Good morning friends. Slept well and woke up refreshed. Still trying to curb the night owl in me and get to bed before midnight. I'll have another shot at that tonight
We shall enjoy the chicken dinner that we were going to have yesterday....today. Carl wants to smoke it and I'll take care of the sides.
Pam so happy you got to enjoy a laid back day. LOL to the cats not wanting to go out int he cold. Same deal here with miss LuLa. This morning I woke up to 10 degrees with the real feel of 0! Should it warm up I shall walk outdoors. If not, oh well...I'll make the most of it inside. Loved the picture you painted in the FB post. Nothing like being indoors WATCHING mother nature at work Congrats on that fantastic weight loss. Happy dancing with you
Wishing y'all a pleasant and OP day. Will CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday!! We stayed up later than usual watching an episode of "Dateline" so I fell asleep quickly and slept very well. I was aware of dreaming a lot during the night, mostly about school.
It is mid-morning and the temp is 17 with a RF of 5. Once again I will forego walking outdoors as it is snowing and blowing and though it is pretty through the window, I don't feel called to go out in it.
Ann ~ It is great that you found all you were looking for while out shopping. I love when that happens! Who ever thought that would become a goal to attain in our day-to-day life?? But this pandemic has made me grateful for things that I once took for granted. Enjoy your day!
Judy ~ So sorry to hear about your brother! His upbeat attitude is a positive sign along with having a great doctor. He will definitely be added to the prayer list. How kind and thoughtful of you to send out Valentine's cards to others. I wish I had thought of something like that, but alas, I did not! How great that you got to visit with your DGS in CA. Sometimes technology is great!!
Pam ~ Thanks for the tip. DH does have a My Chart online, but they keep switching which one they use and I've all but given up. I'm just "old school" enough to want a person to talk to me!! His cardiologist has always (for over 25 years) talked to me after any procedure, so I know someone dropped the ball here. The nurse in his office relayed to me that his note said he would discuss this with the patient at his follow-up visit (that's BS) but assured me if anything had been wrong they wouldn't have discharged him from the hospital. I guess that was supposed to appease me?? It didn't...... In regards your DGK Valentine gifts, they won't care when they get them ..... just that you sent them.
I don't plan to accomplish much today - but I have started a load of towels washing and will quick-clean the bathroom and hang fresh towels; and perhaps change the sheets on our bed. I have plenty to do, but just don't feel motivated to do it.
So far we have had cinnamon swirl toast with bacon slices and a fruit bowl for breakfast. If I eat lunch, it will be a bowl of veggie/bean soup. I checked that I have all the ingredients to make the next batch soon. Supper tonight will be penne pasta with meatballs done in the Instant Pot.
DH reported that yesterday he had a half of a Tubby's steak 'n cheese sandwich in his travels, which I thought was very coincidental because one of the DJ's on the radio had talked about that very sandwich during the morning show. We have never had Tubby's before (there are just too many sandwich shops around and we usually eat Subway). But since DH said how good they are, they will turn up on our "to-do list".
We talked briefly about going out for Valentine's Day but honestly, I don't know if I'm ready. I feel as protected as I can be with my two shots, etc., but I don't know how much I trust the restaurants to be as sanitized as they should be?? Since I'm not hankering for anything, I think I will probably wait.
I ordered some new masks this morning and hope for the best. They look good and have some good features, plus they fit men or women with adjustable ear straps. I looked at them on FB last night, and signed up for their newsletter. Today I got an email offering me a sale price plus 10% off (via code) and with a purchase of $30 free shipping. So I ordered 5 of them in different colors/prints and got the free shipping and a really fair price. Now if they only COME!! But I have been lucky.
We are excited to hear from DH's DD in Florida today. He sent her the Edible arrangements (Valentine style) which her DS is picking up and delivering to her. I expect he'll get a phone call sometime this afternoon. I am so glad he thought of that. They recently sent us a loaf of Friendship Bread which her DH makes, and we enjoyed it very much. Plus they had a long visit on the phone a couple of weeks ago, mending some fences along the way.
Time to go strip my bed and switch the laundry. BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue I agree...if one thing happened for the GOOD it's to appreciate all that we have and what we can accomplish Other than that, the pandemic can go south LOL. Don't blame you for not venturing out in snow/blow weather. Here it is sunny and not windy which made our hood walk bearable. I also like your decision of staying put for Valentine's Day and for the reasons you mentioned. In this I trust nobody but myself and who lives in our home LOL....just color me VERY paranoid! And I'm good with that. What I deem as important may differ...I still will continue to go for my hair and nail salon visits and shop but that's the extent of my outside life Those masks sound darling and I hope you get them. That's a new sandwich shop to me. I also love Subway and hope you enjoy the new place just as much. Your meal tonight is right up my alley. Love anything pasta related. Time for lunch will CBL

Hi All ~
I have gotten lots of little things done after all. I had some masks that were too loose, so I sat down and slowly and methodically put tiny knots in the ear elastics and now they all fit. I also bagged up all mine and DH's masks from this week and have them in a lingerie bag ready to go in the washer. Now I have quite a few masks so I feel rich!!
I was sitting downstairs in my office and realized my new chair was loose on one side, so I called DH and when he came home he 'found' the Allen wrench that came with it and tightened it. Now it is perfect! I also had wanted to vacuum my basement stairs with my little Dirt Devil vacuum (that I can us without being unsafe)but it needed emptying and I couldn't get it unlocked. DH did that for me, as well as taught me how to do it. Also the stairs are clean! We came upstirs and used an Allen wrench to tighten the legs on our dining table and chairs (which were really really loose). I had noticed it, and when I had the carpets cleaned last the guy moved our table and he commented on it. Today was a productive day!
I have changed my mind about tonight and will be using some thin whole wheat spaghetti instead of penne. I saw a picture of spaghetti and meatballs, and it made my mouth water. I ended up skipping lunch, except for a Valentine cookie that DH brought home from our niece and he and I ate. So it will probably be an early supper.
I feel very good about all the little things we got accomplished today. Now back to my new book.

Mmm to spaghetti and MBs Sue. Sounds like your day was very productive getting all those things done.
I did laundry and organized my computer desk. More papers needed to be gone through and I did some shredding as well.
Just an all in all relaxing day.

Hi all,
I intended to write earlier but the day escaped! We wound up going to the nice kitchen store and picked out a new farmhouse style sink and faucet. I've never really shopped for all this stuff for a new house before and we are both excited looking at all this beautiful stuff. DH is more extravagant when it comes to things like this than I am and is really into quality. Yet he will wear the same tee shirts for years. lol Clothes don't matter to him. :-)
I made a chili recipe that my WW friend recommended. Butternut squash chili that she found on the Hungry Girls site. It had a lot of tomatoes in it and we thought it was just okay. THe combo of butternut squash and tomatoes was not my favorite. I guess old habits die hard. Then I made a delicious Hello Fresh dinner with pasta, chicken, garlic, roasted tomatoes and spicy Italian seasonings. The sauce had some butter, cream cheese, parmesan cheese and pasta broth. DH loved it.
Glad to read your notes. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for my dear brother. He is a trooper and upbeat. There is a very good prognosis for kidney cancer and they caught it early.
I have been helping DD with the second Paycheck Protection application. THey needed another payroll form, and the bank made her do the entire application over rather than submit the missing documents. Good grief! It's in now but took a few hours.
Enjoy the night. I am off to veg out and finish my book. I think I have figured out the mystery. :-)

Sue, meant to add that it is so nice that you are reconnecting with your children and grandchildren. That is heartwarming. Also, nice that DH is teaching you how to fix things. My friend has been videotaping her husband doing certain chores in case she ever has to do them alone. So smart.
Ann, brrrrrr to another freezing day. I wore my Lands End version of Cuddle Duds today all day under my jeans.

Good evening friends!
Sue - How nice that first DGS and now DH's DD have reached out. Like Ann said, the pandemic has made many of us look at things differently and what seemed important in the past may not seem so insurmountable now. And what would we do without our handymen! We quit eating out for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or any major holiday because the restaurants are always full and service is slow.
Judy - How nice that DH is determined you will have nice surroundings in which to retire. My DH wouldn't have a clue about sinks, faucets, etc. I had to laugh about your DH and his tshirts. Mine is the same, but he keeps buying new tshirts, so I have to encourage him to part with some old ones to make room.
Ann - I much prefer looking at winter weather to walking in it, driving in it or shoveling it, lol. I am preparing myself to do some house-walking Monday and Tuesday until the cold weather passes through.
Debbie and I walked in a chilly 34 degrees with a 10 mph wind, but we got it done. I am sure the neighbors think we are crazy. No one here goes out in the cold unless they absolutely have to. I can't imagine what they would do with a RF of 5 degrees. Everything will shut down here Sunday-Tuesday with the predicted sleet. The Gov. has already declared an emergency. No one has snow tires, the highway dept. doesn't have salt or sand for the roads and no one knows how to drive in it, so they just shut it down. We got all the groceries we needed today, as I am sure the stores will be crazy tomorrow, just like before a hurricane. We are predicted to get .25-.50 inches of ice, so we are expecting the power to be off at least some of the time. Since we are all electric and just finished burning up any wood we had, we may get cold. Time will tell.
I had eggs, toast and bacon for breakfast, fruit, yogurt and seeds for lunch, an apple and 1 Tbs. of almond butter for a snack and onion soup, salad and ham sandwich for dinner.
DH and I stopped and picked up a small pot of tulips and some Valentine candy for the mom of some dear friends from college. She and her husband were always kind and welcoming to us. He passed away a few years ago and she is now in hospice. We just rang the door bell and gave them to our friend, her son. He has been providing pretty much all her care and looked rough. I plan to call and check up on him. After that, we visited DD1 and family for a bit. She was making gumbo and DSIL was busy covering his baby satsuma trees, hoping to help them survive. Then we picked up groceries at Walmart and headed home.
I am tired this evening, so I probably won't read for long. Sweet dreams!
