Good Morning TLCs and thanks for the start Karen.
Karen - what a time of it you have had with Miss Phoebe . The avatar is great and how nice that they decorated her wrap for the holiday. I know it has to be difficult for both you and Dale and undoubtedly for Phoebe right now. The blood curdling howl had me cringing just reading about it. Have been putting Gary's gifts together for wrapping and wrapped a couple others. Need to get to the pet store and buy some holiday treats for the Puggles pals here in the neighborhood. Is a bright sunny day today and supposed to hit the mid 40s which will continue to melt our snow. I have peanut butter cookies to bake and need to throw a few things together in the duffle for Christmas day since we will stay over Sat. and Sun. at DS's house. Did you finish your scoodie? Will you be having visitors over the weekend?
Becky - hope you enjoy your hair cut appointment; it's always nice when you have your hair done especially when you need it cut.
Linda - couldn't believe the luck of DH and the fall again. Your poor knees must be getting more of a workout than they bargained for right now. Did you get your Julia Child mushrooms done? I made a spiced apple breakfast casserole that we actually had for dinner and was pleased it came out so nice.
Kathy - how's the wrapping going? I was down on the floor putting Gary's items in boxes and realized that the hip was not taking kindly to that. Will need to finish the actual wrapping at the dining room table or I'll be limping like a champ! Had WI yesterday and was up from last week; of course was at an all time low last week but I have to not let the scale make me too crazy!
Waving to Chele and hope your morning has gone well so far and that you have a nice day! I am off to get more of my elfing chores done. I am grateful that my head is better today so far which is a blessing.
Ciao for now lovely ladies! Merry Christmas Eve, Eve!

Karen, thanks for the start. Phoebe's wrap is very cute and that's nice that they decorated it for the holidays. Hope she has a good day today.
Becky, hope you enjoyed your haircut appointment. It's always nice to get it done.
Liz, I'm trying to put as much as possible in gift bags so I don't have to wrap everything. Of course, those take time too with doing the tissue and making them look nice. There are a few items I still need to wrap, so I'm working on that. You're doing great to get to an all time low this time of year! I was very happy to see my low point again today, so I'm maintaining. I'll be glad to go into the new year without my usual big gain, so that's my incentive. I plan to enjoy our Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners, but not go overboard with all the other treats. What's in the spiced apple breakfast casserole? Sounds good. Glad your headache is better.
I found out the car chase I saw speed by me yesterday was for a guy driving a stolen truck and wanted for attempted murder. I saw more than a dozen police vehicles speed down the road while I was sitting at a stoplight. Then when I turned, more came from the other direction and some were sitting with lights on in the university. Thankfully, they got him without anyone having an accident. He cut through the university roads and then sped up a residential road sometimes going the wrong way.
Linda, so sorry to hear your DH had another fall. Sounds like you had one of those days yesterday, so hope today is better. My A/C maintenance is the week after the holidays, but hopefully will just be maintenance since the system is only 1 1/2 years old.
Chele, hope you and Iggy have a nice day.

Karen, I thought when I first saw your picture that it was a sweater and I wondered how you got it on her with all her stitches. It was nice of the staff to decorate it. I hope Phoebe's pain has gone. It is scary when they help in pain. How are you and Dale holding up?
Becky, how's the hair cut? Do you feel like a new woman?
Kathy, bags are easier but, you are right. You still have to fluff the tissue and, in some cases, put a decoration. That was scary about all the police 🚗.
Linda, sorry to hear about Bob tripping and re-injuring himself and then you having to do extra duty and wearing yourself out. I love German potato salad. I wish I had a good recipe. Care to share?
Liz, I hope you get all your elfin done. Good idea on wrapping at the table. I used to do all my wrapping in the basement on my yoga mat. One year I was curling ribbon and my back went out. I kept shouting for Iggy but he didn't hear me until Teddy started barking at him. My little Rin Tin Tin! He had to help me off the floor and up the stairs. Now we have a phone in the basement and I always carry my mobile down there with me.
Karen, how is your head today? Liz, glad yours is better. Funny, I had a headache yesterday, too. It must be the change in the weather. We postponed our trip to Teavana until this morning after we went grocery shopping. It was a mad house at Meijer. After Teavana we went to lunch at a Thai restaurant close to the shopping area. It was the same owners that used to own the little Thai place near us. We were so happy to see them as their food is better tasting than the new owner's food. They are going to open up a little place even closer to us than the old one. We told them we are thrilled.

Becky, how did the hair cut go?
Liz, did you get the puggles' pals some good treats? The scoodie is finished and came out ok. But the hood is a bit larger than it should have been and the scarf ends a bit shorter because of the amount of yarn I used in the hood. No visitors here, which is a good thing because Phoebe is supposed to be kept very quiet. In fact, the surgeon said that if she was a human, she would be on strict bed rest. We had another couple of blood curdling yelps during the night and she and Dale finally got up around 3:30 but I didn't sleep much after they got up. She has been a bit whiney today but did get a good couple hour nap late morning/early afternoon How did the PB cookies come out? Definitely don't let the scale make you crazy. I hope you haven't gotten any calls from the office today and that your folks are on their best behavior in your absence now.
What did we do before gift bags, Kathy? I actually did find enough paper to wrap Dale's and Phoebe's gifts. That's scary about the speeding car. I'm glad they were able to get him stopped without incident.
Chele, Phoebe's bandage actually is more like a sweater and we have to watch if we cover her with a blanket that she doesn't get overheated. It seems to be slipping back toward her tail and I actually had to call the hospital to be sure we didn't need to bring her in to have it rewrapped, which they said it wasn't a big deal as long as the dressings over the actual wounds stay clean and dry. We'll leave it for as long as possible but the decorations are already starting to peel off. My head still hurts but at least the congestion is improving. That's scary about your back going out and Iggy not hearing you. Good thing Rinny did. What did you have at the Thai restaurant? We have a little Thai place here that is supposed to be really good but we haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Great that you will have a closer option soon.
Linda, how are Micki's walking wounded mom and dad doing today? Did you finish up your cooking for the holiday get together?
I just about got into the middle of a family thing earlier this afternoon. DSIL PM'd me on FB to ignore the text I got from her youngest daughter (which I didn't get until after the PM). DN wanted a Himalayan salt lamp and the place her parents got theirs is near here. Unbeknownst to her, her parents bought her one for Christmas. So I responded to her text by saying that I was a little busy with Phoebe right now but I would see what I could do after Phoebe starts to recover and she was ok with that. I'm anxious to see her face when she opens up her salt lamp I hope her mother will sendme a picture.
Hoping for a better night tonight.

From the art of German Cooking..Bantam 1967
warmer Kartoffelsalat For 4 to six people...hungry ones
6 med potatoes cooked without peeling in salted water. Drain, peel, cut to favorite size
fry 6 slices bacon until crisp and remove from pan ...use grease to sauté 1/2 c chopped onions..or more if you like them. Drain off all but one Tablespoon fat.
To the onions, add a teaspoon flour, 2 teaspoons sugar, 2 teaspoons salt and grind on some pepper and stir until flour browns a bit.
Stir in 3 to 4 tablespoons apple vinegar and 1/2 c water and cook until thickened.
pour hot dressing over potatoes and mix it in.
It gets better the next day.

Boy are those parking lots full everywhere! DH seems ok from the fall, bit achy. I put arnica over the sore areas last night. He did deli shopping for us after I get back from brothers tomorrow.
i did book exchange, dropped off donation at Good Will and Library and did TJs and Walgreens by the bookstore. LINES!
Well, after all those fixes, we turned on AC for few minutes because all that testing with heat made it too hot to sleep with rainy day humidity. Heat poured out! They came back early. Evidentially our six year of thermostat took exception to the overflow emergency wiring switch and all the starts to test the start assist and refused to switch over! merry Christmas house, you now have a new programmable thermostat. Bah humbug.
the mushrooms are from one of Julia Child's first shows. The stems are chopped and sautéed in. Hotter with shallots, then thicken and supposed to have cream , but I do half and half. That fills them. Then they are topped with chopped Swiss cheese and baked. Having had to make them every year for the last 27, I can't face eating them!
had to bring rum punch for niece...2c orange juice, 2 cups tea, 1 cup of cranberry juice, 1/2 c lemon juice, 24 whole cloves, cup of sugar and 2 cups rum. Better if it sits a day ....sneaks up on you fast when you drink it.
i like Iceland's Christmas Eve. Everyone gets books that night and spends it reading and eating chocolate! That is my plan once I get home.

Liz,You have been a busy bee this morning. The haircut turned out really good and feels so good.I'm glad your head is better. You did great last week at WI but you have to remember the number on the scale is another piece of data to lose in your WL journey and try not to let it drive you crazy.I'm up this week too so far and doubt I will lose it by Sunday but I have decided to give myself a pass for once after 4 yrs.
Kathy,I don't wrap anything anymore.I use the gift bags but don't bother with the tissue b/c I'm not very good at it.OMG on the car chase and the attempted murder.
Chele,I do feel like a new woman.I hadn't been to my regular stylist in several months and she almost didn't recognize me.She told me I look like a new person. That made me feel even better.I'm glad you have a phone in the basement now.
Karen,Phoebe's wrap is so cute and festive.I hope she feels better soon. It's good to have a Christmas w/e without visitors sometimes esp in her case.I hope you feel better soon also.
Linda,Reading a book and eating chocolate sounds like a good night to me.I hope DH isn't too sore.
After my haircut,we went to HEB and WM and both stores were so busy. This is the only time our super WM does this much business.I was able to sneak a last minute surprise for Kenneth w/o him seeing me check out.Afterwards we went to the nursing home to see an old friend who is in there for rehab, followed up by having lunch out.I had the best chicken chipotle. It was good and hot(spicy).I also had 3 bites of a cookie this morning that Kenneth brought me from the bank.It was homemade(the only kind I will eat now)and talk about being full of sugar.I'm good for the next yr now on cookies. We ate so late I don't know if either of us will even want to snack tonight. It's almost 7 and neither of us are hungry. We finally came home about 3:15 and I went for a walk.I needed it after the chicken and salad.Surprisingly the whole lunch only came out to be 9 SP.I didn't think I was that full afterwards but it seems like the farther I walked the fuller I became. No Curves til Monday. Our high was around 67 today I think but most of the day was cloudy and foggy. We have a little chance of rain over the w/e and I think the high for Christmas Day now is expected to be 76 and cloudy.Maybe rain.
