Thinking Mistake #7: Unhelpful Rules
You mandate actions without taking circumstances into consideration.
"I can't waste food"
"I can't inconvenience my family by cooking healthier meals or getting the junk food out of the house."
Do you have any rules for yourself that may be holding you back?

The one that has been bugging me lately is the not wasting food. Instead of throwing the little bit away, I eat it. Need to talk to myself on that. It's not a rule but and association: I associate eating out with indulgence. Constantly fight this one.

No rules that I can think of BUT I noticed when doing the Blue and Purple plans I would search for zero-point foods to eat and then sometimes eat more than I would have if they had points. Yesterday I decided to go back to ITB-Conquer Cravings that is more like the original WW plan to rein in portions and keep myself more accountable. Will see how it goes. Only zero point foods on this program are vegetables!

* When my kids come home I dislike eating my whole foods and many times eat what they eat which is not whole foods and way to many points so then I gain weight back. The next two weeks I'll be eating with my son so hope to stick to my foods and make something else for him. Mothers Day is a week from Sunday and I hope we go out to eat if the drive in is open, I will pre plan for that as well, maybe use some of my weekly points which I never use. Maintaining is hard, maybe harder then losing!

Do you have any rules for yourself that may be holding you back? I grew up with the rule that we donโt eat in between meals. Then decades ago WW taught us that we had to have 5 fruits and vegetables daily and that the fiber would keep us satiated. So now I almost always have fruit with breakfast and lunch because Iโm afraid I might get hungry before the next meal. At dinner I always have half of my plate filled with vegetables. The problem is that maybe I really donโt need to eat that many servings. Iโll cut back and see if it impacts my weight loss. I donโt like the idea that I would be consuming extra food for insurance. I have to tell myself โIf I get hungry itโs ok to eat!โ Great assessment cathygeha. I like the follow-up action.

Great assessment cathygeha. I like the follow-up action. I still may look for lower point options on Conquer Cravings BUT with only 22 points per day based on calories/fat/fiber and veggies the only "freebies" I have a feeling I will be eating a lot less calories...probably.
I think that having the veggies at mealtime is fine but you can also have them ready to grab if/when hungry between meals. I might prepare some carrot sticks tomorrow to have on hand and get some cucumbers or zucchini to have to nibble on, too. Cherry tomatoes are also bite size snacks that are easy to grab.
I would actually find out how many points something was at a certain weight then check to see how much I would need to reduce the weight of the item to drop a point. I remember doing "exchanges" and though a bit more fiddly with the calories per day one could have it seems more straightforward than eating now. And, they got rid of the GHGs so I wonder if people actually get in all the food groups every day.
I will keep you posted on how things go. This is day two on Conquer Cravings (again) and the scale may just stay where it is...who knows. That said, I have had a "break" from this kind of counting for awhile...at least two months...so I could drop a bit now by counting ๐๐๐

Maintaining is hard, maybe harder then losing! It can be because you no longer have the thrill of losing, and you need to continually keep your motivation up.
