This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year Olds board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning Booklovers. Happy eve of Christmas Eve. This is the strangest, to have a Friday that feels like Christmas Eve with everyone rushing around, and then knowing that Monday is a holiday too. Even my dry cleaner is closed Monday.
I am feeling much better today, so decided to come into my office for a while. When I get home, I will make the candied carrots for the donation dinners tomorrow. I plan to set some aside to have with our dinner tonight. I have a Blue Apron meal that is supposed to be served with carrots, I will just use these instead. It's a chicken dish with sage gravy and mashed potatoes. They gave me one very small potato, which I wrote them about. It is not even 1 portion size per person if you would consider WW portion size. I have a cauliflower, so will maybe cook that and mash everything together, because I feel guilty about eating the candied carrots.
Anngie, I answered your question last night, but then when I came into the office, one of the women asked me how to spell Chanukah. She could hear me pronouncing it though, so it was easier to understand my explanation.
I finished The Girls in the Garden yesterday. I enjoyed the book, and liked the way it pulled together at the end. I am about 25% into the next Will Trent book by Karin Slaughter, but should be coming up for much too many things in the next 2 week.

Hi Robin and AWF! Just finishing last minute things and then ready for Christmas weekend to begin. We will go to church with DMIL and all of DH's family will be there and then will go to DMIL's for our Christnas eve meal which is always wonderful. Christmas Day will be for our kids and I am so excited we will all be together and just us for the day. Our DD's family will stay here and our DS's live nearby so hopefully travel will be easy for them as we are predicted for a blizzard Christmas Day and into Monday. Does anyone else have that forecast?
Robin----Thanks for clearing that up for us the Chanukah and Hanuka---I have been wondering that myself. I love hearing about the jewish traditions and meanings.
Not sure if I will make it here the next few days or not so will wish everyone a great holiday no matter how you celebrate!!!!!Enjoy dear friends!!!

Thanks Robin, I did check back to last night. Thanks too for clearing it up as I was beginning to wonder if my calendar had a misprint! haha Good that you contacted Blue Apron re the potato - did they say how they would compensate you for the slight? Hopefully they'll find some way to make it right.
Pinky, how nice that you will have a whole day with your family - just your immediate family. That doesn't happen all that often, does it?! We were all together last year but this year DS1 & DDIL will be with her family this year. We're all so happy to see them get married, but, then we have to share them! I'm getting used to it little by little.
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah to everyone!

Pinky, your Christmas celebrations sound great. We are getting rain tomorrow, but it is supposed to be sunny and 50 degrees on Sunday. Hope the snow storm doesn't dampen the holiday.
Anngie, I agree with you about getting used to sharing the kids. Blue Apron is very good about compensating actually. They are giving me credits all the time. I almost feel bad reporting any problem. Once in a while an ingredient is missing, or I am not happy with the chicken quality they send, and they give me credit on my next order. Usually an amount that more than makes up for the shortage. They also give me free meals and I have sent offers to my kids, and some friends, who get the full box with 3 meals for 2. The catch is they have to remember to cancel if they don't want to continue, but they do.
I just finished my 8 containers of candied carrots for the Christmas meals. My minestrone soup has more stuff in it than soup, but it will be very filling for them, so maybe the families will save it for another day, or even to have for lunch on Christmas Day, while keeping everything else for dinner.
