop tracking!! In April 2017, I will have 5 years successful Lifetime. I am grateful and happy to be a WWer😊 Tracking daily, staying within my points, planning my meals, exercising daily, getting and giving support.

pamthomas46 How did they test your metabolism? And who encouraged you to cut back on your points, someone with WW? I would like to do that too because I suspect I have a "slower" metabolism. If I ate 36 SP a day, which is my allotment because I'm on maintenance, I would gain weight. I "only" need about 1200 calories a day which I can sometimes hit at 30 SP and other days at 28 SP. I usually aim at 28-30 but I'm getting interested in SFT.

Linda, WW brought in equipment and scheduled time slots for those who signed up. The tester, a WW leader, then went over the results with me. Because I'm older and not able to be as active, I wasn't surprised. Just glad that my DPs seem to be more realistic. Hope that answers your questions. I haven't heard that WW was going to expand the experiment.

pamthomas46 How interesting. Thank you for the information. Do you mind telling me how many DP they gave you based on the information?

For those of you who have given up on meetings, I hope you return. Meetings aren't only about what you get, they are also about what you give. Lifetime members (at goal or not) especially are a treasure of knowledge. Even if you only go occasionally, please consider stopping by. Lots of people can benefit from what you all know. I know I do. ETA: I forgot to post the link to an EBay auction showing the new program materials: www.ebay.com/itm/201767266725

I'm not interested in being the person complaining in meetings and I could tell I couldn't be enthusiastic about the new program. I plan on staying on Tuesday and seeing what is going on; there is always the chance that some leader might hook me again.

girlyfied & pbnj Yes, I agree, the ebay listing has been removed. Guess I'll go to my meeting this week and see what's new for 2017.

Linda, I had 30 DPs. They recommended 26. I was nervous losing 4 points, but it has worked for me.

I have done online only for over 4 yrs now.It has taken me that long to get to goal.I had a lot of weight to lose.I started with PP and that is how I lost most of my weight.I don't go to meetings b/c there are no meetings close enough for me to attend. When SP came out I was resistant for the first month b/c I was losing much slower then after a couple of months I started losing at about the same rate I did on PP.I am also in the minority with lmenglish b/c I really like SP now.I also agree with linda72.I think anymore than 1200-1250 calories and I wouldn't lose.In fact I have never had any luck with counting calories but sometimes do so to keep up with my carbs.I very rarely get in all my SP but try to get in 26-28.I know if I were to eat 36 a day I would gain. That is the amount of PP I got when I was at my highest weight so there's no way I can do that.I find that eating healthy has become a way of life with me and something I can sustain the rest of my life.I don't know if I would go back to meetings if there were a closer one though after doing online only for so long. It's workable for me and it's still worth the price to me.

pamthomas46 I have double tracked occasionally this past year with MFP and decided 26-28 DP is better for me so that I can maintain. I thought there was something wrong with me going against WW but these points usually work out to about 1100 calories/day. I am 67 and short so this works better for me. Thank you for the information.
