Good morning everyone! There's beautiful sunshine out my window, and I am hoping it will improve my spirits. DH and I were talking just yesterday about how the constant doom and gloom of the political situation is really affecting both of us negatively. It just makes you feel so frustrated. So going to try to get some "sun therapy" and focus my mind on something more positive. Linda, I really liked that piece from Robert Reich that you posted yesterday. Yesterday step-son #2 and family came for lunch. Youngest grandson isn't walking yet, but he is a fast crawler. Zooming across the floor! Step-son #1's birthday is today. Last year we were all together for his birthday celebration as they came here. It's very rare for us to all be together, so that was especially nice. DD will fly back from Chicago today. Are you like me, still worry when your kids are not where they normally are? Anyway, I'll be glad for her to be back home, and I know the kids will be as happy to see her as she will be to see them. I expect DSIL who has been holding down the fort since she's been gone will be pretty glad to relinquish some of the responsibility too. Very afraid we are being drawn further and further into an unwinnable or unendable quagmire in the Middle East, very concerned about the situation in North Korea, just very concerned about the whole world right now, but nothing I can say or do will change anything about that. So today I am going to try to focus on just my little corner of the world. As the old saying goes, "I have more on my plate than I can say grace over" just trying to deal with it. Alzheimer's sucks big time!!! I don't accept that we can't find a cure for it and for cancer, if we would just focus on doing that. Problem is, bombs are profitable. Cures for diseases are not. Forcing myself back into positive thinking mode. So easy to slip . . .

Good Morming...
Joyce,I had to smile & sigh at same time, when I read your 1st paragraph, because I was just coming on to ask if anyone else is feeling rather down & out about the whole political scenerio. Pretty much feeling the way you & your DH are feeling. Every morning, I wake up thinking what today will bring because of Tweety's drama. I know, no matter who has been in the Oval Office before, Republican or Democrat, extending way back to the time of Kennedy, have I felt so anxious about the Presidency & his effect on situations here in the US & around the world. Not just on one or two issues, but on EVERYTHING! ...So, I hear you & feeling the same way in ND
No sunshine here today. DH went out of town to have his second cataract surgery. And yes, I even feel anxious when DH is gone as well as big kids & Grandkids. Grandaughter will be in Washington DC this week for school trip, Grandson going to Iowa for wrestling tourney/camp. So, yes, this Mother Hen likes all my chickies back home safe in the coop.
Joyce, my mom will be 88 in a few months & her Alzheimers is going on maybe 15 years. So, yup, Alzheimers totally sucks...every darn stage of it. Physically she is in fairly good health for her age, but mentally completely gone. She would not want to live this way, I know that for sure.
So Gorsuch is sworn in today. Be interesting to see what he will really be like since he dodged answering so many questions during the hearings. I wish the Dem's had left things alone. He was going to get it either way. But I do feel, this was a stolen appointment since the McConnell & the Reublicans wouldn't even allow meetings with Garland last year. They denied President Obama what he had every right to in his last year. Nominate a SC Justice & have hearings & a vote! But it's just another corrupt feather in the Fake Prez hat.
Well, I'm on full Jason Duty today, so have a HEALTHY day & like Joyce enjoy your little corner of the world.

Linda, sounds like we are definitely feeling the same way. Who would have thought I would actually think fondly of having W back in the White House. I thought he was the worst, but he was so much better than what we have now there can be no comparison. To think that we went from the thoughtful, intelligent consideration of issues and keen grasp of facts that were President Obama's to this free-falling, never know from one minute to the next where he will come down, wouldn't know a true fact if it slapped him in the face Bozo who just makes up his own alternative ones, is not just disheartening, but very scary indeed. I've pretty much always disagreed with Republican presidents on policies, but I never before saw one who I think does not have the best interest of the country at heart. The others may have not looked at issues in the same way I see them, but I trusted that they would try to do the right thing as best they saw it. But this president, I don't think he is interested in facts. I don't think he is interested in the good of the American people. I don't even think he's Republican. I think he is solely in this for himself, his own ego, and his own profits. I really believe that he would sell us all out in a heartbeat if it would give him a nickel more in the bank. Oh yes, Linda, as for your comment about your mom not wanting to live this way. I understand exactly what you are saying. My mom isn't as far along as yours yet (I think about early to mid-stage 5, but just guessing), but she knows she is slipping away and it terrifies her. Terrifies me too. She is deeply depressed, and even two anti-depressants can't pull her out. She is absolutely miserable all the time. No one should ever be forced to live through this when there is no hope for improvement. But, that's getting away from my goal of trying to be positive today. Had to go to the bank, and then stopped by a store called Tuesday Morning. Do any of you have those in your part of the world? They have lots of lovely things at big discounts. Anyway, I always enjoy just browsing there. You never know what you will find. I think the name comes from the fact that they usually have new inventory in on Tuesdays, so I was a day early but lots of pretty things anyway. We've gotten into the habit of having our main meal in the middle of the day. Just makes life simpler. Today I have some flank steak stuffed with spinach and mozzarella I need to cook. Had intended to have it yesterday, but then when found out step-son #2 and family would be here didn't have enough to stretch that far so today is the day. Afterwards, DH is going with me over for a shorter than normal visit with my mom and dad. Afterwards we're just going to get out for a drive in the countryside. Sunshine here I come!

Just saw this post on FB from one of my liberal friends. It made me laugh, so I thought I'd share what she had to say here. "Trump could have done more damage to that airfield if he had just purchased it and run it as one of his businesses."It was up and running again yesterday.

Gosh, that is funny about the airfield & boy oh so true...LOL...the way Spicer was spinning the bombing, it was a huge success. :-(....
Joyce, no store like the one you described. I'm lucky to have a brand new grocery store in town. I do most all my shopping online. POP of my town around 1800 give or take on the oil boom or bust. Nearest Walmart or Mall shopping is 75 miles away or even better shopping, 180 miles. Hope you enjoyed your drive.

Linda, I too liked that piece you posted- Enough to re-post it.
Robert Reich.... Update for Trump voters. 1. He said he wouldn’t bomb Syria. You bought it. Then he bombed Syria. 2. He said he'd build a wall along the border with Mexico. You bought it. Now his secretary of homeland security says "It’s unlikely that we will build a wall." 3. He said he’d clean the Washington swamp. You bought it. Then he brought into his administration more billionaires, CEOs, and Wall Street moguls than in any administration in history, to make laws that will enrich their businesses. 4. He said he’d repeal Obamacare and replace it with something “wonderful.” You bought it. Then he didn’t. 5. He said he’d use his business experience to whip the White House into shape. You bought it. Then he created the most chaotic, dysfunctional, back-stabbing White House in modern history, in which no one is in charge. 6. He said he’d release his tax returns, eventually. You bought it. He hasn’t, and says he never will. 7. He said he’d divest himself from his financial empire, to avoid any conflicts of interest. You bought it. He remains heavily involved in his businesses, makes money off of foreign dignitaries staying at his Washington hotel, gets China to give the Trump brand trademark and copyright rights, manipulates the stock market on a daily basis, and has more conflicts of interest than can even be counted. 8. He said Clinton was in the pockets of Goldman Sachs, and would do whatever they said. You bought it. Then he put half a dozen Goldman Sachs executives in positions of power in his administration. 9. He said he’d surround himself with all the best and smartest people. You bought it. Then he put Betsy DeVos, opponent of public education, in charge of education; Jeff Sessions, opponent of the Voting Rights Act, in charge of voting rights; Ben Carson, opponent of the Fair Housing Act, in charge of fair housing; Scott Pruitt, climate change denier, in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency; and Russian quisling Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State. 10. He said he’d faithfully execute the law. You bought it. Then he said his predecessor, Barack Obama, spied on him, without any evidence of Obama ever doing so, in order to divert attention from the FBI's investigation into collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives to win the election. 11. He said he knew more about strategy and terrorism than the generals did. You bought it. Then he promptly gave the green light to a disastrous raid in Yemen- even though all his generals said it would be a terrible idea. This raid resulted in the deaths of a Navy SEAL, an 8-year old American girl, and numerous civilians. The actual target of the raid escaped, and no useful intel was gained. 12. He called Barack Obama “the vacationer-in-Chief” and accused him of playing more rounds of golf than Tiger Woods. He promised to never be the kind of president who took cushy vacations on the taxpayer’s dime, not when there was so much important work to be done. You bought it. He has by now spent more taxpayer money on vacations than Obama did in the first 3 years of his presidency. Not to mention all the money taxpayers are spending protecting his family, including his two sons who travel all over the world on Trump business. 13. He called CNN, the Washington Post and the New York Times “fake news” and said they were his enemy. You bought it. Now he gets his information from Fox News, Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, and InfoWars. More to come............

Just think, 60 million plus $$$ could have been better spent in refugee safe zones & humanitarian relief. But I suppose Tweety needed to beat his chest & brag how great it turned out . Odd too, that he ordered it when the Chinese President was in FL meeting with him.
On one of the Sunday talk shows yesterday, someone was asked ( sorry I can't think of who it was at the moment) why Syrian women & children couldn't be vetted & come here to the US, ( many other countries are letting them in) because surely babies & young children aren't a threat as terrorists. The person replied, "But, they could grow up to become terrorists" ....well seriously, how many American kids grow up to commit crimes & go on shooting sprees in churches & schools, etc. & they aren't Syrian!... I thought it was of the dumbest answers/excuses I had ever heard.

Trying to stay upbeat as the country is being flushed down the drain by Dummfy and Co.
Honestly, try as I may, I will never wish that W. was back in the W.H. I have spoken with too many parents who lost children in the war he started.
Good opinion piece from Senator Chris Murphy D.Ct.:
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement on the U.S. air strike launched in Syria:
“An ill-thought out military action with absolutely no overall strategy for Syria risks dragging us further into a civil war in which we cannot tip the scales. And put in the context of U.S. polices that aid the slaughter of civilians in Yemen and deny terrorized Syrians the ability to flee their dystopian existence, a solitary air strike exposes the immoral hypocrisy of this administration’s policy in the Middle East.
“Yes, Bashar al-Assad should pay a price for the slaughter of civilians in Syria. But the decision over the nature of that consequence is not for President Trump to make alone. The Constitution states that only Congress can authorize military activity, and President Trump should have sought congressional approval before taking action. Having failed to do so, he now must come to Congress and explain his policy in Syria and seek authorization for any continued military action.”
Two weeks ago, Murphy wrote a commentary expressing concerns that President Trump was preparing for a war with Syria while quietly deploying U.S. troops there.
AND.....Funny comment from him:
Murphy capitalized on The N.Y. Post story by sending out a fundraising email with the subject line "Looks like we have Steve Bannon's attention."
"You can imagine my surprise when I woke up yesterday to news that the White House political department is scouring my background because of my outspoken efforts to stop the worst of President Trump's dangerous agenda," the email reads, before quoting from The Post story. "I'll take it as a compliment."

" The person replied, "But, they could grow up to become terrorists" .."
A dear friend of mine asked how I was feeling this morning. I told her today I feel like smacking a few people in the face with the back of my hand. The person that made the above moronic comment would be first on my list. And that's my mild list. My "other" list is reserved for people who ambush and kill innocent animals for entertainment.

Patty-bird, they are now allowed to not only kill bears while they are hibernating, but also to go into wolf dens to kill the pups.
