Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

DRYUARY! Challenge! Letās begin!
January 1 through February 12 (Lunar New Year)
Will this be your year? YES!! Twenty years since Y2K and it seems like the bug might have finally landed. But with that said, some things just have not changed. We went into the pandemic thinking this will end, letās see what we can get done. Oops 2020 is over and we need to embrace a new and better 2021. Embrace with eyes wide open, with accountability, with questions not just going along, being the best you can be.
Now remember you need to be in the best shape you can be along with being a semi hoarder cuz if the zombie apocalypse comes, you need to be prepared, just a thought!
So with thatā¦letās start tweaking and niggling to make this year work for us. We can do this!
For many, New Year day means kicking off the year with a healthy beginning! We commit to healthy eating, no drinking and getting into shape. We want to cleanse our ourselves, our space, our environment. We need to eliminate the toxins so we can rejuvenate from within. We've filled ourselves with ācelebratoryā food and alcohol to enjoy the holidays or to medicate ourselves from the stress of the holidays. Come January 1 it is a fresh beginning.
So we come to the board to hold ourselves accountable. We come to the board to share our ups and downs, to share ideas of what works and what doesnāt. We come to the board to bond. We come to the board to celebrate success without food or alcohol.
Are you ready for this new challenge? If wavering, no matter, join in and take what works for you. Share, enjoy the bonding!
Options for being accountable!

HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY
We can be and will be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Letās be healthier versions of ourselves come February 12.

Yesterday was so beautiful! It was warm enough on our walk to take our sweatshirts off, ended up in the mid-sixties in the afternoon. Today is supposed to be a repeat, then back to rain and colder. I did stuff for the work project in the morning, then again in the afternoon. That seems to be a good schedule for me and I'm making good progress. We've got a Teams meeting this afternoon to discuss. I did watch some of the impeachment stuff, thought the House managers did a good job, didn't watch much of Trump's defense team.
I'm going to try to hold off until 70 to collect SS, since we don't seem to need the $$$ and will get more if I wait. The financial planner agreed. We got a quote for the backyard project, which was about twice what we expected. I think we will probably cut out part of it to make it more affordable.
Jan- WTG AF42, blue dot, rollovers, meals planned for the week, only 8 M&Ms! I'm sure DS & GF will love their Valentine box. Yay for being able to start collecting SS and use it for the new SUV.
Cindy- You sound chipper, dare I say jocund!?! I think my PMR started with the overexertion of packing for the move and the move itself. The symptoms started right around that time. DD keeps applying, without success so far.
Cathy- The lunch plan sounds good. WTG for the scale staying down.

Good morning all. Happy Hump Day. After today I know it's down hill to the weekend. Yesterday I wrote on my calendar, 8 more Tuesdays . I'm spoiled being retired!! But, I also like the almighty $$$ too much to give up such a sweet job that's so flexible and helps pass the long winter days. Last night I filled out my SS application and may get just the perfect amount for a car payment, we'll see. Tempted to look at new cars now as I could get one of the 0% interest rates, will work on convincing DH, he just hates buying new when the car depreciates so quickly, but maybe it will be my last new car, so why not. Getting some notes together to take to the new Dr tomorrow, just about the aches and pains etc. Not much other news here, Finn tried some outside time this morning but quickly came back in. They'll have to entertain themselves inside again today. GOing to see if I can get in a few steps before I leave the house this morning. Hope you all have a good day. Jan Cathy. Sounds like another creative lunch and use of your produce. I still feel like we throw so much out. We tossed 2 avocados the other day that we didn't use up. We need a plan, don't buy it unless it's going in the next two day's recipes. Hope the reading and writing is going well. Cindy. How is DS feeling? I just see my SS as some fun money. Teachers don't pay in in California so my little bit is from jobs worked before and after teaching. Figure it's not going to get any bigger so may as well spend it while the government still has it . Quiet day on the board yesterday, hope all are well. Amy. It is a good day to have a good day. I really know it's about the attitude I bring to the table that makes that true. Does you DH already collect his SS? I know my DSIL made my brother wait til 70 because then she will get the bigger amount when he's gone, but I'm not sure her thinking that she doesn't now take hers at 65 as she hasn't worked in years, and they always seem to need money. ? Since you're still working some hours, it makes sense to add to yours. r4444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444. Hi girls. Home alone today! š DD mentioned awhile ago that she was getting shocked when she did the dishes. When she was here Sunday, she said Rylee felt it too. DH sent home a voltage tester and it lit up. He went up today to see if he can figure out whatās wrong. I was down .2 this morning. I also have no energy. Iām calling for bloodwork. Something isnāt right. Tomorrow I have my OB/Gyn appt and Friday my mammogram. I might see if I can do the bloodwork Friday morning and then see the dr when the results come back.
Cindy: What in the world are you doing with all the lime juice?
Cathy: I feel like I need to get lost in a good book!
Amy: I canāt even watch the news. Iām just so disgusted with all the politics.
Jan: We had a zoom with our financial advisor yesterday. He also suggested I go ahead and take my SS at 62, especially since Iām not going back to work. My age was 76 1/2. I think DH plans on waiting, but youāre right. Itās a crapshoot.
Murphy: Well, at least Lindaās home now and should be able to take care of herself!

What will you be accountable for today? kept my blood letting appointment (RA blood tests) and my dental appointment Move More Accountability - Focusing on getting in the steps...just keeping at it. Sleep Accountability - don't want to think it is a lost cause but.... Nutrition Accountability - work in progress Journal Accountability - need more discipline Happiness Accountability - fair to middling Habit Accountability - water is becoming the norm and have cut back on caffeine. Still doing well on the water and better on caffeine Check in Daily Accountability - I'm here!! Time Management Accountability - making progress on the steps as part of time management...now to incorporate other stuff. Need to figure out what the other stuff is!! Hi all! Had an early dental appointment...all good (thanks water pik) but a tooth needs a crown because the fifty plus year old filling has cracked! Geez it only lasted fifty years. No hurry but need to schedule it. Need to find out whether I owe taxes before I schedule. Then off to do blood labs for my RA doctor. My appointment is on Tuesday but it will be a zoom meeting. Tuesday afternoon will bring me to the cardiologist to have an ECHO. Tax return review next week also. I'm already tired of February. Amy, sounds like a beautiful couple of days...we are in the twenties with the wind chill and are having snow flurries at the moment. I think inchoate and jocund may be a good description of me. Jocund because really think the stepping is helping me...just need to keep it up, lol. But definitely inchoate. I always found that no matter what project, 10K was always the minimum! Bathroom, 10K, Kitchen, 10K, screened in porch, 10K...and that was the basic plan. Would tiers work in your back yard with steps walking down? I hope the PMR just "goes away"! Jan, yup, definitely spend that SS money. It would be great to get a new car. DS keeps going to work but heads to bed soon after home. Tonight he feels better but will probably be asleep shortly. I hope you like your new doctor and the doctor has some answers for you. Umm, just doesn't sound good that SIL wanted DB to wait so she would get more when he passed away...too many It is always interesting to see how people think. Hope you had a good day. GG, all the limes are for the lime and fresca evening drink...still having it though have slowed down. When I can get good limes, aka big ones, I buy about 30 pounds and then freeze the juice. If you haven't done so already, you might request a vitamin D test. When talking to my dentist about COVID, she had a theory about vitamin D. People in nursing homes don't get vitamin D from the sun, children do because they play outside. Darker skinned people don't absorb as much and they are at a higher risk. It is just a theory but she suggested I get tested for my vitamin D....I did maybe six months ago but need to recheck the results. It was just a thought/theory of her but thinking I will add to my vitamin cocktail. Lack of Vitamin D can cause tiredness. I hope DH can figure out the problem at DD's home. Carole, glad your Dad is doing well and that you were able to get a good work out in. I hope your brother steps up! Never worry about a downer post, we are here for you!! Murphy, you are a really good friend to Linda. Glad you were chilling during the day! Take care of yourself!! Cathy, glad the scale is working the way it should! Glad your sister is doing well. Is there any word when the shut down might lift? I'm figuring if I use up what I have, I will figure out what I really use. Can never count on the produce but on a somewhat good note, we are getting a beer garden restaurant that is also going to incorporate a Farmer's Market and fingers crossed. Liz, olly, olly, oxen free!..probably a better version available but sending this out as Check IN! Need to finish up some steps I think! Hugs to all, Cindy

Whoa, we are having snow flurries and it is 18 degrees without wind chill factor! What fun! Glad I fed the birds early evening, though there was ice on the feeders at that point. Felt badly for the robins but read how they survive during this weather so hopefully they are good. Should start planning my patios garden(s) that probably won't come together, but hope springs eternal, ho ho!
Hugs, Cindy

My word for 2021: FOCUS My Visual/Mantra/whatever: Believe -> See My Goals/Intentions for this year - at least ones I am contemplating include: āļø* Making healthy food choices that when tracked on ITB will see me at goal weight before 2022 Another OP day āļø* Will Record AF/AIM/AIE in my diet journal AF 35/ AIM 3/ ANIM 3 āļø* increasing activity - want to increase stamina, strength, balance and flexibility āļø* Will write down an affirmation and gratitude daily in my journal or online tracking online and in paper journal āļø* Limit the reading for review! āļø* Revisit old fun activities that I have not included for awhile - needlework, movies, music, baking(?), January 1 start weight: 176.4 January 8: 178 January 15: 174.6 January 22: 172.2 January 29: 172.8 February 5: 173 February 12: scale: 171.6 (sixth day) did see 170.8 flicker on the scale but it did not hold. My husband brought flowers from the garden and we ordered a bottle of wine to celebrate my birthday tonight. I am making some garbanzo beans that will become hummus and we will have that with some of the leftovers unless I come up with some other plan. I am thankful to be 69 today and have avoided covid-19, be strong, healthy and lighter on my feet this year than last year at this time. I just did the math and I weigh 25.6 pounds less THIS year than LAST year. Next year...is a mystery but do plan to be lower than this and last year
AMY: I am glad you can wait to take SS retirement checks till you turn 70 and get more each month. What will you have done in the backyard first and what will you wait on? Would it be cheaper to do it all now and do a payment plan over a period of time or is it better to pay it all project by project?
JAN: I have two avocados that are ripe. The last one I mashed and added a boiled egg to. It was delicious. On the blue plan the only thing that counts is the avocado and when I factor in the 2 points for egg and 1 or more points for a bit of mayonnaise I used to use...it came out about the same. I like avocado in omelets and on toast and now with boiled eggs....oh...and in salads with citrus. I have a short Beta read to send feedback on...hope to get to it today AND have half of a new Urban Fantasy that I am reading that is written by Sawyer Bennett. It is a five part series and this is book 1. Couldn't stay awake till three again last night so headed to bed around midnight and will finish it today.
MURPHY: Glad you could help Linda out. Know you won't become her servant Do hope you enjoyed relaxing a bit yesterday.
GG: I had a dishwasher in Jordan that shocked us...we had someone come out and it was not grounded. Overseas they bring in appliances then cut off the big prong so it will fit into a two hole plug...They did ground it some way or other. Hope they figure out what is wrong! What genre of books do you like?
CAROL: I am glad that your father is doing so well. How long will he need to have someone at home with him before he can be on his own?
CINDY: It sounds like you have a lot happening in February. Hope you get it all sorted. The lockdown is opening gradually in four phases...every two weeks something will ease. This two weeks you are able to only drive IF you fill out an online form and get a permit to be out and about for two hours AND specify where you will be. Manufacturing companies are able to open up and banks and a few other places at 20% capacity. Can't remember what is next BUT they are protesting all over the country because shopkeepers and others live on a day to day based income and when closed for so many days they cannot sell and eventually can't pay rents or buy food for their families. So...it is interesting. They may have or may be bringing int he first vaccine but only 28,000 doses SO it will be a long time before we are vaccinated. We plan to stay home and be safe and order what we can delivered to our gate rather than go out and about.
