WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

I had my root canal done yesterday afternoon. I was terrified going in, but following the advice of a friend, decided I’d be ok without the nitrous oxide. The thought of using that scared me too. I was shocked at how “easy” it was! In previous procedures I’ve had to either hold my mouth open or had uncomfortable clamps keeping it open, and left with half my face numb, but not yesterday. The way he isolated the tooth from the rest of my mouth and kept my mouth open was fairly comfortable, and I was able to swallow.
I”ve been fasting everyday this week until at least 12:45, some days until 2:00. I was sugar free until yesterday, when I decided to treat myself to some grape jam on my peanut butter wrap. Pure comfort food. I had French onion soup for dinner and there was a gram of added sugar in that.
Kathy, I’m sorry about your daughter, but glad that you’re working with Mayo Clinic doctors. Isn’t it wonderful having good medical care nearby? We have the Cleveland Clinic and am grateful for it. Re: news, ugh. I also get a good bit of news from Twitter. DH came home during the Capital attack and started provoking me about my political views and choice of news channels. He continued off and on for a couple of hours. I’m learning to ignore him. My 20 year old was especially affected by the Capital attack; he immediately made the connection to how protestors were treated this summer and said many of the rioters on Wednesday would have been dead if they’d been black. It hurts my heart.
Lori, it’s so nice that you have the time to help your mom. I know the work situation isn’t ideal, but I guess there’s a bright side to it. I made the cheesecake yesterday with cake batter extract. It’s ok, I’m not sure I’ll make it again.
Nancy, great news about the line dancing! You must have a large room to accommodate 10 ladies with social distancing. Wonderful! The social time will be good for everyone, too.
We finally have a sunny day ahead of us. The local news is reporting that we haven’t had a cloudless day with wall to wall sun since November 10. Crazy.

I’m loving the scale these days, steadily staying between 128 -130. This morning 128.4 (after Chinese food)! My average maintenance calories around 1500. I really feel moving throughout the day has been great for the scale and how I feel. When we eventually get back to working full time, I’ll have to be more mindfully of going for quick 5 minutes walks throughout the day.
Nancy, Love built bars! I’m always trying new flavors but I think the caramel brownie and the chocolate mint are my favorites. I try to stick with the lower calorie ones. I’m sure the nut ones are very tasty as well. If I have them at home, I usually have a 1/2 bar at a time, that seems to satisfy me and easy to work the calories in. If I need to grab and go, then it’s a whole bar. I like to cut a few and keep in fridge or freezer. Did you register as a customer, if yes - you’ll earn rewards toward $ offer future boxes. Between using Rakuten when shopping online (If you don’t use this, I’ll text you a link), the rewards and the coupon codes, you can’t beat the price...Well worth it...
Jan, so glad the root canal is behind you and it went so well!! You deserved the comfort food!! Your doing awesome!! Just wondering what sweetener you use for the cheesecake....
Kathy, hope your weekend is off to a good start...

C56. D1. TODAY WILL BE - On Plan, Tracked, exercise! I gained another 4 pounds this week. I am up 16# from where I want to maintain (which is above my WW goal). I literally put on 15# since the end of November when the worst of my COVID was over. I don't know if it is connected, but...
Jan - so glad the root canal went well. I always ask for nitrous and don't even use novicane (sp?) when I have tooth work.
Lori - wow! on the great stats! Way to go!
Nancy - I'm looking into the built bars. If I have the mint chocolate in the house I'm afraid I would just eat them all. That's what I did with the WW bars :-( These are "sugar" free --- am going to think about this. Yeah on the line dancing. I'm one day behind you on this cycle and plan on following you to the finish line!!!
Hi to Jane and Louise and all who follow.

Jan - yes it's a very large room, but not yet officially approved. You're doing great with the calories, protein, fiber and added sugar. So glad you survived the root canal. One less thing to worry about.
Lori - I've decided to go along with your average calorie method. I'm basing mine on 1200 calories. I usually look for something to have to bring it up to 1200. Now I'll just save the short calories for subsequent days that week and visa versa. Makes sense. I was also thinking of allowing a 300 weekly calorie amount for an extra treat or whatever during the course of each week. I don't think I registered with Built Bars but they did me an email saying I earned 30 Built Bucks so I guess that's what you mean. You may also be happy with the Built Bites since you already tend to have half a bar.
Kathy - We're side by side. I binged again last night. NO MORE!! I'm back to C113D1. When I have individually wrapped things, like the ww mini caramels, it wouldn't occur to me to have more than one on a given day. I'm sure it will be the same with the built bites. We each have to know our own limitations. Similarly if I had a mini caramel on a given day, it wouldn't occur to me to also have a built bite. I wonder if you would consider having one with a glass of FF milk. That might help keep it under control. My weight is also up a bit. I'm committed to weighing in lower every Saturday in January. Want to join me in that as well?

Kathy, I find with the built bars, since they are high protein, there very satisfying and doesn’t lead to other things....might be worth trying.
Nancy, I thought the same thing...lol I do have the bites, they seem to be a little smaller than if I cut the bar in half (could be my imagination) so I prefer to get the whole bar. I’ll save the bites for a grab and go....Your always trying new things, see how the budget works for you, I don’t think you should go lower than 1150 a day. You may want to up your calorie budget to 8,750 a week. Just plan each day around 1150 (gives you 100 calorie wiggle room either way, each day) and you should easily be able to fit in a 300 calories snack....

Lori - According to my plan, today comes to 16 points and 978 calories. I had an ounce of lite liverwurst on a slice of 647 with a cup of cantalope for breakfast, a slice of pizza for lunch, 2 oz chicken with 3/4 cup veggie rice and 3/4 cup broccoli with a banana for dinner, a large salad (lotsa greens, 2 olives, .6 oz lite ham, 8 gm Jarslberg cheese and a deviled egg) with 1T wishbone red wine vinaigrette for my evening mini meal, followed by a an enlightened bar and 2 Kedem tea biscuits for an evening snack. It hardly sounds like starvation. Normally I would dream up another 222 calories to get to 1200. Seems in would be better to bank those for a higher point/calorie day. The extra 300 would be available like the weeklies but not required. Whaddaya think? As for the Built Bites, they are exactly half the grams as the Built Bars.

Lori - Mine was 8 points and 230 calories. This is how WW described it which seemed right to me Restaurant-type 14 thin crust cheese pizza.
