Turn up the calm. Itβs that time of year β multiple holidays, traveling to visit family, or relatives coming to stay with you. No wonder many of us feel overwhelmed.
Need a change of pace?
Get in the slow lane: take these steps to banish stress and get a dose of happiness.
a)Update your status to unplugged β disconnect from the tablet, laptop and smartphone. Spend time with people or a beloved pet instead of all those devices.
b)Learn to say no β donβt try to do everything. Ask for help. For example, instead of throwing a fancy holiday party, invite everyone to a potluck.
c)Put your priorities at the top of your list β plenty of time to sleep, play and exercise.
Do you take time for yourself this time of year? Anything else you care to share?

I have definitely learned to say "no" - years ago I finally understood if someone has a problem with me saying "no" it is their problem not mine!! This helped me to realize and respect others when they say "no" also. An invitation or request has the possibility of two answers "yes" or "no" either answer is okay.
I am finding myself eating in a way that I don't like or doesn't help me to feel good. Today I will do better

I take time for myself pretty much all year round. Being retired, living alone, with not much family close by I have lots of time for myself. In fact I need to make plans to get out and do things, with or without a friend.

I take my board time every day. (This one and another board)
I play games on my phone in the morning and while watching TV at night
My gym time is my time to do something for me! It's not up for discussion.
Meeting time is also time for me.
I try to fit in work, cleaning, projects, and playing chauffeur in between

Any stress for me is usually self-inflicted. I do my best to have reasonable expectations and plan ahead. This year, I am planning to take homemade food to share in the staff lounge closer to the holidays. I have some done and in the freezer, with a plan for the final items. I'm feeling good about it, not rushed or frustrated.
I'm doing a LOT better at taking time for myself (did some crafting this weekend) even when there are things-to-do on the list. Those things WILL still get done, the time spend having fun was worth it. I still pay attention to the required tasks, that will never change, but I'm doing better about taking time for myself when there are tasks that can, truly, honestly wait a day or so.
