Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Wow...temp starting the day is 32. Nice! Expected high of 41.
Anngie, sorry you lost your post, been there, done that!!! Very irritating. I don't know what was up with the nail chewing. I have to make myself more aware of what I am doing while reading. Absolutely stupid of me. I think I am just going to take a step back and try cleaning out my 2 freezers, and not do any deliveries. I guess I really don't mind running to the store. I just missed a conversation on the local news about herd immunity, and when it looks like we will reach that point, they were projecting when, and I think they said June, but not sure. Wouldn't that be nice to be to some kind of normal by fall?
Robin, as of this posting, DD is still driving to get home from Chicago airport. Of course with it being 2 women, things went haywire, after getting off the plane, after being on the plane for 10 hours, so she is quite not happy. An adventure she will learn from. About her picture posting, that is what my DD does. We are all used to it, lol. But this time she might have posted more, for the girls to see. They stayed with the family of the friend that went with my DD, as those are the girls friends, and then they could keep up with virtual school. I am glad she did not ask me if they could stay here. I wouldn't have been any help whatsoever, with the schooling. I guess there in LV, you do not have to wear masks outside. Yes, no shows. I have been hearing of some concerts being planned for this summer, and the girls all went to Disney on Ice last week, sounds like promoters or whoever is figuring out how to set those up for social distancing. Good to hear you are vaccinated! I agree, I always like it when people are expected here, then the apartment gets a good cleaning. That is why Jeff, the realtor and his brother who flips houses bought the house, to make it into a party house, which was very popular, before Covid, around the Stadium district, close to Lambeau Field. So then they were able to take their time finishing it. I have to send him a message today, to see if we can see it Friday, as I was waiting on hearing from DD2 if they could make it then. Yes, Covid vaccinations are not set up uniformly, state to state. How can you even have a uniform way to do it the same way, as each state population is different, and county by county population is different.
Gareth, hope all went well with your scan. See my post to Robin, about DGC. Good to hear your DH is doing good. When does he see his PCP?
Pinky, I too am liking this warm weather in the early morning right away. Bad thing is we got a coating of snow overnight, so everyone going to work this morning is driving like a bat out of heck, and sliding off the highways. I had to warn my DD, as she is driving back right now, from O'Hare. My dentist appointment was rescheduled, 2 hours before the apt time. I bet it was Covid related. Moved to this Saturday. That makes twice rescheduled. I guess I am getting some kind of coupon in the mail because of it. Just give me my cleaning for free!! Lol! I feel so bad for you, missing all those trips! And the thing is, there was a time that we all took those regular trips for granted. I am praying that Beef-A-Rama will go on as planned this fall; I would love to be able to go. Don't know if I will have the nerve to go by myself. I know a few women that say they would go with me, but when it comes down to it, I have my doubts. Oh well, we shall see how this all shakes out. Good luck getting the vaccine. I am sure you will do good. That is the thing about the shots, and states, some states are not as populated as others, so you can move on to other ages faster.
Marsha, I am jealous of you, how you get to eat so much Mexican! If I want that food, I have to buy the frozen meals to go in the micro. I do not do delivery. And after just so much Mexican food, my acid reflux kicks in, no matter how much of my acid reflux meds I take. I had asked on here one day recently how expensive it is to have Food Duds or whoever, deliver from restaurants, but did not get an answer. That is another consideration for me not to do delivery. Good luck to your DDIL on her new job! I took over most of the snow shoveling out at the house years ago, for the exercise, but that was kind of a long and wide driveway. Very good for getting those AP.
Carol, it still is horrible seeing all the issues down there, on the news. Did you see much of that, while out and about yesterday? I hope you do not get one of those massive bills! Thanks for reminding me, as I need to call my salon too, to get in there. I think I am going to try and grow my hairs out a bit, but of course I will see what my stylist thinks of that. I am getting sick of wearing wigs, and I think (could be just hope) that my hair has stopped shedding so much. I too like looking at redone houses. I am excited to see my brothers house. I wish my one and only brother would be here for it, but he is down in AZ. I too got a massive headache after my 2nd shot, and I normally do not get migraines; I think I can count on 1 hand how many times I got a very bad headache. I am good for having tension headaches, but the one after the shot was certainly not a tension headache.
Beautiful morning today. I think I heard we are to get some snow again tonight. Have my appointment at the CU this morning. Lots to take care of, since I will be going inside, and not just at the drive up.
I think it was someone on here that gave me the advice to try a yoga video on You tube.(?) Yesterday I went through there and found some for seniors, and as of today, I am going to try it. I need to get this old body into better shape. I do my walking everyday, but I need to get more loosened up.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Forgot to tell you all my big excitement yesterday!!! When I did my walking, I did a fast 20 minute walk, faster than normal. About 5 minutes later, I took my blood pressure. Now, remember, I do not take any kind of heart meds, high blood pressure meds, anything like that, never have. My normal BP readings are around 134/82, in that ball park. Yesterday, after walking, it was 127/76!!! Oh, I was so happy with myself!!! Thank you for letting me pat myself on the back.....not really, I need to do get more into yoga to do that, HAHAHAHA!!!!.

Very good blood pressure Karen, good for you. It is too bad that this is not a time when groups are forming and you can go out and be more social. I am sure you would end up finding someone to go with you. You never know. I know after my DF died, and he was only 71, my DM developed a very big social circle. Some of her friends from the original block started moving away, and especially after she retired, she developed even more. I am guessing that for your DD, with flying from Chicago, and spending 10 hours for a flight that should have probably only been 3 1/2, they must have taken a connecting flight, unless of course she was talking about from when she left the hotel, until she finally gets back to Green Bay. I always find a travel day to be exhausting no matter what.
Even though I thought it didn't get down to freezing here, there was a slick bit of ice on the driveway, where the snow melted on the grass and came out a drain we have. I started to slip but then stopped, very luckily. We are going to stay in the mid 30's today, and looks like we will possibly have a little rain in the next 10 days, possibly a chance of snow but not much, so we will hope the rest will melt.
Now I have 3 books to read. I decided to take The Push, will put off others again if I come up. The Push is the latest thriller people are talking about. I will finish The Takeaway Men in the next day or 2, and start that. I also have the new Susan Mallery to read later at night. Maybe I will fall asleep earlier today. At 5:45 this morning someone's car alarm went off, so that woke me up, then about 6:00 or so, I start hearing back up beepers from the construction trucks that are doing to work on the main road, or are pulling out of the work yard for the village that is on the other side of the railroad tracks from us. Then of course also some noise from Alexa.

Pinky – Hamentaschen are triangular shaped cookies usually with some kind of filling. They are eaten for the holiday of Purim which celebrates the story of Esther.
Karen – when my cousin was little and chewed her nails, I remember she would put perfume on them because it tastes so bad that it would stop her. Food Dudes was the one that delivered our Mexican food last week and it came cold. I don’t know if most delivery companies have any kind of heating thing in the car or those insulated bags but I think that Food Dudes did not. There was a few dollars higher price on each of the meals and then I think delivery was about $3 on top of that – I’ll see if I have anything on the order in my email. Good luck with the Yoga video. I have done a few but I lose patience with them. Good for you on the blood pressure!
Robin - I will look into those books.
I spoke with my mother last night and she did not have any side effects from the 2nd shot except that she woke up in the middle of the night with her arm very sore like someone had punched her. My aunt was very tired and so was the friend who took them. I think they were all very lucky. My cousin's son who got the shot was very sick after the 2nd. I asked how he got the shot because although he is a pharmacist I think he works in sales, and apparently his wife (who is a hospital pharmacist so she got the shot) called him when they had shots left over that they needed to use up so he dashed over quickly and got one.
We ended up finishing our leftovers last night. DH finished my burrito and enjoyed it even though it was veggie - it was onions, peppers, tomatoes, beans and rice with cheese and sauce. Very good. HOpefully he'll go to the store today so I'll make the salmon I had planned for last night, otherwise I don't know what dinner will be.
I am enjoying Fifty Words For Rain.

40º now. Love it. Almost feels Springlike. Nice to see some of the snow melting. My poor car is filthy but it makes no sense to wash it since it'll be dirty again right away.
Got a good report yesterday from both my bone scan and labs. First time they also scanned my arm. The Dr said it's because I have so much arthritis in my spine that it helps give a more accurate test comparing bones in my arm and spine. I knew I had arthritis in my back but I didn't realize how bad it is. No wonder my back aches.
DH messaged yesterday with our PCP who agrees it would be a good idea to see his urologist since even though the pain is better he's still having some.
Karen, why was DD on the plane for 10 hours? I know it's not that long a flight and if there was a layover she wouldn't be on the plane.
Robin, glad to hear you got the vaccine and not a placebo. I'll have to look up The Push. I haven't heard of it. I'm a little burned out though on thrillers.
Marsha, thanks for explaining hamentaschen. I'd never heard of it.

Good news! We are off the boil order finally. There was a posting on Facebook. Not all of the town is off the order There is a map and you put in your address and it shows which part you are in. I am so relieved we can stop boiling all the water.
We don't know very many personally who had burst pipes, etc. A woman we do know is divorced and was able to buy a house a year or so ago. She was so happy to get a house and last week a pipe burst. She posted pictures and they are terrible. She was able to hire someone to work on her house. She is very lucky she was able to get someone so soon. I guess someone is first in line for repairs and this time she is iy. She has dehumidifiers and fans all over. She is going through the drying process like we did, but at least ours was under the house.
Marsha, I hope the sore arm is the only side effect your DM has.
Karen, good BP numbers.
Last weekend we warned of black ice even though it was getting warmer, there was still some ice on the roads. It was still getting below freezing at night. It isn't a problem now, it is 70.

It’s snowing! No great surprise there.
Well, I finally got a date for a Covid vaccine for Thursday. It’ll be at Walgreens. The pharmacies have pretty much taken the 65+ people. Counties and hospitals (here) have been instructed not to vaccinate this group. It’s about a one hour and 15 minute drive. Something to do - somewhere to go! haha
Marsha, thanks about the info on Hamentaschen. Too bad your anniversary food came cold. That’s one kind of food that’s best hot! Nice your DDIL has a new job close to home!
Karen, cudos on the blood pressure! DD certainly has a story to tell! Nothing worse than being stuck in an airport.
Robin, no fun being woken up by outside noise. It’s the worst actually. Then I’m tired all day. Have you secured the new offices?
Gareth, good news on your bone scan! Does your back constantly ache? Is it weather related?
Carol, glad your off the boil order. I feel sorry for your friend. Just an example of when we think we have it bad - somebody, somewhere has it worse.
Hi Pinky!
I just started reading a novel - Mademoiselle Chanel. It’s about Coco Chanel the fashion (perfume) legend. I’ll bet this will be an eye opener.

Anngie - good news on the vaccine appointment. DH picked up our anniversary food this past weekend so it was on the hot side of warm when we ate. The week before we had it delivered and it was on the cool side of warm.
Carol - so happy for no more boil order!

Just like I told the Dr yesterday after getting my Prolia shot that now would be when I'd finally get called for my Covid shot. As it turned out it was DH that got called so he's getting his shot now. He asked about me and they gave him a number for me to call in two weeks for mine to be scheduled. So relieved that he's getting his and I know I will be too soon.

Anngie, glad you got that appointment. As far as the office goes, I think DH is ready to move forward. He was negotiating with our current landlord to see if he would be willing to reduce rent, but I guess they couldn't work it out. I didn't think they would. The landlord thinks he has something great, but he doesn't for what he wants to charge. One of the upstairs rooms was empty for either 1 or 2 years, then they rented it to someone who lasted maybe 6 months and was out. There is one small office not rented. One woman does Reiki and has not been in the office for a year, I have no idea if she is paying her rent or not. They once in a while put mail there, so maybe she is. The landlord uses most of the 1st floor, and his business is not good right now, they are business brokers. He has 2 people who usually come in for part of the day on most days. He doesn't come in himself, nor does his son, who's wife just had a baby, so they are quarantining so they can see the baby? I know lots of people do that, but glad we are not ones who have that issue.
Carol, so glad you are off that boil order. I heard temps really went up now. Gareth, we are at 40 also, but seeing as we were never as cold as you were, I can't say it is that much of a difference. Good that your DH got his vaccine. I have so much wrong with my back that I can't even think about it, just manage. As my Dr says, I guess you are not a complainer. He is used to my DH.
Marsha, good that your DM hasn't had that much effect. Everyone reacts a different way, but hopefully if enough people get vaccinated, things will get better.
Karen, how did your DD manage to get a First Class ticket?

So now I see how so many more people can get vaccinated in South Dakota. So far they have receive doses to cover 20% of their population, and NY has received enough to cover 10%. The numbers for Minnesota are close to the numbers from South Dakota. So, it all makes sense.
