WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

I’m so happy I’ve stuck to my February challenge. In just another month biking season will be starting, so I’ll be able to relax a little with my eating.
Meg, yay for the Silver Sneakers membership! It must be a Y requirement to get there 7 times a month. There’s some paperwork involved on their end so they probably don’t want to do it for people who sign up and then never go. You asked about Beth and Edesia...I think Nancy still communicates with them. Jane was here recently, then suffered the loss of her cousin and hasn’t been checking in.
Kathy, I have really been battling fatigue. I assumed it was my usual winter lack of vitamin D, but now that you mention it, it might be Covid related. It really is the virus that just keeps on giving. We’ve hired a company to come in and spray weights and other surfaces with antibacterial solution, and we’ve discovered that it’s causing the uncoated weights to rust. It’s also eating away at plastic surfaces.
Lori, you might have some nice weather for your days off this week. It was in the high 40’s yesterday and will be 50 today.
Nancy, love the line dancing with your friend! Wow on the racquetball stitches. Those guys get really aggressive sometimes.

Jan - that's awful about the rusting weights and deteriorating plastic. Worse still is your continuing fatigue that could be covid related. Today I heard something even worse. Evidently a man needing a lung replacement was given one already covid infected and died. Took a lovely walk with my friend today and another one solo. Feels like spring - over 50 degrees. Reminds me of the days like this in February when the kids were growing up. They'd come home from school and get right into shorts. I'm pretty sure the 7 per month is required by the the insurance company rather than the Y, but I've been wrong before <g>.

Nancy, it’s in the 50’s here and windy. The sun was out all morning, such a nice February day! I’m really thinking it’s a vitamin D deficiency, though I do take a supplement. Our Silver Sneakers providers don’t have such a requirement, though we only get paid for I think 10 visits a month.

Hi everyone. Day 14 and doing well, but a busy day. Will try to get back later.
Re. Silver Sneakers: they (the Y) have this rule because sometimes people are on a waiting list to join through SS, and if you're not using it, they'd like to give it someone else. If that makes sense.
Just curious: how many of you have had COVID? I'm inferring that Jan and Kathy had it. I saw my doctor today and he had a terrible experience with it - 10 days feeling awful, fever, cough, the whole shebang. No hospital, at least. I was surprised since he is healthy and probably mid-40s.
Dashing off! Peace.

I was very lucky today. I was about to leave work (running late) when my boss asked if I wanted the Covid vaccine. Turned out someone signed up for it but for some reason couldn’t get it, Everyone else left for the day and they didn’t want to waste it, so I got my 1st dose. 2nd dose scheduled for 3-22. I Feel like I’m going to get my freedom back....
Nancy, Bingo! Perfect way to handle the maybe, night time eating!
Jan, Enjoyed walking around campus today, Spring is in the air! My days off ended, but I’ll be able to enjoy the nice weather working from home. I also heard, April 1st we may have to go back in-office full time....I‘m thinking it’s going to be a big adjustment..... Planning to enjoy working from home up until then.
Meg, Two weeks and doing great, love it!!
Kathy, hope your feeling better....sound like you may need to slow down a little bit and take care of yourself...

Lori - That's fabulous about the vaccine. I'm still having no luck. I figure the ship has sailed as far as going to Columbus or NC while Janet is still here, so I'm pretty much just waiting until one of the sites where I've registered comes thru. I also enjoyed the gorgeous weather this afternoon. I did have the 647/string cheese last night and it is already included in today's plan. But think of all the time I managed k-closed at 9 PM. I wish I could do that again. Maybe I should try 12 AM and back up 15 minutes every month. It would take a full year to get back to 9 PM but it would immediately cut out the middle of the night eating, and I'd be leaning in the right direction. If I do it, I'll start March 1st so have a few nights to get psyched up. What do you think?
Meg - 2 weeks in the bank. WTG!!
Jan - Seems you were right about the Y making the rule. Live and learn.
