Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE February 14 through April 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what not to care about. Your health, your familyâs health, doing what works for your corner of the world. Let go of the things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my âflawsâ have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when Iâm alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

Word of 2021: Imagine.......the possibilities, the changes, what I can do and taking care of me. Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE. February 14 through April 4 AF 53. Started Christmas Day. My gift to me for 2021! Feeling Good!! AIM 2 ANIM 3 Move More Accountability: 4 Get my AP bar each day, 10,000+ steps, walked upstairs, Leslie Sansone. 16 FP. Sleep Accountability: 4 7+ hours, slept well Nutrition Accountability: 4. 31/23. Blue dot, AF had all the treats but tracked. Ice cream and cookie. Meals planned for week. Journal Accountability: 5. Write every morning before any screens, record challenges, gratitudes and daily plans. Happiness Accountability 4. Just be responsible for my own happiness. Yay for a weekend. Habit Accountability: 3 Make 80+ oz of water a habit, plan for treats, walk daily, take time for quiet reflection each day, less screen time Check in Daily Accountability 5. I'm here. I come here first after journaling, then e mail, FB and Connect. Then need to check out. Time Management Accountability 4. Morning routine is pretty set, afternoon hours need more structure after work. February 14 start weight: 196.8 February 21: 195.8 February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in: "A year from now you may wish you started today!" "I am happiest when I take care of myself first" Good morning. Had a pretty good day meeting the goals I wanted, still need to keep thinking about water before snacks or soda and stay off the screens in "down" time. I finished my puzzle, found the cats have one piece that's AWOL. At least if we find it under something later we'll know what box it goes in. Sorted a few cabin photos, did a grocery run, watched Hidden Figures last night, I'd seen it but enjoyed it again. Not sure what I"ll try to accomplish today except read the papers, make my stuffed shells for dinner and get some lunch put together for tomorrow. I have to be at PT by 8 in the morning and then straight to work from there. Ready to see what they have to say about my hip and get some exercises I can do at home to work on it. Dh just made bacon and eggs for breakfast so will work my day around that. Ice cream and cookies are gone temptations are out of the house. Today just work on water and movement. Hope you all have a great Sunday. Jan Cindy. Glad the temps are warming up and things are thawing out. Each day should get a little better and better. Probably means the edsel is still in the garage? Maybe you all can get back to a sense of "normal" this week. Hope you got some sleep. Carole. You'll have fun skiing and Wilmot is a good place to start. Used to go there when I was in high school. DH laughs that we call it a "mountain", he grew up skiing the north cascades out of Seattle. It's not far over the Wisconsin border, around Kenosha. Have fun. Sounds like a good night out with Lexie. Did DH still go to Las Vegas? Murphy. Glad things are going well, no regrets about retirement!! Have you gotten on your bike yet? Cathy. So sorry it's still so cold, hope you can get the house warm enough to take a shower today. Then in the Chicago paper this morning I see where these women go in the morning and cut a hole in the ice on lake michigan to take a morning swim!!! There must be some other kind of gene pool that people can do that, or go out ice fishing!! . To get 10 AP changes by the activity. If I just walk it takes @ 15000 steps, yesterday doing 30 minutes of aerobic, heart rate tracked on fitbit, I got 10 and then 6 for walking 10,000+ steps. It also tracks by if I walked steady for over an hour, like Amy does, it's more AP than many short walks even if the steps are the same. My goal has been to get an AP bar each day, which tracks if I do a continuous 10+ minutes of exercise that raises your H rate. I've hit everyday this year so far but one. I know it helps me on the scale when I'm consistent. Hope you get to talk to kids today, that scale will be in the next decade next week! GG. How do you feel your week is going? Have you had any more energy by getting deeper sleep? When do you go back to the regular Dr? I'm curious what the PT will say about my hip pain. No one's really said if they think it's just muscle, arthritis, bone degeneration. We'll see Amy. Ha, I figured DS must have walked with you, and then probably went home for a run :0. I'll be chasing him today but not counting on catching him. Did you make the veggie lasagna? Glad he can take some home for the week. DH spent his 25 minutes on hold yesterday waiting to talk to someone at Fidelity about moving the money, they said wait a few more days. Uggh, but I think he was able to get in this morning and at least add a bank account number for making the transfer. Are you starting another Santa today? Hope the roofer calls. About how long is your walk on the trail when you go, it there an end and you turn around or like a loop? Does it take an hour or more? Just thinking about the AP question from Cathy and wondering how long or far you walk each morning. Hi Liz!!

Hi everyone,
This morning DH was taken to the hospital with chest pains. They discovered a blood clot in the lower lobe of his left lung. They began treatment with a heparin (sp?) drip and have changed him over to Eloquis (sp?) . He is doing ok and they will keep him a day or so to make sure he is responding. They are not allowing visitors but I spoke to him and he sounds much better.
Trying to get some rest now and will catch up with posts.

Not doing the full long personal post thing...getting a late start. Everything is fine BUT there isn't much to say so...more later BUT...
Jan: Thank you for explaining the 10 activity points and how it is accrued...no fitbit so usually just count minutes
Liz: I hope your husband will be fine and home soon. Was this related to covid or just out of the blue?
Everyone else...hope to do personals tomorrow.
