WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

I did some food prep yesterday for my family to make a couple of my busy nights this week a little easier. The fact that I actually planned 4 meals is in itself a small miracle. I usually don’t know what I’m making them until that day.
Meg, I’ve been slowly culling through my clothes. I drop a bag off at the donation center almost every week. I’m even finding myself buying a lot less because I’m just so tired of the clutter. You’ve traded warm, sunny Arizona for Chicago and grandkids. You definitely came out on top :-)
Lori, when everything returns to “normal”, we will definitely appreciate so much more, at least for a little while. So good that you got out for a little while.
Nancy, almost 7300 steps for you, wonderful! It wasn’t too long ago that you would have thought that impossible because of your foot. I’m so glad it’s healed.

C57. D3. OP. Tracking. Yoga + exercise. Doing just fine. My current goal is to have blue dots every day in February. I came very near blowing it last night - I worked about 10-11 hours on my computer yesterday :-( and at about 10:30 thought I deserved a treat! But I had used my 24 points. So I had some cottage cheese and, unlike me, ate about 2 cups of whole wheat rotini. Zero points, but still... Better than other choices I could have made.
Jan - way to go on the meal planning and meal prep. Nice to clean out the closets! I joined Gwynnie Bee a few years ago for $30 per month and now 'rent' my work clothes. Pre-COVID I had three articles of clothing at a time (suit jackets, pant, blouses, dresses, skirts, etc...) and now I just do 1 item at a time. It's basically a professional clothes sharing system by US mail. I love it!!! My wardrobe is always interesting and new, at least to me:-) I wear something to a few different meetings and then put it back in my mailbox and then next item(s) come in the mail. AND now I only have about 12 items of clothes in my closet (plus all my jeans, sweatshirts, pjs, sweaters, etc...). When I retire, way in the future, I won't have a closet of outdated professional clothes to get rid of. It is a clothing rental service starting at size 10 or 12. So not for everyone.
Lori - sounds like you had a very nice day on your drive and diner. I was just talking with my mom about how COVID will make us appreciate the little things we took for granted in life - just like you said. The first time I went to church in person, got a Sunday paper at the grocery store, and had my MIL over for Sunday dinner left me GIDDY for days. Like I'd never known such joy!
Meg - how nice that you live within walking distance of your DGKs. That is my ultimate retirement plan as well! The weather is warming up here today and I have no excuse not to take the dogs for a walk - and they know it!
Louise -Good morning! Hope you work out a chocolate plan. I am giving up alcohol for Lent, but it is cheating since I only occasionally have a drink.
Nancy - Good and Plenties out of sight - good plan. You and DH should be at the top of the list for the vaccine and I'm sending you good thoughts to get on a list ASAP! Britain is moving to get 1st vaccine in as many people as possible and extending the second shot to 12 weeks. It's wait and see what will be done here in the US. It might even be state by state....
So glad to check in with all you friends this morning!
Kathy

Day 12 of tracking, exercise, and no unplanned sweet treats. Yay! Scale did not change, but I didn't flip out. Glad it didn't go up!
Jan: I have a few bags to drop at the Salvation Army. The facility near my house closed, so I'm hoping the one north of us is still open and accepting. I imagine they are inundated with stuff as people clean out but not as many people come shop.
Kathy: Re. giving up alcohol for Lent, that gives me some ideas. I'll give up eggplant and sushi (things I never eat). And clogging! Heh.
Peace to all.

At about 3:30 AM I had a slice of 647 and a string cheese which revises my stats to 17 points and 1349 calories.
Jan - You'll be thrilled when you get to serve those prepared meals. Maybe it will be the start of a new habit.
Kathy - Air popped popcorn is another good zero point option if you get tired of cottage cheese or whole wheat pasta. The clothes rental option sounds really cool for people like you who need to dress for work. I was told that you need to click on the sites in the middle of the night to get appointments. I tried non stop for two hours from 1-3 AM. NADA. I'm registered everywhere and am about to give up until someone contacts me.
Meg - my scale has also been in a holding pattern the last week. Frustrating.

Busy with work stuff today. Students are starting to come back on campus now so things are picking up.
Nancy, Janet was very wise to suggest moving the good and plenty‘s. Out of sight out of mind....good choice last night. So frustrating regarding vaccine.... hope things went well with the generator
Jan, good job on prepping the food. Since my kids were in sports, I always cooked on the weekends and reheat during the week. Worked out well, instead of stopping at fast food on the way to practice. Plus I like the fact that all the mess is done on the weekends and no mess during the week. I just stuck to that even now that it’s just DH and I. Since working from home, it’s been nice to always have fresh salad and homemade soups...
Kathy, Great February goal! Much better choices for sure...Feeling Giddy is a good way to describe the simple pleasures...love the renting idea! If I ever need a fancy dress again, I plan on doing that...sounds like fun!
Meg, Keep adding up those good days and the scale will catch up....

Lori - I'm not sure I would mind the initial expense though I'm not yet sure if there is tax on top of that - but there are pricy annual maintenance charges on top of that. I'm not sure I like where it would be placed and have several other questions that I emailed and am awaiting the response. It would probably make sense to speak with other installers. When we purchased our Lenox furnace and AC, there was a huge price difference between installers. Nothing's easy is it? Also it wouldn't be installed until July due to approvals and demand and such. Lots to think about.
