This is something from my WW leaders post to her FB group about the new materials (I heard there is no change to SP.)
“Weight loss happens from the neck up and shows up from the neck down.” The three pillars of Weight Watchers – Food, Fitness and Mindset Shift – help you move from the old cycle of diet and deprivation into a journey toward a new and healthy lifestyle.
This week’s meeting is a Beyond the Scale refresher course, with a complete set of new program material for 2017 that takes your super-successful plan to a new level. No worries -- we’re not messing with SmartPoints. A proven 15% greater loss for new members proves that SmartPoints is the right approach for all your food decisions. (Sigh of relief!)
Make the most of this opportunity to push the Re-Start Button! Think about the stumbling blocks you’ve encountered lately. We’ll talk them over and see what answers we can find. For example: Food … Sick of the same-old/same-old meals you’ve been eating every day because they’re easy and you know the SmartPoints? Your new “Eat Better” book is loaded with fresh ideas.
Fitness … Feel like you’re stuck in your chair all day? Not good. Your “Move More” book gives you some realistic ways to get up off your derrière, even during the busiest day.
Mindset … Sometimes, loving yourself is easier said than done. Your “Shift your Mindset” book shows you a simple technique to help you start treating yourself like a beloved friend. That something we all need, right?

I assume the 3 books she mentions is what we'll get out our first January meeting. I'll be interested to read them. Thanks for the update.

Had fun reading this thread. Haven't "seen" some of you since the boards on the website died. You all are a great bunch of people, especially to have around for support and to get knowledge.
At the meeting on 12/26, I celebrated nine years at goal although this holiday season and my cranky body are pushing the issue right now. Made a big point about always coming to the meetings no matter what, just don't break that cord. You need it for support. I am lucky I have a very knowledgeable professional leader. Her meetings are worth your time and the topics and issues have gotten better over the years. And yes, there are getting more Beck-ish.
I don't have the right type of smart phone so I do miss the connection to the members on the website and am unhappy about the situation and am working on accepting that WW will never do anything about it. Boo! on them they'll miss my wisdom, support, and constant harping about maintenance.

For those of you who have given up on meetings, I hope you return. Meetings aren't only about what you get, they are also about what you give. Lifetime members (at goal or not) especially are a treasure of knowledge. Even if you only go occasionally, please consider stopping by. Lots of people can benefit from what you all know. I know I do. ETA: I forgot to post the link to an EBay auction showing the new program materials: www.ebay.com/itm/201767266725 Listing has been removed? girlyfied & pbnj Yes, I agree, the ebay listing has been removed. Guess I'll go to my meeting this week and see what's new for 2017. Sorry about that. I see WW has updated the plan section with the online version of the new materials: www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/plan-basics The new materials are like that page except in paper form. I don't get mine until Thursdsy, but hopefully someone posts more details before then.

pamthomas46 How did they test your metabolism? And who encouraged you to cut back on your points, someone with WW? I would like to do that too because I suspect I have a "slower" metabolism. If I ate 36 SP a day, which is my allotment because I'm on maintenance, I would gain weight. I "only" need about 1200 calories a day which I can sometimes hit at 30 SP and other days at 28 SP. I usually aim at 28-30 but I'm getting interested in SFT. I didn't have my metabolism checked at Weight Watchers, but I did go and have it checked at a sports medicine clinic. Basically I blew into a machine for quite a while. I have a picture of the testing at this blog post of mine, along with a description of the testing. It was definitely worth it. Using a standard RMR (resting metabolic rate) formula, Fitbit said my RMR was 1224. That is basically my metabolism if I did nothing all day and just laid in bed. However, the actual testing found that my RMR was 1120! Part of the difference is that most RMR calculators are based upon size and age. However, body fat is a factor as well. I am skinny fat - normal weight, high body fat. So, I burn fewer calories than someone with less body fat. There is an RMR calculator (Katch McArdle) which is based on body fat if you know yours. That calculator was more accurate for me, but still was not the same as the machine showed me. This was all really important to me since I realized Fitbit's calorie burn rate was based upon bad RMR data. Fitbit doesn't let you directly enter an alternative RMR. However, I went in and adjusted my height settings in Fitbit until I got an RMR that was correct. Linda, I had 30 DPs. They recommended 26. I was nervous losing 4 points, but it has worked for me. That is really interesting that they would do that. I think that would be a great thing to do. I suspect I would do better on 26 daily points.

Kitty Very interesting post. I also think my RMR would be lower than the average. I suspect I have more fat even though I'm in a "normal" weight range. I'm 67 and short and I never could understand how WW would give me the same DPs as someone who was 30 and 5'10". I aim for 28 DP every day but if I come in at 26 for the day I don't worry about it (or eat 2 more points in the evening just to come out even)

I double track points and calories (I do that on MFP). So if my calories are OK and I am below 30 I'm fine with it.

Despite being told in December that existing members would not be receiving the 2017 materials (since the plan isn’t changing), we were handed rubber-banded packs of the new materials this morning.
They consist of four saddle-stitched booklets with the following titles:
- Meet Your Plan
- Eat Better
- Move More
- Shift Your Mindset
There is also a new weigh-in record book, similar to last year’s but in green instead of burnt orange. It has subtle changes, such as there being a place to write in your name on the front cover, a place inside to enter the date you joined and your starting weight, and the fact that Bravo stickers get pasted into the week’s space with a place to comment on what you changed (our leader said Bravos are given for making a change).
New members apparently get the first two booklets on their first day, then the other two booklets in their 4th and 5th weeks.
The “pocket guide” appears to be a thing of the past. The Meet Your Plan booket contains a list of the too 100 foods. Those without smartphones or browser access will likely have to buy the new combined foods & restaurant guide.

I got the new information today at my WW meeting. I don't think there are any major changes and not any to the food part of the program. That works for me since the Smart Points has been successful in my case.

I like the new program materials. Very clear cut and nicely put together. I liked the sample menus for meals and daily menus. I haven't looked at the new weigh in book thoroughly yet. I liked the focus on mindset. Most of the meeting was focused on mindset toward program- how to get over thoughts and feelings of deprivation, that this is too restrictive, etc. Pretty much what I needed. I also noticed the lack of bravos, too. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

gailruu ?!? I am confused? Ask away! That is why we created these boards, so everyone would still have a place to ask questions. There are tons of current/former WW employees here in addition to the very knowledgeable members. Honestly I would be shocked if there was a question the collective hive can't answer. That is why I am happy I found this board. Right now what is frustrating me with Connect is that I can't unfollow and I accidentally clicked "follow" on some that were not what I wanted.

You can unfollow someone. Just click follow again until the check mark comes off. This works on my smartphone which has an excessively sensitive screen.
